THE BOARD IS PLEASED TO HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO RECOGNIZE AND WELCOME SOME OF OUR NEWEST CAMPUS AND DISTRICT LEADERS.

I AM VERY EXCITED TO SHARE THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE NEW PRINCIPAL PLACEMENT AT BOWMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL.

I AM HONORED TO SHARE THIS NEWS THAT MR. FELIPE TORRES, IF YOU WOULD PLEASE STAND, WILL BE THE NEW PRINCIPAL AT BOWMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL.

MR. TORRES BRINGS 15 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC EDUCATION, INCLUDING THE LAST THREE YEARS AS AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AT MCKINNEY HIGH SCHOOL.

DURING THAT TIME, HE LED THE CAMPUS WIDE INITIATIVES FOCUSED ON INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT, SAFETY, AND CULTIVATING A STRONG STUDENT CULTURE.

MR. TORRES BEGAN HIS CAREER AS A US HISTORY TEACHER, SERVED IN VARIOUS ROLES, INCLUDING TEAM LEAD, DISTRICT CURRICULUM WRITER, AND ATHLETIC COACH.

HE HOLDS A BACHELOR'S DEGREE FROM THE TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY AND A MASTER'S DEGREE FOR EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON.

AS A PROUD BILINGUAL EDUCATOR, MR. TORRES IS DEEPLY COMMITTED TO BUILDING MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS WITH STUDENTS, FAMILIES, AND THE COMMUNITY.

AS THE NEW LEADER OF BOWMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL, MR. TORRES LOOKS FORWARD TO FOSTERING A SUPPORTIVE AND INCLUSIVE SCHOOL CULTURE, INCREASING FAMILY ENGAGEMENT, AND ENSURING ALL STUDENTS THRIVE BOTH ACADEMICALLY AND SOCIALLY.

[APPLAUSE] COACH MILLER BRINGS MORE THAN 26 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS A TEACHER, COACH, AND ATHLETIC COORDINATOR, HAVING SERVED IN ARLINGTON, DALLAS, GARLAND, AND MOST RECENTLY FRISCO ISD.

THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER, HE HAS DEMONSTRATED A REMARKABLE ABILITY TO LEAD AND INSPIRE BOTH STUDENTS AND STAFF, ALWAYS PLACING THE NEEDS AND GROWTH OF STUDENT ATHLETES AT THE CENTER OF HIS WORK.

COACH MILLER'S FIRST HEAD COACHING POSITION WAS AT DALLAS ISD'S SOUTH OAK CLIFF HIGH SCHOOL, WHERE HE LED HIS TEAM TO HIS FIRST DISTRICT TITLE AND FIRST PLAYOFF VICTORY IN THREE SEASONS.

HE CONTINUED HIS LEADERSHIP AS HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AND CAMPUS ATHLETIC COORDINATOR AT LAKEVIEW CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL IN GARLAND FOR NINE YEARS, AND LATER AS ATHLETIC COORDINATOR AND HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AT EMERSON HIGH SCHOOL IN FRISCO.

COACH MILLER'S IMPACT IS NOT LIMITED TO JUST FOOTBALL.

HE HAS GUIDED TEAMS IN SOFTBALL, BASEBALL, GOLF, SOCCER, SHOWING HIS DEDICATION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF ALL STUDENT ATHLETES.

BEYOND HIS CAMPUS LEADERSHIP, COACH MILLER IS RECOGNIZED ACROSS TEXAS FOR HIS SERVICE ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL COACHES ASSOCIATION, INCLUDING PAST PRESIDENT.

HIS STATEWIDE INVOLVEMENT REFLECTS HIS COMMITMENT TO ADVANCING ATHLETICS, SUPPORTING COACHES, AND ADVOCATING FOR STUDENTS.

COACH MILLER'S APPROACH IS ROOTED IN INTEGRITY, COLLABORATION, AND DEEP RESPECT FOR A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE.

HE IS PASSIONATE ABOUT PREPARING YOUNG PEOPLE NOT ONLY FOR SUCCESS IN THEIR SPORT, BUT FOR LIFE BEYOND THE GAME.

THIS COMMITMENT TO DEVELOPMENT IS A LEGACY HE CARRIES FORWARD IN HIS OWN FAMILY AS HIS FATHER, WAS ALSO A TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL COACH FOR 34 YEARS.

WE ARE TREMENDOUSLY EXCITED TO HAVE COACH MILLER JOIN THE PISD TEAM.

HE HAS HIS WIFE, SAMANTHA MILLER, AND DAUGHTERS SIDNEY MILLER AND CARA MILLER ON THEIR WAY, IF YOU'D GIVEN THEM THE RIGHT TIME.

I JUST WANT TO SAY HOW EXCITED I AM TO GET STARTED HERE IN PLANO ISD.

BEING A KID THAT IS A DALLAS AREA BORN AND RAISED KID, PLANO WAS ALWAYS THAT PLACE THAT YOU LOOKED AT.

IT WAS THAT BEACON ON THE HILL IN SOME SORTS.

I KNOW WE TALKED AND WAS INTERVIEWING FOR THE JOB AND I WAS ASKED IF I HAD SPOKEN TO MY WIFE AND IF SHE WAS OKAY WITH ME DOING THIS, WITH TAKING THIS STEP, AND IT WASN'T MY WIFE THAT WAS THE PROBLEM, IT WAS MY DAUGHTER.

WHEN I GOT TO TALKING TO HER AND SHE SAYS, WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BE COACHING? SHE SAID, BUT DAD, THE ONLY THING THAT I'VE KNOWN IS GOING TO FOOTBALL GAMES, GOING TO YOUR GAMES ON FRIDAY NIGHTS.

IT TOOK ME BACK FOR A SECOND TO REALIZE THAT THAT MEANT SO MUCH IN HER LIFE, BUT I THOUGHT ABOUT ME AS A KID, HOW MUCH IT MEANT FOR ME WHEN MY DAD WAS GOING TO CONTINUE COACHING, FOR MY SISTERS AND I.

THAT'S THE ONLY THING THAT WE KNEW.

WELL, I WANT TO USE THAT EXPERIENCE FOR OUR COACHES IN THIS DISTRICT, AND FOR WHAT THEY CAN DO FOR THEIR FAMILIES.

IF IT MEANS THIS MUCH TO OUR OWN CHILDREN, IT HAS TO MEAN THAT MUCH FOR OUR KIDS IN THE DISTRICT.

I JUST DON'T BELIEVE THAT THERE'S ANYTHING STRONGER THAT PROMOTES OUR SCHOOLS AND OUR DISTRICT THAN ATHLETICS.

IT HAS A POWER THAT NOTHING ELSE HAS.

THAT'S MY BELIEF AND THAT'S WHAT I WOULD LOVE TO SHOW HERE FOR OUR DISTRICT AND BE BEHIND OUR COACHES AND BE BEHIND OUR ATHLETIC TEAMS. REALLY LOOKING TO ADD ON TO WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN BUILT HERE IN PLANO THROUGH ALL THE YEARS, THROUGH ALL THOSE TEAMS, THROUGH ALL THE PROGRAMS, AND WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO BUILD IT HERE AT THIS POINT.

YOU SEE, EACH YEAR, REGION 10 IS TASKED WITH RECOGNIZING A BOARD THAT EXEMPLIFIES THE HIGHEST IDEAS OF SERVICE, LEADERSHIP, AND IMPACT IN PUBLIC EDUCATION.

ONE WHOSE WORK NOT ONLY REFLECTS A DEEP COMMITMENT TO STUDENT SUCCESS, BUT ALSO LEAVES A LASTING MARK ON ITS COMMUNITY AND THE STATE OF TEXAS.

THAT RECOGNITION IS CALLED THE REGION 10 OUTSTANDING SCHOOL BOARD AWARD.

THIS YEAR, IT'S MY INCREDIBLE HONOR TO LET YOU IN ON A LITTLE SURPRISE.

YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED AS THE 2025 REGION 10 OUTSTANDING SCHOOL BOARD.

[APPLAUSE] OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS, YOUR BOARD HAS MODELED WHAT IT MEANS TO LEAD WITH COURAGE, CLARITY, AND HEART.

YOU'VE TACKLED TOUGH CHALLENGES WITH TRANSPARENCY, UNITY, AND UNWAVERING FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS MOST, YOUR STUDENTS.

YOUR BELIEF THAT EVERY STUDENT DESERVES HIGH QUALITY EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES IS MORE THAN A VISION, IT'S A PROMISE YOU'VE WORKED TIRELESSLY TO FULFILL.

WHETHER IT'S PASSING EVADER AND A BOND IN THE SAME YEAR, LOWERING TAX RATES, AND BOOSTING TEACHER COMPENSATION, OR NAVIGATING DIFFICULT FUTURE FOCUSED DECISIONS ABOUT FACILITIES, YOUR BOARD HAS LED WITH INTEGRITY, STEWARDSHIP, AND WISDOM.

WHAT DISTINGUISHES YOU IS NOT JUST YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS, BUT YOUR CHARACTER.

YOUR UNITY OF PURPOSE, MUTUAL RESPECT, AND WILLINGNESS TO EMBRACE DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES HAVE CREATED A CULTURE OF COLLABORATION AND TRUST THAT HAS FELT ACROSS PLANO ISD CAMPUSES.

BEFORE I CLOSE, I WOULD BE REMISS TO NOT RECOGNIZE TWO FORMER TRUSTEES WHOSE CONTRIBUTIONS HAVE PAVED THE WAY TO THIS MOMENT.

JERRY CHAMBERS AND ANGELA POWELL, EACH SERVED TWO TERMS ON THIS BOARD WITH DEDICATION, GRACE, AND A PROFOUND COMMITMENT TO STUDENT SUCCESS.

THEIR LEADERSHIP CONTINUES TO RESONATE THROUGHOUT PLANO ISD, AND THIS HONOR IS IN PART IS A REFLECTION OF THEIR LEGACY AS WELL.

YOU HAVE BUILT A DISTRICT OF CHOICE, A STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, A HOME WHERE EVERY CHILD IS EMPOWERED TO ACTIVATE THEIR UNIQUE POTENTIAL IN A DYNAMIC WORLD.

SOMETIMES WHEN YOU'RE BURIED IN THE WORK, YOU DON'T THINK ABOUT THINGS LIKE THIS AND WE THINK ABOUT WITH THE HEAVY WORK AND THE EXTREME AMOUNT OF WORK WE'VE DONE IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, PUTTING ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER DAY TO DAY AND MAKING SURE THAT EVERY DECISION THAT WE'RE MAKING IS GROUNDED AND WHAT'S RIGHT FOR KIDS.

SHE MENTIONED JERRY AND ANGELA, WHICH I'M THANKFUL FOR, WHO HAVE BEEN OUR COLLEAGUES THE LAST FOUR YEARS, THE STRATEGIC PLAN WORK AND THE BOND INNOVATOR.

I WOULD BE REMISS IF I DIDN'T ALSO MENTION DAVID STOLLE, WHO WAS OUR BOARD PRESIDENT AND REALLY SHOWED EXTREMELY STRONG LEADERSHIP THROUGH THAT WORK.

THE LAST TWO YEARS OF WORK THAT NANCY HUMPHREY WAS OUR BOARD PRESIDENT AND LED US THROUGH OUR LONG RANGE FACILITY PLAN AND LED US THROUGH JUST A TREMENDOUSLY IMPACTFUL PERIOD FOR THE DISTRICT, AND I MAY SIT IN THIS CHAIR RIGHT NOW, BUT I STAND ON GIANTS.

AS A PART OF THIS RESOLUTION, IT IDENTIFIES THE OPPORTUNITY.

OUR POLICY CURRENTLY ALLOWS FOR UP TO FIVE DAYS AND CERTAINLY THERE ARE EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES BECAUSE THERE'S NO WAY TO SAY WHAT TIME IT TAKES FOR SOMEONE TO GRIEVE.

SOMETIMES WE HAVE EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES THAT WOULD EXTEND BEYOND THE FIVE AND SOMETIMES WELL BEYOND THAT.

BUT FOR SURE, WE WANTED TO BE ABLE TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL TWO PAID LEAVE DAYS.

CURRENTLY, AN EMPLOYEE CAN UTILIZE UP TO FIVE OF THEIR SICK DAYS.

LIKE I SAID, THEY COULD USE THOSE DAYS BECAUSE ALL OF OUR DAYS ARE CONSIDERED SICK DAYS.

THEY COULD USE A LITTLE BIT MORE, BUT NOW THIS GIVES THEM AN ADDITIONAL TWO DAYS THAT COULD BE CONSIDERED FOR THAT.

IT WOULD FOLLOW THE PROPOSAL OR THE RESOLUTION IDENTIFIES THAT IT WOULD FOLLOW THE STANDARD GUIDELINES THAT ARE WITHIN OUR LEAVE POLICY SO THAT ANY EMPLOYEE WHO FINDS HIMSELF IN NEED OF THESE DAYS WOULD ADHERE TO THOSE POLICIES FOR THOSE DAYS TO BE EXECUTED, BUT THEY WOULD BE ADDED TO THEIR LEAVE PACKET.

IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT FOR EMPLOYEES, FOR THE PUBLIC, FOR THE COMMUNITY TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE DISCUSSION AND THE GOALS THAT YOU WERE ESTABLISHING WITH THIS YEAR'S PAY PLAN WAS ALREADY GOING TO MAKE HISTORY.

IT DID NOT TAKE LEGISLATIVE ACTION FOR THAT TO HAPPEN.

WE'RE REALLY EXCITED AND NOBODY NEEDS TO TRY TO CALCULATE WHEN THAT WAS, BUT THAT WAS QUITE A WHILE AGO, BUT WE'RE REALLY EXCITED TO MAKE THAT RECOMMENDATION OF AN OFFER OF $63,000 FOR A NEW HIRE PLAN AND $65,000, IF YOU HAVE A MASTER'S DEGREE.

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF WAYS THAT THAT IS COMING BACK TO US THROUGH THE CLOSURE OF THE CAMPUSES, THROUGH OTHER EFFICIENCIES WHERE WE'VE GONE IN AND REALLY LOOKED AT POSITIONS AND IDENTIFY WHETHER OR NOT THOSE POSITIONS NEED TO CONTINUE INTO THE FUTURE.

THAT'S BEEN VERY STRATEGIC AS WELL AND THAT HAS GIVEN US THE OPPORTUNITY TO IDENTIFY PAYROLL EFFICIENCIES IN THE AMOUNT OF APPROXIMATELY $7 MILLION.

OUR TOTAL WITH THAT EFFICIENCY COMES TO JUST OVER WELL, NOT JUST OVER $16.8 MILLION TO CARRY OUT OUR PAYROLL FOR THE NEXT YEAR OR OUR COMPENSATION PLAN.

OF COURSE ENDING THIS, WE STILL WANT TO REFLECT BACK IN ADDITION TO THE GREAT COMPENSATION OPPORTUNITY WE HAVE WITH THE STARTING PAY OF 63,000 WITH A BACHELOR 65,000 WITH THE MASTERS.

WE KNOW THAT THERE ARE ALSO A NUMBER OF GREAT REASONS TO JOIN THE DISTRICT.

WE HAVE A NUMBER OF THOSE REASONS LISTED HERE FOR YOUR PLEASURE AS WELL AS THOSE THAT MAY BE WATCHING TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE DOLLAR AMOUNT AS WE'VE SAID OVER AND OVER AGAIN, WILL NEVER MATCH THE WORK OF OUR STAFF.

THERE'S NEVER A WAY THAT WE'RE GOING TO SAY, WE'RE PAYING THEM 100% FOR THE WORK THAT THEY DO BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT EVERY DAY THEY GO ABOVE AND BEYOND.

WHEN WE'RE TALKING ABOUT OUR NURSES, IF THEY'RE COMING TO THE TABLE WITH EXPERIENCE, THEY ARE GOING TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR THEIR YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.

AS LONG AS IT EQUATES TO WHAT WE WOULD CONSIDER FOR A YEAR OF EXPERIENCE FOR ANY EDUCATIONAL EMPLOYEE, I.E., YOU'VE WORKED AT LEAST 90 DAYS WITHIN THAT YEAR TO GET THAT CREDIT AND IT HAS BEEN CONSISTENT WORK.

BECAUSE THIS ALWAYS COMES UP WITH NURSES, THEY MAY HAVE DONE A LITTLE BIT.

THEY WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND THEY DIDN'T WORK AND THEY WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS.

THAT MAY NOT GET THEM WHERE THEY NEED TO BE IN ORDER TO MEET THAT EXPECTATION.

BUT IF YOU CAN ACTUALLY QUANTIFY A YEAR, YOU'RE GOING TO GET CREDIT FOR THAT.

NOW WHEN IT COMES TO LIBRARIANS, I WILL SAY IT'S A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT BECAUSE WE REALLY HAVE TO LOOK AT WHERE THEY WERE A LIBRARIAN.

IF IT WAS EITHER AN ACCREDITED INSTITUTION OR IF IT WERE AN ACTUAL LIBRARY SERVICES BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF WAYS THAT LIBRARIANS CAN BE IDENTIFIED AND IF THEY REQUIRED A CERTIFICATION TO DO THE WORK.

IF I WERE ABLE TO BE; AND I'LL JUST USE THIS AS AN EXAMPLE, A LIBRARIAN AT A CHURCH.

AT OUR TEAM PLANNING RETREAT, EARLIER IN THE SPRING, WE TOOK TIME TO CRAFT A STATEMENT OF PURPOSE, A SENTENCE THAT SUMS UP WHAT WE DO, BUT ALSO KEEPS US FOCUSED ON WHAT THE RIGHT WORK IS.

YOU'LL SEE THE RESULT ON THE SCREEN.

THE PLANO ISD PROFESSIONAL LEARNING DEPARTMENT EMPOWERS AND BUILDS CAPACITY IN PISD EMPLOYEES BY PROVIDING TRAINING, SUPPORT, AND RESOURCES THAT ENABLE TRANSFORMATIVE LEARNING AND GROWTH.

THIS INTERSECTS NICELY WITH THE DISTRICT'S VISION AS WE ARE COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE, DEDICATED TO CARING FOR OUR EMPLOYEES, AND AS OUR DEPARTMENT'S NAME STATES, WE ARE LITERALLY POWERED BY LEARNING.

OUR NATIONAL BOARD COHORTS ARE GOING STRONG WITH 13 NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFIED TEACHERS AND PISD, 21 CANDIDATES CURRENTLY WORKING ON THE CERTIFICATION IN OUR TWO EXISTING COHORTS, AND TWO NEW COHORTS LAUNCHING THIS SUMMER.

THE PISD MENTORING PROGRAM SUPPORTED 836 NEW TO PLANO TEACHERS LAST YEAR.

THESE INCLUDED BEGINNING TEACHERS IN THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF THEIR CAREERS AND EXPERIENCED TEACHERS WHO WERE JOINING US FROM OTHER DISTRICTS.

THAT'S A NUMBER THAT WE HOPE TO SEE DROPPING A LITTLE BIT IN THE FUTURE AS WE TRAIN AND RETAIN MORE QUALIFIED TEACHERS.

PISD IS CLEARLY POWERED BY LEARNING.

AS A DISTRICT, WE OFFERED 2,246 PROFESSIONAL LEARNING SESSIONS FROM THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL THROUGH THE 1 ST OF MAY THIS YEAR.

THIS NUMBER INCLUDES LEARNING ON CAMPUSES IN THE DISTRICT, AND THEN ALSO IN OUR DISTRICT DESIGN AND MONITORED VIRTUAL LEARNING COURSES.

WE ALSO HAVE A NEW PROFESSIONAL PREMIUM LIBRARY OF SELF PACED COURSES WITHIN OUR POWER SCHOOL PLATFORM.

LAST YEAR, STAFF MEMBERS COMPLETED 586 COURSES, TOTALING 2,140 HOURS OF LEARNING ON TOPICS RANGING FROM INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES, TO CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT, LEADERSHIP, TO WORKING WITH SPECIAL POPULATIONS.

THESE COURSES HAVE BEEN USED BY TEACHERS, PARAPROFESSIONALS, AND ADMINISTRATORS, TO SEEK LEARNING ON TOPICS OF INTEREST, BUT ALSO ON AREAS OF IDENTIFIED IMPROVEMENT NEEDS.

EMPLOYEES APPRECIATE THE FLEXIBILITY AND CONVENIENCE OF BEING ABLE TO WORK ON THESE COURSES ON THEIR OWN SCHEDULE FROM ANY LOCATION.

WE OFFERED TWO TRADE LEARNING SATURDAYS THIS YEAR, WHICH ALLOWED HUNDREDS OF STAFF TO ATTEND SESSIONS DESIGNED AND PRESENTED BY PLANO ISD EDUCATORS.

THIS YEAR, WE WERE PROUD TO OFFER 33 UNIQUE SESSIONS, MANY OF WHICH WERE PRESENTED MULTIPLE TIMES.

FINALLY, OUR PLANNERS, OUR PROFESSIONAL LEARNING AMBASSADOR NETWORK TEACHERS, LOGGED 350 TECHNOLOGY TRAININGS ON THEIR CAMPUSES.

MOST OF THOSE WERE FOCUSED ON SKYWARD IMPLEMENTATION FOR THE GRADE BOOK, BUT THEY ALSO DELIVERED LEARNING ON UNTETHERED TEACHING AND THE USE OF DIGITAL TOOLS TO ENHANCE INSTRUCTION AND ENGAGEMENT, WHICH IS A FOCUS THAT WE'RE MOVING TOWARD, HOPEFULLY MORE, IN THE UPCOMING YEAR.

THAT'S JUST TO LOOK AT A FEW OF THE NUMBERS THAT PROVIDE A SMALL GLIMPSE OF THE SCOPE OF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING THAT HAS OCCURRED LAST YEAR.

BUT WHAT I'M REALLY HERE TO TALK ABOUT THOUGH, IS WHAT'S GOING ON THIS SUMMER.

THIS IS PARTLY A PREVIEW OF UPCOMING LEARNING AND PARTLY A REVIEW OF WHAT HAS HAPPENED IN THE VERY BUSY FIRST FEW WEEKS OF THE SUMMER IN WHICH SO MUCH PROFESSIONAL LEARNING HAS ALREADY TAKEN PLACE.

I WANT TO EMPHASIZE THAT THIS OVERVIEW IS NOT A COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF ALL OF THE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING HAPPENING THIS SUMMER BECAUSE THERE'S QUITE A BIT OF LEARNING THAT'S HAPPENING IN VARIOUS ROLES, HAPPENING THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT.

THE FIRST CATEGORY THAT I WOULD LIKE TO FOCUS ON IS OUR LEARNING FOR TEACHERS.

ANYONE WHO THINKS THAT TEACHERS HAVE SUMMER OFF TO DO NOTHING HASN'T MET A PLANO ISD EDUCATOR.

OUR TEACHERS ARE COMMITTED TO CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT OF THEIR PRACTICE AND REMAINING CURRENT WITH THEIR LEARNING.

ONCE AGAIN, WE KICKED OFF OUR SUMMER THIS YEAR WITH SUMMER INSPIRE, WHICH IS OUR CONFERENCE STYLE LEARNING EVENT PRIMARILY FOR TEACHERS.

OVER TWO DAYS IN THE FINAL WEEK OF MAY, 985 TEACHERS ATTENDED 49 UNIQUE SESSIONS WHICH WERE FACILITATED BY DISTRICT STAFF AND CONTRACTED PRESENTERS.

FEEDBACK FROM ATTENDEES WAS OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE.

IT WAS REALLY NICE TO SEE THE SMILES ON THE FACES AND THE CONVERSATIONS AS THEY WERE TALKING AMONGST THEMSELVES ABOUT HOW THEY WANTED TO IMPLEMENT THAT LEARNING IN THEIR CLASSROOMS BACK IN THE FALL.

SUMMER INSPIRE COULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT THE MANY DEPARTMENTS WHO DELIVERED LEARNING AND ALSO ARRANGED TO HAVE PRESENTERS FROM OUTSIDE OF PISD SHARE THEIR EXPERTISE.

COMING UP IN JULY, WE WILL PARTNER WITH OUR FRIENDS IN RICHARDSON ISD TO PRESENT OUR SECOND ANNUAL VIRTUAL CONFERENCE FOR TEACHERS PURSUING NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION, ACCOMPLISHED.

AROUND 30 NEW PISD CANDIDATES WILL JOIN OUR EXISTING COHORT MEMBERS AND SOME OF OUR NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFIED TEACHER MENTORS TO GET READY FOR THE NEXT ROUND OF COMPONENT SUBMISSIONS.

JUST YESTERDAY, WE KICKED OFF OUR PLANO ISD EXTERNSHIP PROGRAM.

THIS IS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN PROFESSIONAL LEARNING, THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION, AND NUMEROUS COMMUNITY AND INDUSTRY PARTNERS.

SEVENTEEN SECONDARY TEACHERS ARE GOING TO WORK AT 14 DIFFERENT HOST SITES WITH THE GOAL OF INCREASING THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT'S EXPECTED OF EMPLOYEES IN TODAY'S WORKPLACE, SO THAT THEY CAN BETTER PREPARE THEIR STUDENTS FOR THAT.

THE EXTERNS WILL RECONVENE IN JULY FOR A CELEBRATION LUNCHEON, WHERE THEY WILL SHARE WITH ONE ANOTHER AND WITH THEIR INDUSTRY PARTNERS, ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES AND WHAT THEY'RE TAKING BACK TO THEIR STUDENTS.

NEXT WEEK, THE DIGITAL LEARNING TEAM WILL BE HOSTING APPROXIMATELY 180 TEACHERS FOR THE 12TH ANNUAL EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY SUCCESS INITIATIVE OR ETSI.

THE THEME FOR THIS YEAR IS STAYING AHEAD WITH AI, AND I KNOW PARTICIPANTS ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO LEARNING ALL ABOUT USING IPADS, LAPTOPS, CHROMEBOOKS, AND BEN Q BOARDS, ALONG WITH HARNESSING THE POWER OF AI TOOLS TO ENHANCE INSTRUCTION.

WE'VE JUST FINISHED RECRUITING FOR OUR NEXT YEAR'S ASPIRING ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL ACADEMY OR AAPA.

THIS IS OUR PIPELINE PROGRAM, MOSTLY FOR TEACHERS WHO ARE LOOKING TO MOVE INTO ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL ROLES IN PLANO ISD, HOPEFULLY.

IN JULY, OUR NEW CLASS WILL SPEND A DAY TOGETHER LEARNING ABOUT LEVERAGING THEIR UNIQUE STRENGTHS TO DEVELOP LEADERSHIP SKILLS TO SET THE STAGE FOR THE MONTHLY LEARNING WE WILL DO THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR.

FINALLY, JULY BRINGS THIS YEAR'S TEAM LEADER ACADEMY, DESIGNED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ACADEMIC SERVICES.

THIS TWO-DAY LEARNING EXPERIENCE IS FOR ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY TEACHERS WHO ARE NEW TO THE TEAM LEADER ROLE, AS WELL AS THOSE WANTING TO SHARPEN THEIR SKILLS.

WE CURRENTLY HAVE, OR LAST WEEK WHEN I CHECKED, WE HAD 86 REGISTERED TO ATTEND.

THE LEARNING INVOLVES A DAY OF BUILDING LEADERSHIP AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS, FOLLOWED BY A DAY OF SESSIONS, LED BY VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS WHERE TEAM LEADERS CAN CHOOSE THEIR OWN PATHWAYS TO FILL THEIR LEADERSHIP TOOLBOXES.

TEACHERS ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES ENGAGING IN PROFESSIONAL LEARNING THIS SUMMER.

OUR CAMPUS LEADERS ARE ALSO GROWING WHILE THE KIDS ARE OUT OF SCHOOL.

LAST WEEK, PISD HOSTED ANOTHER EMPOWER CONFERENCE FOR PRINCIPALS.

A COMMITTEE COMPRISED LARGELY OF CAMPUS LEADERS WHO WORKED THROUGHOUT THE SPRING TO PROMOTE, PLAN, AND RECRUIT PRESENTERS AND SELECT SESSIONS FOR EMPOWER.

THEIR HARD WORK RESULTED IN TWO DAYS OF NON STOP LEARNING, DURING WHICH PRINCIPALS AND APS ATTENDED UP TO 11 SESSIONS, MOST OF WHICH WERE PRESENTED BY OUR OWN CAMPUS AND DISTRICT LEADERS.

EMPOWER WAS AN AMAZING EXAMPLE OF THE COLLABORATION THAT EXISTS IN OUR DISTRICT AS SO MANY OF OUR LEADERS CONTRIBUTED TO THE EVENT'S SUCCESS.

TODAY, AT LOCATIONS ALL OVER THE DISTRICT, PRINCIPALS AND APS GATHERED WITH TEAMS FROM THEIR CAMPUSES FOR THE LEAD CAMPUS TEAM SUMMIT, WHICH WAS A FIRST TIME EVENT FOR US.

IT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN A GUIDED WORK DAY TO DIVE DEEPLY INTO CAMPUS DATA TO CRAFT THEIR THOUGHTFUL CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR.

OUR PRINCIPALS ARE ABOUT TO ENJOY A FEW WEEKS OF WELL DESERVED TIME OFF, AND WHEN THEY RETURN IN JULY, WE'LL BE READY FOR THEM WITH THE JULY LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE.

A MAJOR FOCUS FOR OUR DEPARTMENT IN THE UPCOMING YEAR IS ENSURING THAT OUR NEW TEACHERS ARE SUCCESSFUL AS THEY BEGIN THEIR CAREERS IN PLANO ISD.

DURING THE PAST YEAR, WE'VE SOUGHT FEEDBACK FROM NEW TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS, AND MENTORS TO IDENTIFY NEEDS AND GROWTH AREAS FOR OUR WORK WITH BEGINNING TEACHERS.

WE'VE INCORPORATED THAT FEEDBACK INTO OUR SUMMER LEARNING FOR MENTORS, AS WELL AS OUR PLANS FOR YEAR ROUND SUPPORT.

NEW AND RETURNING MENTORS WILL HAVE ACCESS TO A DIGITAL HUB WITH A SYLLABUS OF SUPPORT, IDEAS FOR MONTHLY CHECKPOINTS, AND UPDATED MENTOR LOGS TO RECORD INTERACTIONS WITH THEIR MENTEES.

EACH CAMPUS HAS A LEAD MENTOR, WHOSE PRIMARY PURPOSE IS A PRIMARY POINT OF CONTACT WITH OUR DEPARTMENT, AND WHO WILL MONITOR THE WORK OF ALL MENTORS ON THEIR CAMPUSES.

WE INTEND TO COLLECT DATA FROM MULTIPLE SOURCES TO HELP US EVALUATE THE WORK THAT IS BEING DONE, AS WELL AS THE PERCEPTIONS OF NEW TEACHERS ABOUT THE QUALITY OF SUPPORT THAT THEY ARE RECEIVING.

FOR INSTANCE, SPECIAL ED TEACHERS HAVE SOME EXTENSIVE DOCUMENTATION TRAINING THAT THEY NEED BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS.

THE SPECIALIZED CONTENT WILL HAPPEN, BUT WE'LL ALSO HAVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR NEW HIRES TO VISIT MODEL CLASSROOMS WHERE THEY CAN VIEW SOME LEARNING SPACES APPROPRIATE TO THEIR GRADE LEVELS AND CONTENT AREAS.

WE WILL HOST A HALF DAY OF LEARNING SPECIFICALLY FOR OUR FIRST YEAR TEACHERS.

THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO BUILD CAPACITY IN OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION STAFF TO PREPARE THEM TO GROW INTO LEADERSHIP ROLES.

THE ASPIRING PRINCIPAL ACADEMY, A TWO-YEAR PROGRAM FOR CURRENT APS SEEKING PRINCIPAL POSITIONS, WILL ALSO LAUNCH A NEW COHORT IN THE FALL.

BASED ON FEEDBACK FROM PARTICIPANTS, CABINET, SLI, AND OTHERS, AND ON DATA FROM OUR RECENT COHORTS, WE ARE DOING SOME REDESIGNING OF OUR EXISTING PIPELINE PROGRAMS TO TRY TO MAXIMIZE OUR DESIRED OUTCOMES IN OUR UPCOMING CLASSES.

PROVIDING TSIA TESTING IN HIGH SCHOOL VERSUS JUSTIN SENIOR HIGH IS ONE WAY TO INCREASE CCMR MET CRITERIA IN EARLIER GRADES.

WHAT IS TSIA? THE TSIA IS TEXAS'S VERSION OF A COLLEGE ASSESSMENT KNOWN AS THE ACCUPLACER, THAT IS USED NATIONALLY BY COLLEGES.

COLLEGE BOARD, YOU PROBABLY RECOGNIZE THEM FOR SAT, ALSO PROVIDES THE ACCUPLACER ASSESSMENTS TO DETERMINE IF STUDENTS ARE READY FOR COLLEGE LEVEL COURSES.

TEXAS ENACTED THE TEXAS SUCCESS INITIATIVE, KNOWN AS TSI.

NOW THEY HAVE THE TSIA.

BUT THE TEXAS SUCCESS INITIATIVE WHICH OUTLINES THE CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY TO ENROLL IN COLLEGE CLASSES.

STUDENTS MAY TAKE THE SAT, THE ACT, OR THE TSIA ASSESSMENTS, AND WHEN THEY MEET THE STATE'S BENCHMARK SCORES IN MATHEMATICS AND READING AND WRITING, THEY MAY QUALIFY TO ENROLL DIRECTLY INTO COLLEGE COURSES.

HOWEVER, IF THEY DO NOT MEET THE STATE'S BENCHMARK SCORES, THEY MUST TAKE AND PASS DEVELOPMENTAL COLLEGE COURSES, WHICH COST MONEY AND TIME WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF EARNING COLLEGE CREDIT.

WE DON'T WANT THAT FOR ANY OF OUR STUDENTS.

EACH PLANO ISD HIGH SCHOOL AND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS IS A TESTING SITE FOR TSIA.

HOWEVER, HISTORICALLY, WE ONLY TESTED STUDENTS WHO REQUESTED TESTING FOR DUAL CREDIT PURPOSES.

WE ARE NOW USING TSIA TESTING TO SUPPORT STUDENTS IN ACHIEVING THE STATE CCMR CRITERIA AND TO HELP THEM DEMONSTRATE COLLEGE READINESS PRIOR TO GRADUATION.

BOTTOM LINE, TSIA TESTING HELPS OPEN DOORS OF OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STUDENTS WHEN THEY MEET THE TEXAS COLLEGE-READY BENCHMARKS.

AS I STATED, WE HAVE PROVIDED TSIA TESTING TO STUDENTS IN 10TH GRADE FOR MANY YEARS DUE TO STUDENT INTEREST IN TAKING DUAL CREDIT CLASSES IN 11TH GRADE.

HOWEVER, THE TESTING WAS TYPICALLY CONDUCTED ON WEEKENDS AND AT A COST FOR STUDENTS.

THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR.

WE PROVIDED TSIA TESTING TO ALL 10TH GRADERS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY AND AT NO COST TO THE STUDENTS.

TO SUPPORT THIS DISTRICT WIDE INITIATIVE, ADVANCED ACADEMICS PROVIDED CAMPUS TRAINING TO STAFF AND RESOURCES TO USE WITH STUDENTS TO HELP EDUCATE THEM ABOUT THE TEST.

ADVISORIES WERE USED TO PROVIDE INFORMATIONAL PRESENTATIONS AND TO HELP STUDENTS KNOW HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE TSIA, READING, WRITING, AND ESA TESTS.

WHY IS EARLIER TSIA TESTING IMPORTANT? WELL, LAST SUMMER, TEXAS CHANGED THE LAW FOR DUAL CREDIT CRITERIA.

STAR SCORES ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED FOR DUAL CREDIT, AND THIS COMING YEAR, PSAT MAY NOT BE ACCEPTED BY COLLIN COLLEGE TO GET INTO DUAL CREDIT COURSES.

EARLIER AND DISTRICT WIDE TSIA TESTING IS THE BEST MEANS TO SUPPORT STUDENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN PURSUING DUAL CREDIT, AND IT HELPS WITH MEETING CCMR CRITERIA.

TWO GREAT BENEFITS.

ADDITIONALLY, THE TSIA PROVIDES DIAGNOSTIC REPORTS THAT CAMPUSES CAN USE TO HELP PINPOINT SKILLS GAPS AND THEREFORE PROVIDE EARLIER INTERVENTIONS FOR STUDENTS WHO NEED THIS.

AS PART OF OUR PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS, WE ARE COLLABORATING WITH SECONDARY ACADEMIC SERVICES ON HOW TO EMBED PRACTICE INTO EARLIER GRADES.

THE RESULTS. THIS SPRING WAS OUR FIRST TIME TO TEST ALL 10TH GRADE STUDENTS USING THE TSIA READING, WRITING, AND SA ASSESSMENTS.

WE DID NOT TEST ALL STUDENTS FOR MATH, AND I'LL EXPLAIN THAT IN A MINUTE.

OUR PURPOSE WAS TO CONDUCT TESTING IN EARLIER GRADES INSTEAD OF WAITING UNTIL 10TH GRADE IN ORDER TO IDENTIFY STUDENTS WHO ARE COLLEGE-READY OR WHO NEED INTERVENTIONS IN ORDER TO OVERCOME THIS HURDLE.

OUR RESULTS FROM OUR FIRST ATTEMPT AT TESTING ACROSS THE DISTRICT ARE PROVIDED ON THIS TABLE, 03,011 SOPHOMORES WERE GIVEN THE TSIA READING, WRITING, MULTIPLE CHOICE TEST, 01,439 MET THE STATE'S BENCHMARK SCORE, WHICH EQUATES TO 48% OF OUR 10TH GRADERS, 02,375 OR 49% OF THE SOPHOMORES COMPLETED THE TSIA SA, AND 1,168 MET THE BENCHMARK SCORE.

NINE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE, WHICH IS 39% OF THE STUDENTS WHO TOOK BOTH ASSESSMENTS MET THE BENCHMARK FOR BOTH.

WHAT WERE OUR KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS FIRST TIME TESTING ALL 10TH GRADE STUDENTS WITH TSIA? WE CAN MAKE AN EVEN BIGGER IMPACT IF WE INVEST IN EMBEDDING TSIA PRACTICE INTO THE CURRICULUM AND IF WE PROVIDE INTERVENTION AND PREPARATION TIME PRIOR TO TESTING.

THESE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS WHEN WE DUG INTO THE DATA, 494 STUDENTS WERE ONE POINT AWAY FROM MEETING THE BENCHMARK ON THE READING AND WRITING TEST.

WE COULD POTENTIALLY SEE A 65% SUCCESS RATE IF WE CREATE A MORE ROBUST TSIA TESTING SUPPORT SYSTEM.

PART OF MY INFORMATION FELL OFF, BUT THEY ALSO HAD APPROXIMATELY 400-500 STUDENTS WHO ARE ONE POINT AWAY FROM MEETING THE BENCHMARK ON THE ESSAY AS WELL.

BY JUST ADDING MORE PREPARATION, SUPPORTING STUDENTS, EDUCATING THE PARENTS, THE STUDENTS, THE STAFF, HAVING A LONGER RUNWAY TO GET THAT IN PLACE, WE'RE ANTICIPATING INCREDIBLE RESULTS.

WHAT ARE OUR NEXT STEPS? WELL, WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO COLLABORATE WITH SECONDARY ACADEMIC SERVICES ON CURRICULUM ALIGNMENT TO COLLEGE READINESS.

THAT'S THE INFORMATION THAT WE ARE GOING TO TALK ABOUT.

THE ONE THAT YOU DON'T SEE ON HERE THAT WAS ON THE LAST SLIDE IS WHEN WE FIRST STARTED CCMR, WHEN IT STARTED WITH CTE, YOU JUST HAD TO HAVE A COHERENT SEQUENCE OF COURSES AND THOSE WERE LOCALLY IDENTIFIED.

WE COULD SAY YOU WERE INTERESTED IN ANIMAL SCIENCE TRACK.

YOU COULD IDENTIFY WHICH COURSES THOSE WERE AND THAT WAS YOUR COHERENT SEQUENCE OF COURSES AND YOU HAD YOUR 0.5 THAT YOU NEEDED FOR THAT.

THEN IT GOT A LITTLE BIT MORE DIFFICULT.

THEY SAID YOU KNOW WHAT? YOU JUST NEED TO EARN AN INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION.

BUT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THIS PRETTY LONG LIST OF CERTIFICATIONS AND SOME OF THEM ARE PRETTY EASY TO OBTAIN AND YOU JUST HAVE TO PASS THE TEST.

WE'RE LIKE, WE CAN DO THAT.

OUR KIDS ARE REALLY SUCCESSFUL AND THEN THEY DECIDED TO CHANGE THE GAME AGAIN.

WE ROLLED WITH IT.

WE LOOKED AT THEN FROM THERE, WE HAD TWO DIFFERENT CERTIFICATION LIST.

THEY ADDED IN A LIST, WHICH WE CALL OUR V3 LIST, AND WITH THAT LIST THEY WERE ADDING OR TAKING AWAY SOME OF OUR CERTIFICATIONS THAT BECAME A MADE IT A LITTLE BIT MORE DIFFICULT.

I KNOW DR. WILLIAMS TALKS ABOUT IT.

THEY TOOK AWAY THE MICROSOFT OFFICE WORD SPECIALIST, THEY TOOK AWAY THE MICROSOFT OFFICE EXCEL, WHICH WHEN WE LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE THAT'S REALLY WHERE WE WERE GETTING THE MOST BANG FOR OUR BUCK ON CERTIFICATIONS.

THEY ALSO TOOK AWAY OSHA CERTIFICATIONS.

THOSE WERE OUR CERTIFICATIONS THAT IN SOME OTHER DISTRICTS, THEY WERE GIVING THEM TO EVERY KID IN THE SCHOOL, AND THAT'S HOW SOME CERTIFICATIONS WERE GETTING OBTAINED.

WE HAD TO LOOK AT THE CERTIFICATIONS THAT WE WERE OFFERING.

WE HAD TO ADJUST SOME OF OUR CURRICULUM AND THEN FROM THERE THEY DECIDED TO CHANGE IT AGAIN.

WE HAD TO EARN A CERTIFICATION THAT WE HAD TO EARN A CERTIFICATION AND YOU HAD TO HAVE A LEVEL 2 COURSE, WHICH I'LL EXPLAIN THAT HERE IN JUST A SECOND.

THAT WAS THE 2025 ACCOUNTABILITY AND THEN WE CAME TO THIS YEAR.

THIS YEAR WE HAD THAT THE STUDENTS HAD TO EARN AN INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION AND THEY HAD TO BE WHAT WE CALL CTE CONCENTRATOR.

THAT IS TWO CLASSES FOR TWO MORE CREDITS WITHIN THE SAME PROGRAM OF STUDY.

WELL, AGAIN, WE'LL LOOK AT THAT IN A SECOND.

THAT MAKES IT, AGAIN, WE'RE TAKING ANOTHER STEP, GETTING A LITTLE BIT MORE DIFFICULT.

THEN NEXT YEAR WE WILL BE HAVING TO EARN AN INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION AND BE A CTE COMPLETER,

WHATEVER THE FUN IS, WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO FORGE FORWARD AND WE'RE GOING TO JUST KEEP ON WORKING AND FIGURING OUT WHAT THE BEST PATH IS FOR OUR STUDENTS.

WHEN WE LOOK AT THIS, REALLY WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT IS, WHAT DID WE HAVE TO DO THIS YEAR WITH THE CLASS OF;25? LIKE I SAID, WE HAD CONCENTRATORS IN A CTE PROGRAM OF STUDY AND EARN INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION.

THEN NEXT YEAR AND BEYOND, AS OF RIGHT NOW, WE WILL HAVE TO HAVE COMPLETERS AND A PROGRAM OF STUDY AND EARN INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION.

THAT IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN TOLD IS WHAT WE WILL HAVE TO DO GOING FORWARD TO EARN THAT CCMR INDICATOR WITHIN CTE.

WHAT WE USED TO HAVE AS CTE USED TO BE THE LOWER HANGING FRUIT.

IT USED TO BE ONE OF THE EASIER CCMR INDICATORS TO GET.

NOW, WE REALLY HAVE TO HAVE A PLAN IN PLACE.

WE HAVE TO PLAN STARTING IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.

WE HAVE TO HAVE SOME GOOD ADVISING, WE HAVE TO HAVE CRUCIAL CONVERSATIONS.

WE HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY VISIT A FOUR OR SIX YEAR PLAN WITH STUDENTS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ARE ALIGNED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE STUDENTS ARE ON TRACK TO EARN THAT PROGRAM OF STUDY.

THEN OBVIOUSLY TO GET THAT INDUSTRY-BASED CERTIFICATION THAT COULD OR COULD NOT BE ON THE LIST BY THE TIME THAT THEY ARE A SENIOR WHEN THAT CCMR HITS.

WHEN WE TALKED ABOUT WHAT IS A CTE CONCENTRATOR, WE TALKED ABOUT IT'S A STUDENT WHO COMPLETES AND PASSES TWO OR MORE HIGH SCHOOL CTE COURSES FOR A TOTAL OF AT LEAST TWO CREDITS WITHIN THE SAME PROGRAM AS STUDY.

THEY COULD TAKE INTRO TO CULINARY ARTS IN 10TH GRADE, WHICH WOULD BE A LEVEL 1 COURSE FOR ONE CREDIT, AND FOOD SCIENCE IN 11TH GRADE, A LEVEL 4 COURSE FOR ONE CREDIT.

THAT GETS THEM THERE FOR THEIR TWO CLASSES FOR TWO CREDITS AND THEN JUST TO MEET THAT CCMR, THEY WOULD HAVE TO EARN THAT INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION.

THAT IS OUR GOAL IS THAT THEY WOULD GET IN THOSE TWO CLASSES IF THEY WERE IN THE CLASS OF 2025 AND THAT THEY WOULD FOR THAT FOOD SCIENCE CLASS, THEY WOULD TAKE THAT PRE PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION IN FOOD SCIENCE, EARN THAT CERTIFICATION, AND THEY WOULD BE CCMR MET THROUGH CTE.

SOMETIMES IT GETS A LITTLE CONFUSING AND A LITTLE BIT MORE COMPLEX.

THIS IS WHERE AS A TEAM, WE TRY TO SUPPORT CAMPUSES AND THE COUNSELING STAFF, BUT THIS IS AN EXAMPLE THAT SOMETIMES WE HAVE A STUDENT IN HERE THAT IS IN MARKETING AND SALES PROGRAM OF STUDY.

THEY TAKE SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING FOR A 0.5 CREDIT AND THEN SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT MARKETING FOR 0.5 CREDITS.

THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF A PHONE CALL THAT I GOT THIS YEAR.

THEY SAID I TOOK TWO CLASSES.

WHY IS MY STUDENT NOT CCMR MET AND THEY'RE GOING TO TAKE A CERTIFICATION.

THEY TOOK STUKENT, WHICH BY THE WAY, IS NOT MISSPELLED.

I KNOW HOW TO SPELL STUDENT BUT STUKENT, IS A SOCIAL MEDIA MARKING? NO, I'M JUST SAYING I GET THAT ALL THE TIME.

WE ACTUALLY JOKED ABOUT IT AT A CONFERENCE THIS WEEK AND IT'S A CONVERSATION.

THEY TOOK THE TWO CLASSES BUT IT WAS NOT FOR TWO CREDIT SO THAT'S WHY A STUDENT IS NOT A CONCENTRATOR.

IT CAN GET A LITTLE BIT STICKY AND SO WE WANT TO JUST MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE EDUCATING AND MARKETING AND MAKING SURE THAT THEY TAKE THE CLASSES AND THAT THEY'RE THERE.

MOVING FORWARD, STARTING WITH NEXT YEAR, A STUDENT HAS TO TAKE THREE OR MORE HIGH SCHOOL COURSES FOR FOUR OR MORE CREDITS, INCLUDING ONE LEVEL 3 OR LEVEL 4 COURSE WITHIN THE SAME PROGRAM OF STUDY.

WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE FOR US IN PLANO? WE HAVE TEACHING AND TRAINING, PRINCIPALS OF HUMAN SERVICES THAT THEY COULD TAKE AN EIGHTH GRADE, CHILD DEVELOPMENT, AND TENTH GRADE INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES.

THAT'S WHY WE REALLY LIKE SOME OF OUR TWO CREDIT COURSES THAT CAN HELP OUR STUDENTS OR SOME OF WHAT WE CALL OUR Q CLASSES, WHICH IS ONE CREDIT FOR A SEMESTER COURSE, AND THEN A PRACTICUM AND EDUCATION AND TRAINING.

THIS STUDENT HERE IS A CTE COMPLETER BECAUSE THEY HAVE MET THE THREE CLASSES FOR FOUR OR MORE CREDITS, ONE BEING A LEVEL THREE OR FOUR.

THEN FOR THIS STUDENT, THEY WOULD GET THE EDUCATIONAL AD ONE CERTIFICATION.

BUT THE EXTRA PIECE WITH THAT IS TO EARN THAT CERTIFICATION, THEY THEN HAVE TO GO GET A BACKGROUND CHECK AND FINGERPRINTED.

WELL, WE HAVE 5.5 CREDITS BECAUSE CAREER PREP IS THREE, AND THEN THEY WOULD TAKE A CERTIFICATION THAT IS A LINE THERE, WHICH COULD BE ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN SMALL BUSINESS OR A MOS CERTIFICATION DEPENDING UPON THE CLASS.

THEN THIS IS ONE WHERE WE WOULD HAVE A STUDENT THAT WOULD PROBABLY HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A PROBLEM AND NOT MEET THAT COMPLETER STATUS AND THAT'S BECAUSE THEY HAVE THREE CLASSES OR THEY HAVE FOUR CLASSES, BUT THEY DON'T HAVE IT FOR FOUR CREDITS.

EVEN IF THEY WENT IN AND TOOK THAT CERTIFIED VT ASSISTANT CERTIFICATION, THEY WOULD NOT HAVE THAT COMPLETER STATUS FOR CCMR BECAUSE THEY ARE MISSING OUT.

THAT JUST GIVES YOU A LITTLE BIT OF IDEA OF WHAT IT'S A PUZZLE, AND WE TRY TO PUT IT TOGETHER AND WE PUT IT TOGETHER FOR EVERY STUDENT.

CONCENTRATOR, WE EXPLAINED AND THEN A COMPLETER IS WHERE WE ULTIMATELY WANT THEM GOING FOR THE CLASSES.

WHAT YOU'RE SEEING HERE IS THAT WE HAVE HAD KIDS THAT HAVE TAKEN IN MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPALS OF HUMAN SERVICES, FOR HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT, PRINCIPLES OF ARTS AND AV, FOR HIGH SCHOOL CREDITS IN SEVENTH OR EIGHTH GRADE.

THEN WE HAVE TAKEN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND PRINCIPLES OF APPLIED ENGINEERING THAT WE CURRENTLY OR WE USED TO JUST OFFER IN EIGHTH GRADE AND WE EXPANDED THAT DOWN TO SEVENTH GRADE.

WHAT YOU'RE SEEING IS THAT WE HAVE MORE STUDENTS IN THE YOUNGER GRADES THAT ARE GETTING THAT EXPLORERS AND THEY'RE MOVING UP TO THOSE HIGHER LEVELS.

BUT BECAUSE THAT NINTH GRADE CLASS DIDN'T HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE THOSE CLASSES IN MIDDLE SCHOOL, THAT'S WHY YOU'RE SEEING THAT YELLOW BAR IN THE MIDDLE SO MUCH LOWER.

THE INCREASE IN OPPORTUNITIES FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLS TO EARN THAT HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT IS JUST REFLECTED THERE.

THOSE NINTH GRADE STUDENTS ARE JUST THE ONES THAT ULTIMATELY, UNFORTUNATELY MISSED OUT ON THOSE COURSES BEING OFFERED.

OUR GOAL OF OFFERING EARLIER ENTRY POINTS IS SOMETHING THAT WE WANT FOR STUDENTS BECAUSE THEY CAN START THOSE PROGRAMS OF STUDY EARLIER TO GET TO THAT PROGRAM OF STUDY AND IF THEY HAPPEN TO MAKE A CHANGE, WE CAN GET THEM TO THAT COMPLETER STATUS.

WHILE WE'RE SEEING GROWTH EVERY YEAR, WE KNOW THAT WE STILL HAVE WORK TO DO TO MOVE OUR STUDENTS TO BE THAT CONCENTRATOR AND COMPLETER STATUS.

BUT WE CAN TELL FROM THIS, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU LOOK AT YOUR CT AND CONCENTRATOR AND COMPLETER STATUS IN OUR UPPER 11TH AND 12TH GRADE, THAT WE ARE SEEING THAT GROWTH THAT IS STARTING TO WORK FROM THOSE INTENTIONAL CONVERSATIONS WITH STUDENTS.

INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATIONS THAT PREPARE STUDENTS FOR SUCCESS IN WORKFORCE, MILITARY, AND POST SECONDARY.

WE'RE GOING TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT WHAT IBC IS.

TA PUBLISHES THESE IBCS. THEY CALL FOR THEM.

THEY HAVE A CRITERIA OF SIX THINGS THAT YOU HAVE TO MEET TO HAVE IBC MEET THE LIST, IS WHAT WE CALL IT THE LIST.

WE MAKE SURE THAT WE EVALUATE THE LIST, WE COMPARE IT TO OUR CURRICULUM.

WE HAVE SOME TESTS THAT OUR TEACHERS ARE ALLOWED TO TAKE.

IF OUR TEACHERS ARE ALLOWED TO TAKE THE TEST, WE GET THEM A VOUCHER, WE MAKE SURE THEY TAKE THE TEST, SO IT ALIGNS TO OUR CURRICULUM.

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY, THE IBCS HAVEN'T BEEN AROUND FOREVER BUT FROM WHAT WE'VE SEEN OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, THE NUMBERS HAVE GROWN.

SINCE STUDENTS MAY EARN MORE THAN ONE CERTIFICATION,

YOU MAY SEE THAT IN 24-25, WE HAD A DIP IN THE NUMBER OF CERTIFICATIONS THAT WERE EARNED.

YOU MAY SAY, WELL, WHY DID WE HAVE SUCH A BIG DROP? IF YOU WILL NOTICE THAT IS WHEN WE LOST THE MOS CERTIFICATIONS.

WE ALSO HAD SOME CERTIFICATION, OUR CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT AND OUR PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN.

AT SOME POINT, WE WERE GIVING BOTH OF THOSE AND NOW WE ARE GIVING MORE OF THE PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN BECAUSE THAT'S MORE OF A TRANSFERABLE CERTIFICATION THAT INDUSTRY IS ASKING FOR BECAUSE IT COMBINES THREE DIFFERENT CERTIFICATIONS AND JUST ONE.

THAT IS THAT DIP BUT THE GREAT THING IS THAT WE SAW AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS ALMOST BY 200 THIS YEAR THAT EARNED A CERTIFICATION.

OVERALL, THE NUMBER IS DOWN BUT OUR STUDENT NUMBER IS UP AND THAT IS OUR GOALS IS THAT WE HAVE MORE STUDENTS IN THE ENDS GETTING THOSE CERTIFICATIONS.

OUR NUMBERS AREN'T DONE GROWING.

WE DO HAVE CERTIFICATIONS THAT THROUGH THE SUMMER CONTINUE TO GROW, THOSE ARE GOING TO BE OUR COSMETOLOGY.

NUMBERS, WE'VE HAD SOME KIDS THAT HAVE SAT FOR THE WRITTEN PRACTICUM, BUT THEY HAVEN'T DONE THEIR HANDS ON.

OUR EDUCATIONAL AID, OUR KIDS HAVE TO BE 18 TO GET THAT CERTIFICATION AND THEN OUR PHLEBOTOMY STUDENTS ARE STILL CONTINUING THAT AS WELL.

THE FIVE PHASES WE'RE STILL TRACKING HERE ARE DESIGNATED ON THE SCREEN.

WE'RE WELL INTO PHASES 1 AND 2, AS YOU CAN SEE BY THIS LINE HERE, AND WE ARE IN THE EARLY STAGES OF PHASE 3.

AS USUAL, THE PROJECT PHASING SCHEDULE NOTED IS FOR GENERAL PLANNING PURPOSES AND MAY BE ADJUSTED AS PROGRAMMING NEEDS WARRANT.

THE NEXT COUPLE OF SLIDES PROVIDE A QUICK, EASILY DIGESTIBLE OVERVIEW OF EACH PHASE AS TO WHAT IS COMPLETE UNDER CONSTRUCTION OR IN DESIGN.

SINCE OUR LAST UPDATE IN FEBRUARY, THE DISTRICT IRRIGATION MASTER CONTROL SYSTEM HAS BEEN COMPLETED, SO THAT WILL TURN GREEN.

WE ALSO BEGAN CONSTRUCTION ON THE HAGGARD MIDDLE SCHOOL REPLACEMENT PROJECT AND THE PACKAGE 2 OF PLANO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL'S MAJOR RENOVATION, WHICH WE'LL HAVE SOME SLIDES ON LATER IN THE PRESENTATION.

ON PHASE 2, WITH THE START OF SUMMER, THE SYSTEMS AND COMPLIANCE PROJECTS LISTED HERE HAVE ALL BEGUN IN EARNEST.

THE PLAYGROUNDS AND TRACKS, EXCEPT FOR FRANKFORD, WHICH IS IN THE CITY OF DALLAS, HAVE ALL BEGAN.

THEY BEGAN LATE LAST YEAR, SEPTEMBER AND DECEMBER, RESPECTIVELY, AND WE'LL BE WRAPPING UP WITH COMPLETION ANTICIPATED BY END OF THIS SUMMER.

THE TRANSPORTATION FUELING STATION APPROVED A CONTRACTOR MAY 20TH.

WE'LL START BEGINNING SUBMITTALS AND ORDERING OF THE LONG LEAD ITEMS LIKE THE FUEL TANKS AND CANOPIES.

THEN THE OTHERS LISTED AS IN DESIGN ARE ROUGHLY IN THE 90-95% CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS, SO THEY'LL BE GOING OUT TO BID HERE RELATIVELY SOON.

PHASE 3. PHASE 3 HAS GOT ITS OWN SLIDE ON THIS ONE.

WE'RE AGAIN IN INITIAL STAGES.

ARCHITECTS AND ENGINEERS FOR THE REMAINING PROJECTS, THOSE INSISTS IN COMPLIANCE AND THOSE HERE, WE'LL HAVE THOSE RECOMMENDED TO OUR AUGUST BOARD SO WE CAN BEGIN LINING THOSE PROJECTS OUT.

PHASE 4 AND 5 HAVE NOT CHANGED SINCE LAST TIME.

ISAACS EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL IS ADDING 8,400 SQUARE FEET, WHICH INCLUDES EXPANDING THE EXISTING ACTIVITY ROOM AND PROVIDING A NEW KITCHEN DINING ROOM.

THE KITCHEN AND DINING ROOM ADDITION, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THESE PICTURES, THE CMU WALLS ARE COMPLETE.

STEEL AND EXTERIOR FRAMING IS GOING UP, AND ROOFING HAS RECENTLY BEGUN.

THE ACTIVITY ROOM SIDE, WHICH IS NOT PICTURED HERE IS AN EXPANSION OF THE EXISTING ACTIVITY ROOM, AND IT'S ADDITION, THE PIERS ARE COMPLETE, SO ARE GRADE BEAMS. WHEN SUMMER BEGAN, THEY TORE DOWN THE WALL

THE EXISTING ACTIVITY ROOM WILL BE RENOVATED TO DINING.

ROOFING AT BOTH THE KITCHEN AND THE ACTIVITY ROOMS ARE COMPLETE.

MASONRY HAS BEGUN, AND INTERIOR WALLS ARE BEING DRY WALLED.

WE'RE ON SCHEDULED TO COMPLETE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUST 2025.

WILLIAMS HIGH SCHOOL, PHASE 2 RENOVATION.

THIS IS THE REST OF THE RENOVATION WORK AFTER PHASE 1 MOVED THE ADMINISTRATION SUITE TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE BUILDING AND DID A SPECIAL EDUCATION SUITE AND A FEW ADDITIONAL CLASSROOMS. THIS PHASE 2 RENOVATION IS THE REST OF THE PROJECT, WHERE WE ARE CURRENTLY ACTIVELY IN PHASES 2, 04, 5, AND 6, TWO BEING THE CENTRAL SPINE.

FOUR AND FIVE ARE GENERAL CLASSROOM SPACES, SOME OF THE CTE LABS AND STUFF, PHASE 6 IS OUR DINING AND OUR KITCHEN SPACE.

THE PLANO SENIOR SOFTBALL FIELD WAS THE FIRST THING IN THE WAY AND WAS DEMOED STRAIGHT AWAY AS SOON AS THEY COULD.

AS SEEN IN THIS PICTURE, THE BUILDING PAD IS COMPLETE, MEANING THE NECESSARY SITE PREP WORK HAS BEEN FINISHED, CREATING A LEVELED AND COMPACTED AREA FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW BUILDING.

WE HAVE TWO PACKAGES ON THAT PROJECT.

IT WAS RELEASED IN TWO PACKAGES.

PACKAGE 1 IS THE BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL COMPLEX, WHICH BEGAN CONSTRUCTION IN SEPTEMBER OF LAST YEAR.

THE NEWLY TURF FIELDS, BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL, WERE TURNED OVER FOR PRACTICES ONLY IN FEBRUARY.

YOU CAN SEE A GLIMPSE OF THAT NEW TURF IN THE UPPER LEFT PHOTO.

IN THE BACKGROUND, YOU CAN SEE WHAT SOME OF THE REST OF THE PACKAGE INCLUDES, WHICH IS DUGOUT EXPANSIONS, CONCESSIONS, RESTROOMS, NEW BATTING TUNNELS.

THOSE WILL ALL BE COMPLETE MID JUNE AND THAT'LL COMPLETE PACKAGE 1.

THEY'RE CURRENTLY COMPLETING THE ROOF WORK ON BOTH OF THE DUGOUTS AND SOME OF THE MASONRY AND INTERIOR FINISHES HAVE ALSO BEGUN.

PACKAGE 2 IS THE BULK OF THE WORK, THE MAJOR RENOVATION EFFORT TO THE SCHOOL BUILDINGS PROPER, WHICH WILL HAPPEN IN PHASES FROM NOW UNTIL FEBRUARY 2029.

THE GMP FOR THIS PACKAGE WAS APPROVED MARCH 11TH.

THE FIRST PHASE HINGES AROUND ATHLETIC BUILDING E, WHICH IS LOCATED HERE.

THE CITY GAVE US A DEMO PERMIT ON BUILDING F, WHICH WAS THE EXISTING STUDENT ACTIVITY CENTER, WHICH YOU JUST SEE LITTLE DIRT REMAINS OF.

ON MARCH 25TH, WE RECEIVED THAT BUILDING F PERMIT, AND IT WAS QUICKLY TAKEN DOWN.

YOU CAN SEE THAT IT'S GONE ALONG WITH THE TENNIS COURTS, THOSE TWO GRAY AREAS THERE AND THE BAND PRACTICE FIELD THAT WAS LOCATED THERE.

ALL CLEARING THAT SIDE OUT FOR THE ADDITION TO BUILDING E. THE EXISTING BAND PRACTICE FIELD,

EXISTING FOOTBALL LOCKER ROOM, AND BUILDING E HAS BEEN VACATED AND ALL OF WOMEN'S LOCKER ROOMS HAVE BEEN TEMPORARY RELOCATED THERE TO THAT AREA AS THEIR SPACE IS RENOVATED.

THIS PHASE IS SCHEDULED TO BE COMPLETED BY THE END OF THE YEAR. CLARK HIGH SCHOOL.

THIS PROJECT INCLUDES STRUCTURAL REPAIRS OF THE SPECIAL EDUCATION AREA, TWO INTERIOR STAIRS, SOME SIDEWALKS AND A RAMP ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE BUILDING ALONG WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SLAB AND FLOOR IN THE MAIN COMPETITION GYM.

FIBER LINES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED FROM OXFORD DRIVE AND MAPLESHADE DRIVE, SATISFYING OUR R PLANO ISD'S REQUIRED REDUNDANT FEEDS FROM TWO INDEPENDENT PATHWAYS.

INSIDE THE BUILDING, THE PA SYSTEM HAS BEEN INSTALLED.
