11 YEARS AGO RIGHT. IT STARTED ELEVEN YEARS AGO SO IT'S BECOME A THING IS TRENDING. ESPECIALLY THIS MOUTH AND EVERYWHERE EVERYBODY IS TALKING ABOUT IT AND [INAUDIBLE] DONATION STARTS IN SEPTEMBER 9TH. YEAH. SO FIRST OF ALL I WAS TOUCHED. I HAVE BEEN AND  ALWAYS TOUCHED BY THE SPIRIT OF GIVING OF AMERICAN PEOPLE. AND AMERICANS GAVE AT THE LEVEL FOUR TIMES THAT OF BRITAIN AND GERMANY. AND WE THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO GIVE. I MEAN THINK ABOUT IT AND WE WE ARE ALL FROM DIFFERENT CULTURAL AND RELIGIOUS BACKGROUNDS AND WE ALL HAVE A CULTURE OF GIVING. IN JUDAISM IT'S CALLED [INAUDIBLE].  [INAUDIBLE] IS THE WORD FOR GIVING AND ISLAM [INAUDIBLE] IS IT IS IS IMPORTANT IS ONLY SECOND TO PRAYER AND IN HINDU WE HAVE A VERY FAMOUS VERY FAMOUS PROVERB IS IT SAID HELP YOUR BROTHER'S BOAT ACROSS AND [INAUDIBLE] THY OWN HAS REACHED THE SHORE. I AM ALSO A CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHOLOGIST AND I'M WANTING TO SPEAK TO YOU ALL TODAY ABOUT AN ISSUE RELATED TO TEACHER REASSIGNMENT THAT AFFECTED MY CHILD THIS YEAR. YOU ALL HAVE, MOST OF YOU RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM ME TO THIS EFFECT BUT I JUST WANTED TO COME AND PRESENT FACE TO FACE AS WELL. I WANT TO THANK FIRST OF ALL, [INAUDIBLE] ANDERSON THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SCHOOL LEADERSHIP AND INNOVATION THERESA WILLIAMS THE CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF PISD. SO I'M GOING TO JUST BRIEFLY ADDRESS THE WHAT WHY WHO WHEN AND HOW OF MY CONCERNS. SO WHAT IS TEACHER REASSIGNMENT AND THAT SPECIFICALLY MEANS TEACHERS THAT ARE TAKEN OUT OF A SCHOOL BECAUSE OF LOW ENROLLMENT AND OR TEACHERS THAT ARE BROUGHT TO A SCHOOL DUE TO UNEXPECTED HIGH ENROLLMENT. THE WHY OF THIS THEN IS THAT AFFECTS ME PERSONALLY IS ENROLLMENT AND CLASS SIZE BECAUSE CLEARLY WHEN WE'RE BRINGING TEACHERS IN OR  TAKING TEACHERS OUT THIS AFFECTS THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS IN A CLASSROOM AND THE STUDENT TO TEACHER RATIO WHICH MOST OF US ARE FAMILIAR WITH EDUCATION UNDERSTAND IS LOWER RATIOS ARE BETTER FOR OUR STUDENTS BY AND LARGE. WHO THIS AFFECTS BELOVED TEACHERS WITHIN SCHOOL COMMUNITIES IT AFFECTS OUR STUDENTS BOTH THE ONES THAT ARE AFFECTED BY A TEACHER BEING TAKEN OUT OF A GRADE LEVEL. ONE MINUTE. PARDON? ONE MINUTE. THAT'S ALREADY. IT'S ONE MINUTE LEFT. LEFT OK. AND THE WHEN IN TERMS OF PROJECTIONS THAT WERE BASED ON LAST YEAR'S ESTIMATES THAT WERE NOT ACTED ON WHEN WE HAD NUMBERS FROM THE KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP THAT WERE NOT ACTED ON WHEN WE HAD FALL ENROLLMENT NUMBERS THAT WERE NOT ACTED ON WHEN TEACHERS WERE ASSIGNED TWO OR THREE DAYS BEFORE THE SCHOOL YEAR STARTED BUT WE'RE NOT ACTED ON UNTIL TWO WEEKS AFTER THE SCHOOL YEAR. AND THEN THE HOW JUST WE GOT A LETTER HOME ON MONDAY THAT OUR KIDS WOULD BE IN A DIFFERENT CLASS ON TUESDAY. THE TEACHER WAS GOING TO BE REASSIGNED. WE HAD LIKE TWO DAYS TO GET MAKE THAT TRANSITION AND THAT'S JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE ON A NUMBER OF LEVELS. MY SUGGESTION IS THAT PRACTICE WHAT WE WOULD USE PROJECTIONS THAT ARE BASED ON ACTUAL NUMBERS NOT ESTIMATES THAT WE WOULD MAKE THESE DECISIONS MUCH CLOSER TO THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR SO THAT FEWER PEOPLE ARE DISRUPTED AND IF A DECISION HAS TO BE MADE FOR REASSIGNMENT THAT IS MADE BASED ON A NEW TEACHER BEING BROUGHT IN AND NOT AND CLASS SIZES BEING REDUCED RATHER THAN INCREASED. AT STINSON IN MANY WAYS IT FEELS LIKE FOREVER BUT IN A GOOD WAY. MY GOAL IS TO LEAVE WITH MY OWN TEETH. BUT AT THIS POINT IT'S ANYONE'S GUESS IF THAT'S ACTUALLY GOING TO HAPPEN. AND I WANT TO PREFACE THIS BY SAYING THAT I KNOW THAT RUNNING A SCHOOL AND CERTAINLY A DISTRICT IS TOUGH WORK. THERE ARE NO EASY ANSWERS LOTS OF OPINIONS AND PLENTY OF UNPOPULAR DECISIONS. THAT'S LIFE AND THAT'S WORK.

BUT OF COURSE WHEN YOUR LIFE'S WORK IS KIDS IT GETS A LOT MORE COMPLICATED. SO WE LOVE STINSON BUT WE GOT HANDED SOME SERIOUS LEMONS LATELY AND I WON'T GO OVER IT BECAUSE I THINK MOLLY DID A GOOD JOB BUT WITH REASSIGNING A TEACHER SO ABRUPTLY BREAKING UP A CLASS AND ESSENTIALLY CAUSING CHAOS. YOU KNOW WE GOT HANDED THE LEMONS BUT I DON'T SEE US MAKING LEMONADE OUT OF THIS SITUATION BECAUSE THE NUT SHELL WAS CLASSES WERE FORMED AND THEN A TEACHER A VALUABLE LINCHPIN TO THE WHOLE SITUATION WAS SUBTRACTED. AND IT'S THE WORST KIND OF MATH I'VE SEEN TAKE PLACE AT STINSON IN 12 YEARS. SO I'M HERE BECAUSE I WANT TO SPEAK UP OR SPEAK OUT ABOUT NOT JUST FOR THE TEACHER WHO WAS MISTREATED IN THIS SITUATION OR THE KIDS WHO WERE PARCELED OUT AND JUST TREATED LIKE NUMBERS AND TO BE MOVED TO OTHER CLASSROOMS THAT ARE NOW KIND OF BURSTING AT THE SEAMS. SO WE ARE AT THE FINAL STEP IN THE FOR THE 2019-2020 FISCAL YEAR AND SCHOOL YEAR AS FAR AS ADOPTING THE BUDGET AND THE TAX RATE. AS WE MOVE INTO THIS WE'VE GOT THE BUDGET AND TAX RATE CALENDAR. AND SO WE PUBLISHED THE ORIGINAL TAX AND BUDGET NOTICE BACK ON JUNE 13TH AND THEN WE HAD TO DO THAT AT LEAST 10 TO 30 DAYS BETWEEN 10 AND 30 DAYS PRIOR TO ADOPTION OF THE BUDGET. IN THE MEANTIME WE DID GET CERTIFIED VALUES. WE RECEIVED THOSE ON JULY 16TH AND WE HAD TO MAKE CHANGES TO THAT TAX NOTICE. THIS IS ONE YEAR THAT IN HOUSE BILL THREE IT ALLOWED US TO ONLY MAKE THOSE CHANGES AND POST THAT ON OUR WEBSITE. AND SO WE DIDN'T HAVE TO REPUBLISH THAT IN THE PAPER. WE DID PUBLISH THAT WITH A $1.17 M&O RATE AND 26.9 I&S. THE RATES THAT WE'RE PROPOSING TO NOT ARE LOWER THAN THOSE AS REQUIRED BY HOUSE BILL 3. SO OUR CURRENT OUR 18-19 TAX RATES WERE $1.17 M&O, 26.9 I&S FOR A TOTAL OF $1.439.

HOUSE BILL THREE DID COMPRESS THE M&O RATE DOWN TO 1.06835 AND THAT WAS JUST OVER A 10 CENT TAX REDUCTION AND SO THAT'S OUT OF OUR CONTROL THAT'S THE CAP OF WHAT OUR M&O RATE CAN BE DUE TO US BEING IN $1.17.

THE I&S RATE IS PROPOSED TO BE AT THE SAME RATE WE ARE LOOKING AT IT ISSUING ADDITIONAL TECHNOLOGY BONDS IN NOVEMBER AND SO THAT WAS PART OF THE BOND PLAN THAT WILL BE IN THE 13 TO 14 MILLION DOLLAR RANGE. WE MAY HAVE A ONE YEAR PAYBACK ON THOSE BONDS WE MAY HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO THAT. WE DON'T THINK IT WILL BE MORE THAN TWO BUT WE WILL KEEP YOU POSTED AS WE CONTINUE TO WORK THROUGH THAT. BOND RATES ARE VERY LOW AS YOU KNOW AND SO THAT'S WORKING TO OUR ADVANTAGE. IT'S A GOOD TIME TO ISSUE. THEY'RE REALLY AT A HISTORIC LOW. SO OUR TOTAL PROPOSED RATE FOR 19-20 IS $1.33735.

AND AGAIN THAT IS SLIGHTLY MORE THAN A 10 CENT DECREASE FROM THE PRIOR YEAR. WE'VE GOT A HISTORY OF OUR TOTAL TAX RATE HERE THAT GOES BACK 10 YEARS AND THE PROPOSED $1.33 AND SOME CHANGE THAT'S THE LOWEST WE'VE BEEN SINCE BACK IN FISCAL YEAR 2010. SO  WE'RE HAPPY TO SEE THAT GO DOWN AND THE BENEFITS THAT OUR TAXPAYERS SEE. WHEN WE LOOK AT THE IMPACT ON THE AVERAGE RESIDENCE LAST YEAR THE $1.439 CAUSED THE AVERAGE RESIDENT FIVE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FOUR DOLLARS IN SCHOOL TAXES. THAT NUMBER IS DOWN EVEN THOUGH THE VALUES HAVE GONE UP ON THE HOMES. THE TOTAL TAXES ARE DOWN ALMOST 180 DOLLARS OR JUST OVER A HUNDRED AND EIGHTY DOLLARS. AND THAT WOULD BE FOUR THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SIXTEEN DOLLARS ON AN ANNUAL BASIS ON THAT AVERAGE RESIDENCE. WE ALSO POLLED OUR OUR NEIGHBORS AROUND US THAT HAD ADOPTED THEIR TAX RATE OR FELT GOOD

THEN FARMERSVILLE IS THE ONLY DISTRICT IN THE AREA THAT IS LOWER THAN OURS. SO WHEN WE LOOK AT THE WELL WHAT PLANO IS CALLED THE STATE RECAPTURE TAX. RECAPTURE WAS BOUGHT DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY BY HOUSE BILL 3 YOU'RE AWARE OF THAT WE'VE TALKED ABOUT THAT IN BUDGET MEETINGS BUT ON THE 19-20 BUDGET RECAPTURE IS IN THE HUNDRED AND SIXTY MILLION DOLLAR RANGE. THE M&O  TAXES THAT WE EXPECT TO KEEP ARE ABOUT FOUR HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE MILLION IN TOTAL TAX REVENUE IS DOWN FROM ABOUT SIX HUNDRED EIGHTEEN MILLION DOWN TO FIVE HUNDRED EIGHTY FIVE MILLION BECAUSE THAT COMPRESSION OF THE M&O TAX RATE. LAST YEAR WAS THE PEAK OF THAT WITH THE $1.17 ABOUT 77 CENTS OF THAT WAS STAYING LOCALLY AND APPROXIMATELY 40 CENTS OF THAT WAS GOING TO STATE RECAPTURE. THIS YEAR THAT IMPROVED TO 77.7 CENTS STAYING WITH THE DISTRICT AND JUST OVER 29 CENTS THAT IS GOING AS RECAPTURE. SO SOME OF THE TAX RATES AS WE KNOW IT GETS REAL CONFUSING ON TAX RATE AND LANGUAGE, IT  GOT MORE CONFUSING THIS YEAR WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF HOUSE BILL 3. WE WERE REQUIRED TO STILL CALCULATE THE EFFECTIVE TAX RATE AND THAT WAS A $1.488. \AGAIN IT WAS VERY CONFUSING BECAUSE WE WERE USING SOME THINGS THAT WERE OLD LAW AND SOME THINGS THAT WERE NEW LAW UNDER HOUSE BILL THREE AND AT THE TIME WE WEREN'T GETTING MUCH GUIDANCE FROM DEFINITELY NOT FROM THE STATE COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE AND EVEN TEA. BUT OUR EFFECTIVE RATE UNDER THE OLD CALCULATION CALCULATED TO $1.488, OUR TAX RATE NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN THE SAME LEVEL OF MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS REVENUE PER PUPIL WAS $1.17002 THAT WAS ALSO A COMPLICATED RATE THAT WAS SKEWED BY HOUSE BILL 3 AND MOST OF US IN THE SCHOOL BUSINESS LOOKED AT THAT AND IT NEVER HAS MEANT A WHOLE LOT. BUT IT SURE DIDN'T MEAN A LOT THIS YEAR WE WERE ALL CONFUSED BY THE CALCULATION. OF WHAT WE USED TO CALL THE ROLLBACK RATE IS NOW CALLED THE VOTER APPROVED RATE AND SO THAT'S OUR NEW MAXIMUM THAT WE CAN ADOPT AFTER COMPRESSION. SO THAT IS THE $1.33735. A DEBT SERVICE RATE AND A MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS RATE. AND WHEREAS THE DISTRICT IS NEVERTHELESS REQUIRED BY SECTION  26.05 OF THE PROPERTY TAX CODE TO STATE THAT THIS TAX RATE WILL RAISE LESS TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE. AND THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE LOWERED BY 8.69 PERCENT AND WE'LL REDUCE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR HOME BY APPROXIMATELY SEVENTY SIX DOLLARS. WE'LL BE SHARING WITH YOU THIS EVENING AN INNOVATIVE PILOT THAT WE'VE BEGUN THIS YEAR WITH CHILDREN'S HEALTH TO MEET THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS IN THE AREAS OF PHYSICAL HEALTH AND MENTAL HEALTH. AND AT THIS TIME I'D INVITE [INAUDIBLE] WHO'S OUR DIRECTOR OF DISTRICT HEALTH SERVICES ALONG WITH [INAUDIBLE] OUR DIRECTOR OF GUIDANCE AND FAMILY EDUCATION SERVICES TO THE PODIUM TO PRESENT SOME DETAILS OF THAT PILOT. GOOD EVENING. I'M HAPPY TO UPDATE YOU ON OUR NEW TELEHEALTH PROGRAM THAT THE DISTRICT IS PILOTING IN CONJUNCTION WITH CHILDREN'S HEALTH. ONE OF THE GOALS OF THE TELEMEDICINE THE HEALTH SIDE OF IT IS TO CAPTURE THESE STUDENTS WHO COME TO THE CLINIC WHO ARE ILL BUT MAY NOT NECESSARILY HAVE TO LEAVE FOR THE SCHOOL DAY TO GO TO A DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT WE CAN TAKE CARE OF IT DURING SCHOOL HOURS THEY CAN STAY IN CLASS AND RECEIVE THAT EXTRA INSTRUCTION. AND ALSO PARENTS WON'T NECESSARILY HAVE TO LEAVE WORK BUT ALSO WHAT WE WANT TO DO IS TRY TO CONNECT THESE FAMILIES PERHAPS WITH A PRIVATE WITH A PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN THAT THEY DON'T ALREADY HAVE IN PLACE OR JUST SUPPLEMENT ONE THAT THEY ALREADY DO HAVE. SO IT'S A CONVENIENT OPTION FOR EXPERT PEDIATRIC CARE. MOST SITUATIONS WILL ALLOW THE STUDENT TO REMAIN IN SCHOOL AND THE PARENT TO REMAIN AT WORK IF A PRESCRIPTION IS NEEDED AFTER THE VISIT THE PHYSICIAN OR THE NURSE PRACTITIONER AT CHILDREN'S CAN CALL THAT IN THE PARENTS RELAY WHAT PHARMACY THEY PREFER AND THAT CAN BE CALLED IN AND READY FOR THEM  TO GO AFTER THEY DO GET OFF OF WORK. IT DOESN'T NECESSARILY REPLACE THE PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER SO IF THE PARENTS DO OPT INTO THIS PROGRAM AND THE CHILD DOES HAVE A VISIT WHILE THEY'RE AT SCHOOL ALL OF THAT INFORMATION THAT IS GATHERED DURING  THAT VISIT WOULD BE SHARED WITH THEIR PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER SO THERE'S NO THERE'S NOT TAKING THAT PLACE OF THE PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER. AND THEN THE PLANO ISD EXCLUSION POLICY FOR ILLNESS STILL APPLIES. SO IF THAT STUDENT DID HAVE A FEVER OR IT'S THOUGHT THAT THEY MAY HAVE A COMMUNICABLE DISEASE WE WOULD STILL FOLLOW OUR POLICIES. THIS DOES NOT SUPERSEDE THAT IN ANY WAY. SO A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW IT WORKS. THE VERY FIRST STEP IS THAT THE PARENT HAS TO ENROLL IN THE PROGRAM. THIS CAN BE DONE ONLINE. IT CAN BE DONE IN PAPER. AND WE DID HAVE A FEW ENROLLMENT ACTIVITIES EARLIER IN THE SCHOOL YEAR. WE DID HAVE FAMILIES THAT SIGNED UP FOR IT.

ONCE THE SCHOOL NURSE SEES THAT KID DURING THE DAY AND REALLY THIS IS VERY COMMON PEDIATRIC AILMENTS THAT THE NURSE DOES SEE QUITE OFTEN IN THE CLINIC IF SHE DETERMINES THAT A PROVIDER VISIT IS NEEDED THEN SHE WILL SET UP THE APPOINTMENT. THE PARENT CAN BE CONTACTED. WE DO THIS TO GO AHEAD AND GIVE THEM A HEADS UP THAT A  VISIT IS WARRANTED. THEY CAN EITHER CHOOSE TO SAY YES GO AHEAD WITH THE VISIT OR THEY'RE NOT INTERESTED AT THIS TIME BUT IT WILL BE SOMEBODY WHO IS ALREADY PRE  ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM. CHILDREN'S TAKES CARE OF THAT SIDE OF THINGS AND THEY GIVE THE CAMPUS NURSE A LIST OF STUDENTS SO THE NURSE IS VERY AWARE OF WHAT STUDENTS ARE ABLE TO BE UTILIZING THIS PROGRAM. THE NURSE WILL DO HER USUAL THING DO A CLINIC

VISIT ON THE STUDENT DETERMINE WHAT THE SYMPTOMS ARE DETERMINE IF IT'S AN APPROPRIATE VISIT FOR THIS CASE. SHE SCHEDULES THE APPOINTMENT. IT'S DONE ONLINE. OUR NURSES ARE GRANTED ACCESS TO THIS CHILDREN'S HEALTH SIDE OF THINGS SO THAT SHE GOES ONLINE AND SHE DOES AN INTAKE FORM AND A LITTLE BACKGROUND ON WHY THE STUDENT IS THERE AND SHE CAN SET UP THE APPOINTMENT. THE SCHOOL NURSE AND THE  CHILDREN'S HEALTH PROVIDER CONDUCT THE EXAM. IF THE APPOINTMENT HAS TO BE SCHEDULED A LITTLE BIT FURTHER OUT THAT'S WHEN THE STUDENT IS ABLE TO GO BACK TO CLASS AND KEEP PARTICIPATING IN SCHOOL. IF IT'S A SICK VISIT WHERE MAYBE THEY NEED TO GO HOME IF THERE'S A FEVER OR ANYTHING SHE CAN KEEP THEM IN THE CLINIC. AND WE COULD ACTUALLY STILL DO A VISIT THAT WAY ALSO. BUT THE CART, THE TELEHEALTH CART THAT THEY USE IS ACTUALLY A VIDEO CART. IT'S VERY VERY NICE. SO THERE IS A PROVIDER ON THE OTHER END OF IT. THE NURSE HAS A CAMERA. IT HAS DIFFERENT ATTACHMENTS SHE CAN USE AN [INAUDIBLE] SCOPE TO ACTUALLY LOOK IN THE EAR AND THE PROVIDER SEES IT ON THE OTHER SIDE LIKE YOUR SKYPING IN WITH YOUR DOCTOR. SO IT'S PRETTY NICE. ONE OF THE ATTACHMENTS IS ALSO A STETHOSCOPE ATTACHMENT. SO SHE PUTS IT UP TO THE CHILD'S CHEST AND THAT PHYSICIAN CAN ACTUALLY HEAR HEARTBEAT. SHE CAN HEAR LUNG SOUNDS AND DO HER ASSESSMENT THAT WAY. PRESCRIPTIONS AGAIN CAN BE CALLED INTO THE PREFERRED PHARMACY AND THEN THE AFTER VISIT SUMMARY THE CAMPUS NURSE GETS A COPY OF THAT AS WELL AS THE PARENT. SO A FEW KEY POINTS BARRON ELEMENTARY AND ARMSTRONG MIDDLE SCHOOL ARE THE TWO CAMPUSES THAT ARE PILOTING THIS PROGRAM FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR. WHAT THEY THE HABITS AND THE CHARACTERISTICS THAT THEY'D LIKE TO SEE IN  THEIR STUDENTS ACROSS THE CAMPUS AND THEN THEY WORK WITH THAT TEAM TO BRING THAT  VISION TO LIFE. NOW IF YOU TALK TO A CAMPUS PRINCIPAL THEY'RE GOING TO SURFACE 50 THINGS THAT THEY WANT TO FIX BUT THE FOCUS OF THE WORK IN TIO AND ALSO THE FOCUS OF THE DISTRICT SUPPORT TEAM IS TO NARROW THOSE 50 THINGS DOWN TO THE TWO OR THREE THINGS THAT IF WE WORK ON THEM WE'D HAVE THE GREATEST IMPACT ON STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AND STUDENT LEARNING. SO I WANT TO GIVE YOU A COUPLE EXAMPLES. I TALKED ABOUT THE UNIVERSAL SUPPORT BUT THEN ALSO YOU KNOW AS WE'VE GONE AROUND AND VISITED WITH EACH CAMPUS DIFFERENT THINGS HAVE SURFACED AS A NEED AT DIFFERENT CAMPUSES SO I JUST WANT TO GIVE YOU FOUR EXAMPLES THAT SURFACED THIS YEAR IN THE SCHOOLS THAT I WORK WITH AND HOW THE DST KIND OF TOOK ACTION TO SUPPORT THE SCHOOL. SO THE FIRST IS AN EXAMPLE WE WERE AT A SCHOOL AND ONE OF THE NEEDS THAT SURFACED PRETTY QUICKLY AND REALLY WAS THE TOP NEED SURFACED BY THE SCHOOL WAS THE ACHIEVEMENT LEVEL OF THEIR ELL STUDENTS. AND SO THERE WAS A LOT OF CONVERSATION ABOUT THIS IS REALLY THEIR BIGGEST CONCERN. THEY ALSO FELT LIKE THERE WAS AN IMPACT CAMPUS WIDE SO OUT OF THAT MEETING, [INAUDIBLE] GOMEZ WHO IS A PART OF THAT DISTRICT SUPPORT TEAM MADE THE COMMITMENT THAT SHE WOULD COME BACK HER AND THE MULTILINGUAL TEAM AND PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THAT WOULD HAVE TARGETED STRATEGIES THAT TEACHERS COULD USE IN WORKING WITH KIDS THAT WOULD HELP THE TEACHERS BUT ALSO HELP THE STUDENTS. AND THEY ALSO MADE THE COMMITMENT THAT THEY WOULD BE COMING BACK VISITING CLASSROOMS WITH STUDENTS AND THEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A WAY THAT THE NEEDS OF THEIR ELL LEARNERS COULD FIND ITS WAY INTO EVERY TEAM'S PLC AGENDA. ANOTHER EXAMPLE AT A DIFFERENT SCHOOL. ONE OF THE NEEDS THAT SURFACED JUST YOU KIND OF HEARD IT REPEATED CONVERSATION WHICH WAS THE ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM REALLY HAD A STRONG DESIRE TO BE IN THE CLASSROOMS MORE TO BE  IN PLANNING MEETINGS MORE BUT THEY FELT LIKE THEY HAVE SOME HURDLES THAT ARE GETTING IN THEIR WAY TO SPEND AS MUCH TIME  AS THEY FEEL LIKE THEY NEED TO AND WANT TO. AND SO I REACHED OUT TO MARK ALLEN AND SHARON BRADLEY AND WE'RE ACTUALLY GOING OUT THERE TOMORROW TO WORK WITH THE CAMPUS ON SURFACING SOME MORE DATA TO KIND OF GET BEHIND LIKE WHAT. WHAT ARE SOME ACTIONS THAT WE CAN DO WHAT ARE SOME SYSTEMS WE CAN PUT IN PLACE TO SUPPORT THE ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM SO THEY CAN GO OUT AND SUPPORT THEIR TEACHERS. THIRD EXAMPLE ONE OF OUR FIRST DST MEETINGS AT A HIGH SCHOOL WE WORKED WITH THE NEED FOR ACCESS TO DATA, QUICK DATA SO THAT THEY COULD CHECK AND MONITOR THE PROGRESS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THAT SURFACED PRETTY QUICKLY AT THE SCHOOL AFTER THE MEETING [INAUDIBLE] STAYED BEHIND AND TALKED WITH THE ADMINISTRATIVE  TEAM ABOUT SOME OPPORTUNITIES AND SOME DIFFERENT WAYS THEY COULD COLLECT DATA AND HAS HAD A GOOD CONVERSATION WITH THEM. AND THEN THE LAST EXAMPLE WAS AT A DIFFERENT SCHOOL. THE CONCERN THAT SURFACED WAS IN A SPECIFIC SUBJECT AREA AND ALSO SPECIFICALLY IN THE GRADE LEVEL AND OUT OF THAT ASHLEY [INAUDIBLE] COMMITTED TO GOING BACK AND CONNECTING WITH HER TEAM ABOUT HOW THEY CAN COME BACK AND SUPPORT BOTH THE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION BUT ALSO THE TEACHER TEAMS AS WELL. SO THOSE ARE JUST FOUR REAL WORLD EXAMPLES OF WHAT THIS DST PROCESS LOOKS LIKE. THERE'S OBVIOUSLY A LOT MORE TO IT BUT THAT JUST GIVES YOU A LITTLE GLIMPSE OF WHAT WE MEAN BY DISTRICT SUPPORT TEAM. AND THAT'LL BE ONGOING. WE'LL BE CHECKING IN. WE WILL MEET AS DATA THERE'S RELEVANT DATA TO COME IN AND AND WORK WITH THE SCHOOLS BUT ALSO WE'LL BE DEPLOYING INDIVIDUALLY TO EACH CAMPUS AS THE WORK CALLS US THERE. SO I WANT TO FINISH WITH THIS QUOTE AS IT RELATES TO SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT. THE GOAL AT TIL IS TO FOCUS OUR EFFORTS AND PRACTICE IN THE AREAS THAT IF WE GET GOOD AND WE HAVE STRONG PRACTICES IN THESE AREAS WE'LL HAVE THE GREATEST IMPACT ON SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT, BUT ULTIMATELY ON STUDENT LEARNING FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF OUR STUDENTS IN PLANO ISD.
