    PLANO ISD STUDENTS COMPETED IN THE ANNUAL TEXAS JUNIOR SCIENCE HUMANITIES SYMPOSIUM, THE TJHS COMPETITION, HELD IN JANUARY IN COLLEGE STATION. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS GRADES 9 THROUGH 12 FROM ACROSS THE STATE SUBMITTED THEIR RESEARCH AND APPLICATIONS, AND 22 PLANO ISD STUDENTS FROM FOUR CAMPUSES WERE SELECTED TO PRESENT AT THE COMPETITION.

    FIVE OF THEM PLACED FIRST IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CATEGORIES, AND OF THOSE STUDENTS, THREE TOOK OVERALL FIRST, SECOND, AND THIRD PLACE IN THE ENTIRE COMPETITION.

    THEY ARE SIRI PEDDINTI PLANO EAST SENIOR HIGH, FIRST PLACE IN LIFE AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES.

    DIYA. WELL, YES [APPLAUSE]. DIYA SHAH, PLANO EAST SENIOR HIGH SECOND PLACE, SCHOOL OF MEDICINE AND HEALTH [APPLAUSE]. AND CHLOE LEE, PLANO EAST SENIOR HIGH, THIRD PLACE IN CHEMISTRY. CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE WINNERS ON THEIR OUTSTANDING WORK [APPLAUSE].

    THAT'S PRETTY INCREDIBLE. I COULD NEVER EVEN PROBABLY FIGURE OUT WHAT I WAS GOING TO WEAR IN THE MORNING, LOOK AT THESE KIDS. ALL RIGHT.

    FOUR PLANO ISD, HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WERE NAMED TO THE TOP 300 SCHOLARS IN THE 84TH REGENERON SCIENCE TALENT SEARCH, THE NATION'S MOST PRESTIGIOUS SCIENCE AND MATH COMPETITION FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS.

    THESE STUDENTS WERE SELECTED FROM OVER 2,500 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED FROM NEARLY 800 HIGH SCHOOLS ACROSS 48 STATES GUAM, PUERTO RICO AND 14 OTHER COUNTRIES, MORE THAN DOUBLE THE NUMBER OF NUMBER OF THE APPLICANTS FROM 2024.

    THE STUDENTS AND THEIR SCHOOLS WERE EACH AWARDED $2,000.

    THE TMEA ALL-STATE CONCERTS WILL BE HELD AT THE HENRY B GONZALEZ CONVENTION CENTER IN SAN ANTONIO IN FEBRUARY.

SEMIFINALISTS WERE SELECTED FROM A POOL OF OVER 1.3 MILLION JUNIORS ACROSS APPROXIMATELY 21,000 HIGH SCHOOLS NATIONWIDE, REPRESENTING LESS THAN 1% OF U.S.

WHEREAS FEBRUARY 3RD THROUGH THE 7TH, 2025 IS RECOGNIZED AS NATIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELING WEEK IN COORDINATION WITH THE AMERICAN SCHOOL COUNSELOR ASSOCIATION, HONORING THE ESSENTIAL ROLE SCHOOL COUNSELORS PLAY IN SUPPORTING STUDENT SUCCESS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES.

    AND WHEREAS SCHOOL COUNSELORS ARE EMPLOYED IN PLANO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT TO HELP STUDENTS ACTIVATE THEIR UNIQUE POTENTIAL.

    FRED N. MOSES, 1949 TO 2025. WHEREAS FRED N. MOSES, WHO PASSED AWAY ON JANUARY 24TH, 2025, WAS AN EXEMPLARY LEADER, PHILANTHROPIST AND ADVOCATE FOR EDUCATION IN PLANO AND COLLIN COUNTY FOR OVER FOUR DECADES.

    AND WHEREAS, MR. MOSES SERVED WITH DISTINCTION AS A TRUSTEE ON THE COLLIN COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, STRENGTHENING THE LONG STANDING PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN PLANO ISD AND COLLIN COLLEGE, WHICH HAS BENEFITED COUNTLESS PLANO ISD GRADUATES.

    AND WHEREAS MR. THE ACCREDITATION STATUS IS BASED ON THE ACADEMIC ACCOUNTABILITY RATING AND FINANCIAL RATINGS FROM THE FINANCIAL INTEGRITY RATING SYSTEM OF TEXAS. A DISTRICT OR CHARTER MUST BE ACCREDITED BY THE STATE TO OPERATE AS A PUBLIC SCHOOL.

    HOWEVER, THIS YEAR IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT. WE'RE STILL IN THE PROCESS OF RESOLVING LAWSUITS ON THE ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM.

    AS OF DECEMBER 2024, THE TAPR DOES NOT INCLUDE A THROUGH F RATINGS DISTINCTION DESIGNATIONS DUE TO THE PENDING LITIGATION SURROUNDING THE COMMUNICATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE 2024 RATING SYSTEM.

    BASED ON WHAT THE AGENCY IS ALLOWED TO REPORT FOR 23-24, PLANO ISD IS AN ACCREDITED SCHOOL DISTRICT WITH A A SUPERIOR ACHIEVEMENT FINANCIAL FIRST RATING AND HAS A SPECIAL EDUCATION DETERMINATION STATUS OF MEETS REQUIREMENTS, WHICH IS THE HIGHEST RATING YOU CAN RECEIVE.

    CCMR DATA LIKE GRADUATION DATA, IS LAGGING DATA DUE TO THE AVAILABILITY AT THE TIME OF THE CALCULATIONS.

    THIS DATA IS FROM THE CLASS OF 2023. THE DISTRICT HAS MADE SIGNIFICANT GAINS IN THE NUMBER OF GRADUATING SENIORS EARNING AN INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATION, INCREASING FROM 8.5% FOR THE CLASS OF 2020 TO 23% FOR THE CLASS OF 2023.

    IN 2023. A WEBSITE REVIEW COMMITTEE WAS FORMED TO ASSESS THE CURRENT WEBSITE AND ENVISION A FUTURE DIRECTION.

    AFTER CAREFUL REVIEW, WE ISSUED AN RFP IN THE SPRING OF 2024 AND AT THAT TIME SELECTED THE NEW VENDOR, WHICH HAPPENED TO BE FINAL SITE. THE WEBSITE REVIEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS INCLUDE ARE LISTED HERE ON THE SCREEN.

    WE JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU FOR THEIR HARD WORK.

    SO CURRENTLY LAN IS THE MOST VERSED IN ALL YOU KNOW, WHAT'S REQUIRED IN UPDATING THE SITE.

    SO I KEEP TELLING HER SHE CAN'T GO ANYWHERE. IN DECEMBER, MOST RECENTLY, WE FORMED A PRINCIPAL ADVISORY GROUP.

    AND SO SOME OF THOSE KEY FINDINGS DURING THAT SURVEY THAT WE KIND OF PULLED OUT WAS THAT USERS LET US KNOW THAT THEY PRIMARILY VISIT THE WEBSITE FOR THE ACADEMIC CALENDAR, SCHOOL EVENTS, NEWS AND STUDENT AND PARENT RESOURCES LIKE SKYWARD AND SCHOOL LINKS.

    AND THEN USERS EXPRESSED WE ASKED THEM HOW THEY LIKE TO RECEIVE COMMUNICATION.

    THEY EXPRESSED A STRONG PREFERENCE FOR EMAIL COMMUNICATION, BUT THERE WAS A LOT OF INTEREST IN TEXT MESSAGES AS WELL.

    SO WE JUST THOUGHT THAT WAS INTERESTING TO KNOW AS WE BUILD OUR SITE AND THINK ABOUT MASS COMMUNICATIONS.

    THIS NEXT SLIDE GIVES YOU A SWOT ANALYSIS OF THE STAKEHOLDER SURVEY.

    IN THE SPRING OF 2024, WE FOCUSED INTENSIVELY ON DEVELOPING PROCESSES THAT ENABLED US TO CAPTURE DATA EFFECTIVELY WHILE FOSTERING A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF PARTNERSHIP BENEFITS AND HOW WE COULD BE VALUABLE TO OUR PARTNERS IN RETURN.

    SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ALIGNING AND MAKING SURE THAT THE PROGRAM IS EFFECTIVE FOR EACH OF OUR DEPARTMENTS.

    WE ALSO WANT TO TAKE A MOMENT TO DELVE DEEPER INTO THE DATA FROM SALESFORCE.

    THE DATA THAT'S GOING IN RIGHT NOW IS THE DATA THAT'S GOING TO BE USED TO CREATE THOSE PIE LUNCHEON INVITATIONS.

    LAST YEAR, THAT INFORMATION WAS SILOED ACROSS THE DISTRICT, SO WE WERE HUNTING DOWN PARTNERS AND PARTNERSHIPS AND INFORMATION FOR MONTHS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAD HAD EVERYBODY IN THE SYSTEM. THIS YEAR, SINCE WE ARE UTILIZING THIS SYSTEM AND PEOPLE ARE PUTTING IT IN, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A MUCH GREATER IDEA AND FEEL CONFIDENT IN WHO WE'RE RECOGNIZING AND AT WHAT LEVEL.

    OUR ELEMENTARY CAMPUSES WERE ABLE TO REQUEST A LICENSE, BUT THEY WERE NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE ONE.

    THAT'S MAINLY BECAUSE PARTNERSHIPS THAT ARE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ARE TYPICALLY JUST A LITTLE BIT NOT QUITE AS ROBUST, AND THEY'RE EASIER TO MANAGE. WE DO OFFER CAMPUSES OR DEPARTMENTS THAT AREN'T USING AN ACTUAL LICENSE THAT FORM ASSEMBLY FORM.

    WE HAVE ONE THAT IS OPEN FOR THEM TO GO AND ENTER THEIR GIFTS.

    THEY'RE ABLE TO ENTER THEIR GIFTS, AND WHEN THEY'RE ON THAT FORM, IT'S AUTOMATICALLY SEARCHING FOR THE PARTNER INFORMATION SO THEY'RE NOT HAVING TO REENTER IT. SINCE NOVEMBER, WE'VE RECEIVED 500 NOVEMBER 1ST IS WHEN WE WENT FULL ON LIVE.

    WE TACKLED THAT THROUGH SOME ADDITIONAL TRAINING, SOME PRESENTATIONS, AND THEN OF COURSE, SOME INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS.

    AFTER IMPLEMENTING SALESFORCE, WE OPTIMIZED WORKFLOW FOR BETTER EFFICIENCY AND CLARITY REGARDING THE PARTNERS IN EDUCATION PROGRAM AND ITS PURPOSE AND CONTRIBUTIONS.

    AND THEN TO BRIDGE ANY TRAINING GAPS THAT WE MAY HAVE HAD, WE ADOPTED KIND OF A SUPPORTIVE APPROACH.

    SO OUR STRONGER USERS, WE PARTNERED WITH SOME OF OUR USERS THAT NEEDED A LITTLE MORE ASSISTANCE.

    ISAAC'S EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL, ISAAC'S, IS ADDING 8,400FT², WHICH INCLUDES EXPANDING THE EXISTING ACTIVITY ROOM TO THE WEST AND PROVIDING A NEW KITCHEN AND DINING ROOM TO THE EAST. SO PIERS ARE COMPLETE ON THE KITCHEN AND DINING ROOM ADDITION THAT'S LOCATED HERE IN THE LOWER LEFT.

    THEY'RE STARTING TO FORM THE GRAY BEAMS. WE RAN INTO A LITTLE BIT OF GROUNDWATER ON THE ACTIVITY ROOM SIDE, WHICH IS IN THE UPPER LEFT. SO CASING WE'RE HAVING TO CASE THE PIERS.

SO THAT TEMPORARY SERVING LINE WILL CONTINUE TO BE IN PLAY WHILE THEY COMPLETE WORK IN THE KITCHEN BEHIND CONSTRUCTION WALL. EXPECT TO WRAP THAT UP IN MARCH OF 2025.

THEY RECEIVED 320 TO 330 BIDS SHOWING GOOD PARTICIPATION, GOOD COVERAGE AND COMPETITION. AND WE AGREED THAT WE NEEDED MORE TIME TO SCOPE IT.

    AND SO GOT IT ON THE CONSENT AGENDA TONIGHT AND GOT IT APPROVED.

    REWIND VLK ISSUED THE IFC SET OCTOBER 31ST. NEXT DAY, NOVEMBER 1ST, PLANS ARE SUBMITTED TO THE CITY FOR PERMITTING.

    FROM NOVEMBER TO TODAY, HAGGARD HAS CURRENTLY SATISFIED THE BUILDING HEALTH AND STORM SHELTER REVIEWS AND SHOULD BE RECEIVING ENGINEERING APPROVAL IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS.

    THERE HAVE BEEN CHALLENGES BY HAVING TWO SEPARATE PROJECTS ON THE SAME SITE. PLANO SENIOR AND HAGGARD, WITH DIFFERENT PHASING NEEDS THAT HAVE LED TO SOME DIFFICULTY IN SATISFYING BOTH LEGAL AND PROCEDURAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE CITY OF PLANO THAT MUST BE ADHERED TO. THE HAGGARD PROJECT HAS BEEN A COLLABORATION EFFORT WITH VLK, CORE, OURSELVES AND THE CITY OF PLANO, AS WELL AS THE PLANO SENIOR DESIGN TEAM.

    WE HAVE ALL WORKED DILIGENTLY TO ENSURE PROJECT DELIVERY TO THE BEST OF OUR COLLECTIVE ABILITIES, WHILE MAINTAINING OPEN DIALOG WITH ALL PARTIES INVOLVED.

PHASE TWO WILL THEN BE TAKING KIND OF MORE SPACES THAT OCCUPY THIS SPACE, GETTING THEM INTO TEMPORARY LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING TO FINISH THE SPED SUITE. PHASE CONSTRUCTION WOULD CONTINUE THROUGH JULY 2027.

    EACH GRADE LEVEL WILL ACCOMMODATE FOUR CLASSROOMS PLUS ONE DEAF ED CLASSROOM.

    CAMPUS WILL ALSO CONTAIN FOUR PRE-K CLASSROOMS WITH ACTIVITY ROOM.

    ONE DEAF PLUS SPED CLASSROOM. THE PROJECT WILL INCLUDE ACOUSTIC IMPROVEMENTS TO CORRIDORS, GYM, CAFETERIA, PACE, ART AND MUSIC ROOMS, AND WILL ALSO INCLUDE A DEAF ED AUDIO SYSTEM.

    THE LIBRARY RENOVATION WILL BE DESIGNED FOR MORE FLEXIBLE LEARNING, AND BREAKOUT SPACE WILL HAVE WAYFINDING GRAPHICS THAT WILL BE INCORPORATED THROUGHOUT THE CAMPUS, AND A VISUAL ALERT NOTIFICATION SYSTEM WILL ALSO BE INSTALLED.

    MAYBE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER CONSTRUCTION [LAUGHTER] BECAUSE WE HAVE LOTS OF THINGS UNDER CONSTRUCTION FROM OUR STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEM, FROM OUR ERP ENTERPRISE SYSTEM, AND THEN OUR ACTUAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS, OUR WEBSITE, OUR PARTNERS IN EDUCATION.

    SO WE HAVE A LOT OF THINGS. BUT IN A COUPLE OF YEARS WHEN WE FINALLY GET THE CONSTRUCTION STUFF COMPLETED AND THE DUST OFF OF THINGS, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A LOT OF THINGS.

    YES, WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A LOT OF GREAT PROGRAMS, FACILITIES SYSTEMS AND THAT WILL BENEFIT OUR KIDS AND THAT OUR COMMUNITY WILL BE VERY PROUD OF. AND SO A LOT OF GRATITUDE TO THE TEAM THAT'S CARRYING A VERY HEAVY LOAD AND A VERY BIG LIFT THIS YEAR WITH ALL THINGS UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

    OKAY, YOU SAID THAT, BUT I HAVE NOW ONE MORE THING TO SAY. SO I WILL NEVER FORGET COACH KIMBROUGH.

    WHEN WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE BOND PROGRAM BACK IN 2022, YOU KNOW, HE WAS THE COACH AT BOWMAN BACK IN 1965 WHEN BOWMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL OPENED.

    AND HE TOLD ME THAT HE TOLD ME HE TOLD ME THAT KIDS DO BETTER IN BUILDINGS WHERE THEY FEEL PROUD TO WALK IN EVERY DAY, AND THAT THEY'RE GOING TO ACHIEVE BETTER WHEN THEY FEEL THAT PRIDE OF BEING IN THAT BUILDING AND KNOWING THAT THE COMMUNITY HAS INVESTED IN THEM.

    AND HE PUT TO WORDS WHAT I KNEW. AND SO I REALLY APPRECIATE THAT HE VERBALIZED THAT.

    AND FOR ME, AND I HOPE THE COMMUNITY WILL BE AS PROUD AS I KNOW WE ALL WILL BE.
