FOR TODAY'S RECOGNITION, I'D LIKE TO TAKE A MOMENT TO ACKNOWLEDGE A MILESTONE THAT IS BEING RECOGNIZED BY SCHOOL DISTRICTS AROUND THE STATE TODAY.

WHILE WE ARE NO STRANGERS TO WEARING MAROON HERE IN PLANO ISD.

TODAY, IT'S BEING WORN IN RECOGNITION OF UVALDE CISD FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.

BECAUSE OF A SENSELESS ACT OF VIOLENCE 15 WEEKS AGO, TWO TEACHERS AND 19 STUDENTS WERE NOT AMONG THOSE WHO RETURNED TO SCHOOL TODAY.

OUR BOARD STAFF AND THE ENTIRE PLANO ISD LEARNING COMMUNITY GRIEVES WITH THESE FAMILIES DURING THIS TIME OF UNIMAGINABLE LOSS.

WE TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO STAND WITH UVALDE AND TO LIFT UP THE MEMORY OF THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES.

THEY WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.

THIS ACT DID NOT JUST AFFECT UVALDE, BUT IT ALSO LIVES IN OUR HEARTS.

OUR PLANO ISD BOARD AND LEADERSHIP STAND STRONG IN KEEPING THE SAFETY OF EVERY PERSON IN PLANO ISD OUR PRIORITY.

WE ARE GOING TO MOVE ON TO OUR PUBLIC COMMENT SESSION, BUT BEFORE I DO, I'D LIKE TO PROVIDE MY FELLOW TRUSTEES AN OPPORTUNITY IF YOU'D LIKE TO SAY ANYTHING REGARDING OUR RECOGNITION.

I KNOW WE DIDN'T PLAN ON THAT.

WE PLANNED ON JUST THE THE STATEMENT.

BUT I THINK TO THOSE OF YOU IN THE AUDIENCE AND THOSE OF YOU WATCHING, PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS TRAGEDY IN UVALDE AFFECTED US TREMENDOUSLY UP HERE ON THIS BOARD.

DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEM 8.2, WE WILL CONSIDER ALL MATTERS INCIDENT AND RELATED TO DECLARING EXPECTATION TO REIMBURSE EXPENDITURES WITH PROCEEDS OF FUTURE DEBT, INCLUDING THE ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION PERTAINING THERETO.

JOHNNY, I'M SURE YOU'RE GOING TO EXPLAIN WHAT THAT CONFUSING TITLE MEANS.

THANK YOU. THANK YOU, MR. STOLLE, BOARD MEMBERS, I'LL TRY TO BE BRIEF ON THIS ONE, ALTHOUGH I COULD TALK A LONG TIME ON IT.

I WOULD SIMPLY SAY THAT OBVIOUSLY WE HAVE GONE INTO A NEW PLATFORM FOR OUR ERP AND OUR SIS SYSTEMS, WHICH IS SIMPLY OUR STUDENT SYSTEMS AND OUR HR AND FINANCE SYSTEMS SOFTWARES.

ONE OF THE THINGS WE'D LIKE TO DO IS IF HOPEFULLY IF THE BOND PASSES IN NOVEMBER, WE WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THOSE MONIES AND REIMBURSE THE COST OF THESE SYSTEMS. IT'S NOW ALLOWABLE COST.

FOR THE FIRST YEAR, YEAR ONE ALONE IS ABOUT $2.8 MILLION.

AND IF YOU'LL REMEMBER, THE ADVANTAGES OF DOING IT THIS WAY IS WE SAVE APPROXIMATELY 37% DUE TO THE NONPAYMENT OF RECAPTURE ON THOSE FUNDS, WHICH IS A GREAT DEAL.

SO THAT'S WHAT WE WOULD RECOMMEND THIS EVENING IS WE HAVE TWO NOW THAT WE'VE STARTED THE PROCESS OF GOING ACTUALLY OVER TO THE NEW PLATFORM, THE NEW SOFTWARE, BEFORE WE EXPENSE THOSE, WE HAVE TO HAVE A REIMBURSEMENT RESOLUTION TO ALLOW US THE ABILITY LATER ON TO REIMBURSE.

SO NOW WE HAVE OUR VOTER APPROVED TEXT RATIFICATION ELECTION IS PROP A AND OUR BOND STARTS WITH PROP B AND GOES ON PROP B ALL THE WAY THROUGH PROP E.

SO IF YOU'LL REMEMBER, WE HAVE THE BIG GENERAL PROVISION WHICH WAS ANNOUNCED PROP B, THANK B FOR BOND.

AND THEN IT STARTS WITH PROP C, WHICH IS THE TECHNOLOGY, PERSONAL TECHNOLOGY, INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY.

THAT'S WHERE THIS WOULD RESIDE.

DOES THAT MAKE SENSE TO EVERYBODY? SO WHEN THE THE WHEN I THE QUESTION I HAD WHEN JOHNNY AND I SAT DOWN TO TALK ABOUT THE AGENDA WAS, WAS I REALLY COULDN'T CONNECT THE DOTS AS TO WHY WE WERE PASSING A RESOLUTION TODAY TO PAY FOR MONEY OUT OF A BOND THAT'S NOT YET APPROVED.

SO THAT'S THE TIMING OF WHAT WE OTHERWISE WOULD HAVE PAID FOR THIS OR WE HAVE PAID FOR THIS AND WE'RE USING IT AND REGARDLESS, IT'S PAID FOR.

DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEM 8.3 CONSIDERATION AND OR ACTION TO APPROVE AN AGREEMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF ATTENDANCE CREDIT OPTION THREE AGREEMENT AND TO DELEGATE CONTRACTUAL AUTHORITY TO THE SUPERINTENDENT.

THE JOHNNY HILL SHOW CONTINUES.

SO SIMPLY PUT, THIS IS HOW WE EQUALIZE OUR WEALTH, WHICH WE'RE REQUIRED BY LAW TO DO.

OPTION THREE IS THE MOST AFFORDABLE WAY FOR US TO DO THAT.

IT'S SIMPLY PUT, WE WRITE A CHECK BACK TO THE STATE IN ORDER TO EQUALIZE OUR WEALTH.

AND SO THIS YEAR, WE'RE ANTICIPATING HAVING TO PAY BACK THE STATE $247.9 MILLION.

IT'S $247.9 MILLION.

AND SO THE WAY WE DO THAT IS WE HAVE TO ACTUALLY ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE STATE IN ORDER TO DO THAT AND THAT WE'RE REQUIRED BY JANUARY 1ST TO DO THAT.

SO THIS IS THE PROCESS THAT WE DO EVERY YEAR IN ORDER TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN.

YOU SEE THERE WAS A WRITTEN CONTRACT, BUT A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO THEY'VE GONE WHERE IT'S ALL ELECTRONIC THROUGH THE FOUNDATION SCHOOL PROGRAM SYSTEM, THROUGH TO TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY.

IT'S A LOT EASIER TO DO.

THE BOARD JUST DELEGATES THE AUTHORITY TO THE SUPERINTENDENT.

SHE GOES IN AND ACTUALLY FILLS OUT A FORM ONLINE AND WE'RE GOOD TO GO FOR ANOTHER YEAR.

SO THAT'S WHAT WE'RE ASKING THE BOARD TO DO THIS EVENING.

ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT? SO WE'LL HAVE A MOTION AND THEN CONVERSATION.

I MOVE FOR THE 2022- 2023 SCHOOL YEAR.

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES DELEGATES CONTRACTUAL AUTHORITY TO OBLIGATE THE SCHOOL DISTRICT UNDER TEXAS EDUCATION CODE TEC 11.1511C4 TO THE SUPERINTENDENT SOLELY FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBLIGATING THE DISTRICT UNDER TEC 48.257 AND TEC CHAPTER 49 SUB CHAPTERS A AND D AND THE RULE ADOPTED BY THE COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION IS AUTHORIZED UNDER TEC 49.006.

THIS INCLUDES APPROVAL OF THE AGREEMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF ATTENDANCE CREDIT OR THE AGREEMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF ATTENDANCE CREDIT NETTING.

CHAPTER 48 FUNDING.

OK, I'M NOT GOING TO READ THE MOTION RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I WOULD LIKE TO OPEN IT UP FOR CONVERSATION FIRST, THEN I'LL READ THE MOTION AGAIN BUT RIGHT PRIOR TO VOTE, SO COMMENTS.

I THINK THAT THIS HAS TO DO WITH A WORD EVERYBODY KNOWS AS RECAPTURE, BUT THE LANGUAGE HAS BEEN CHANGED IN THE LAST LEGISLATIVE SESSION TO BE CALLED REVENUE IN EXCESS OF ENTITLEMENT.

AND SO I THINK IN 1993, WE STARTED THE RECAPTURE PROGRAM, WHICH IS NOW A DIFFERENT NAME TO TO PROVIDE EQUITY FOR THE DISTRICTS IN THE STATE.

AND I THINK NONE OF US ON THIS BOARD TABLE BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULDN'T BE EQUITY IN FUNDING.

ACTUALLY, WHAT WE BELIEVE IS THERE SHOULD BE ADEQUACY IN FUNDING.

AND IT'S GOTTEN TO A POINT WHEN WHEN YOU SAY $247.9 MILLION, WHICH IS A QUARTER OF $1,000,000,000 AND IS PROBABLY MORE THAN MOST CITY BUDGETS IN TEXAS, EXCEPT FOR THE VERY LARGE CITIES.

WE OUR POSITION IS NOT EQUITABLE ANYMORE.

SO EQUITY HAS FLIPPED ON US AND WE HAVE LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES FOR THIS UPCOMING 88TH SESSION.

AND I THINK BEYOND SOME OF THE OBVIOUS ONES, WHERE WE'RE GOING TO BE ASKING FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY FUNDING IN THE STATE, WE HAVE NUMEROUS AMOUNTS IN OUR PRIORITIES ABOUT RECAPTURE.

AND SO WE'RE ASKING THAT AT A MINIMUM, THEY PUT A CAP ON RECAPTURE SO THAT DISTRICTS ARE NOT FINDING THEMSELVES IN A BUDGET DEFICIT POSITION AS WE'RE FINDING OURSELVES WITH RECAPTURE.

AND THEN WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE MONEY THAT GOES INTO THIS EXCESS REVENUE OR REVENUE IN EXCESS OF ENTITLEMENT ACTUALLY GOES INTO THE BASIC ALLOTMENT.

AND WE HAVE NO TRANSPARENCY OF WHERE OUR DOLLARS ARE GOING.

AND WHEN WE WE PAY THESE OUT BASED ON THE ATTENDANCE CREDITS, WHICH WE ARE CONSIDERING APPROVING RIGHT NOW, WHICH IS THE WAY THAT PLANO ISD HAS ALWAYS REMITTED ITS RECAPTURE.

BUT WHAT ONE OF THE OTHER THINGS WE'RE ASKING FOR IS TRANSPARENCY, SO THAT OUR TAXPAYERS KNOW THIS AND HOW MUCH OF THEIR TAX BILL IS BEING RECAPTURED AND SENT BACK TO THE STATE.

AND ONE OF THE LAST THINGS THAT WE'VE ASKED FOR IS THAT OUR FUNDS COLLECTED IN RECAPTURE MUST BE USED TO FUND TRADITIONAL PUBLIC EDUCATION.

IT CAN'T GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

IT NEEDS TO STAY IN PUBLIC ED SO THAT'S THAT'S MY HARP FROM THE HILL, BUT I KNOW WE'RE JUST CREATING A METHOD OF HOW WE REMIT THE FUNDS, BUT I JUST WANT OUR AUDIENCE AND OUR PUBLIC TO UNDERSTAND THE DILEMMA THAT PLANO ISD IS WITH REGARD TO A QUARTER OF $1,000,000,000 NEXT YEAR, PAYMENT OF RECAPTURE.

OTHER COMMENTS. I MEAN, I'D LIKE TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF WE DIDN'T SEND THAT MONEY.

HOW MANY YEARS HAS PLANO ISD BEEN PLAYING AND PAYING INTO RECAPTURE, SINCE DAY ONE? 1994. YEAH.

NOW, MY FIRST YEAR ON THE BOARD IN 2011 OR 12 I GUESS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO VOTE ON THIS.

OUR RECAPTURE PAYMENT WAS $24 MILLION, SO WE ARE TEN TIMES THAT AMOUNT NOW IN AN 11 YEAR TIME SPAN.

THE SECOND QUESTION I ALWAYS GET THIS TIME OF YEAR IS WHY ARE YOU APPROVING? WHY ARE YOU PAYING SO MUCH IN RECAPTURE WHEN YOU'RE RUNNING A BUDGET DEFICIT? THE REASON WE ARE RUNNING A BUDGET DEFICIT IS BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF MONEY WE HAVE TO PAY AND RECAPTURE.

TO PUT IT SIMPLY, IF THE STATE COMES THROUGH THROUGH TAX COMPRESSION LAWS, THEY CAN LOWER IT WITHOUT IT PENALIZING US.

IF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT CHOOSES TO LOWER THEIR M&O TAX RATE, THEN THEY'RE PENALIZED AND YOU'D HAVE TO GO BACK AND LOOK AT HOW THE M&O TAX RATE IS MADE UP.

IT'S ACTUALLY MADE UP OF THREE DIFFERENT LEVELS.

AND SO BECAUSE WE HAVE ENRICHMENT PENNIES FOR US TO ACTUALLY CUT $0.01 OUT OF OUR IF THE DISTRICT CHOOSES ON THEIR OWN TO CUT THE M&O TAX RATE ABOUT EVERY ONE PENNY THEY CUT, WE GET PENALIZED ABOUT $3 MILLION.

AND SO OBVIOUSLY, THAT WOULD JUST MAKE THE DEFICIT EVEN LARGER.

SO BOTTOM LINE IS, IF THE STATE CUTS THE TAX RATE THROUGH TAX COMPRESSION, NO PENALTY.

IF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT CUTS THE M&O TAX RATE ON THEIR OWN ACCORD, THERE'S A PENALTY.

RIGHT. SO WE WOULD IF WE CUT OUR OWN TAX RATE, WE WOULD BE KEEPING FEWER DOLLARS IN OUR SCHOOLS.

IT'S ABOUT $3 MILLION PER PENNY.

YEAH. SO I KNOW THIS BOARD IN PREVIOUS BOARDS HAS OR HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME AND ENERGY TRYING TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AND WORK WITH OUR STATE LEGISLATORS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND NOT THROWING SHADE AT ALL OF THE HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS OF WORK OF THAT.

BUT WE HAVEN'T SEEN MUCH MOVEMENT ON THIS.

AND I'M FAILING TO SEE WHAT WE REALLY HAVE TO LOSE IN TERMS OF THE FISCAL CLIFF THAT WE'RE COMING UP TO.

DO WE WANT TO GO OFF THE CLIFF OR DO WE WANT THEM TO PUSH US? AND I THINK UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS IN OUR COMMUNITY, WHETHER IT'S TEA COMING IN AND DECIDING WHAT PROPERTY THEY'RE GOING TO ANNEX AND WAKING THE COMMUNITY UP TO HOW BROKEN AND CORRUPT THE SYSTEM IS, I DON'T THINK ANYBODY'S LISTENING.

I DON'T THINK THEY'RE PUTTING ENOUGH PRESSURE ON THEIR STATE LEGISLATORS AND TAKING IT SERIOUS ENOUGH.

AND I THINK A DIFFERENT TACTIC NEEDS TO BE TAKEN BECAUSE WHAT WE'VE DONE SINCE 1994 HAS NOT RESULTED IN RELIEF FOR THIS DISTRICT.

WELL, YOU KNOW, YOU AND I HAPPEN TO RUN INTO A STATE LEGISLATOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, AND WE STARTED TO HAVE A CONVERSATION IN THE EVENT WE WERE BEGAN.

SO WE ENDED OUR CONVERSATION.

BUT WHEN I MENTIONED THE AMOUNT, I THINK WE HAD JUST WRITTEN THE RECAPTURE CHECK THAT WEEK AND I SAID, YOU WON'T BELIEVE THE AMOUNT THAT WE'RE NOW PAYING IN RECAPTURE. AND THE LEGISLATOR TOLD ME WE FIXED THAT AND I SAID, WE NEED TO HAVE A CONVERSATION BECAUSE YOU DID NOT FIX IT. IT'S BACK.

AND A LOT OF IT HAS TO DO WITH THE HIGH GROWTH AND PROPERTY VALUES.

A LOT OF IT HAS TO DO WITH THE ARBITRARY 2.5% RATE OF GROWTH THAT THEY LET PROPERTIES GROW.

AND I'M GETTING INTO THE WEEDS, BUT THE POINT IS WE HAVE GOT TO LET EVERYBODY KNOW AND WE SHOUT THIS FROM THE ROOFTOPS EVERY MEETING.

BUT OUR TAXPAYERS NEED TO GET A LITTLE BIT VOCAL TO THEIR LEGISLATORS SO THEY WILL REPRESENT THE CONSTITUENCY WHOM WE ARE.

I THINK WE JUST NEED TO TELL AUSTIN, COME AND TAKE IT.

TO DAVID'S POINT, TO PRESIDENT'S STOLLE'S POINT A WHILE AGO, THEY WILL TAKE IT AND THEY'LL ACTUALLY DE-ANNEX.

BUT THE PROBLEM WITH THAT IS WHEN THEY DE-ANNEX, IT'S NOT THAT WE'RE GOING TO DE-ANNEX IT FOR THIS ONE YEAR.

IT'S PERMANENT. SO ONCE THEY TAKE IT AWAY, THEY DON'T GIVE IT BACK.

AND THE PROBLEM WITH THAT IS IT SHRINKS YOUR TAX BASE SO YOU DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO PAY YOUR INS, YOU DON'T HAVE AS MUCH CAPACITY TO PAY YOUR INS.

SO THEY'VE GOT YOU I MEAN, REALLY, THEY'VE GOT YOU ON THAT REGARD ANYWAY.

I THINK THAT WOULD MAKE A LOT OF PEOPLE WANT TO TALK TO THEIR STATE LEGISLATORS TO FIX THAT.

I AGREE. AND I WON'T PLAY CHICKEN WITH THEM IN THE ROAD BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO VIOLATE STATUTE, WHICH THIS IS ALL BOUND BY.

AND WHEN WE HAVE TO SHUT DOWN A NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOL.

THAT NEIGHBORHOOD WILL NOTICE, AND THAT IS ULTIMATELY WHERE WE ARE HEADED IF NOTHING CHANGES.

AND, YOU KNOW, AGAIN, I DON'T NECESSARILY THINK THAT IT'S I DON'T WANT TO GIVE THE STATE THE RIGHT TO CHERRY PICK OUR OUR BEST PROPERTY AND TAKE IT OFF OUR TAX ROLLS.

BUT SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE FOR SURE.

SO IN OTHER COMMENTS, JUST THE QUESTION THAT WHAT IS IT THAT THE RECOMMENDATION, RECOMMENDATION FOR SOLUTION, I MEAN, WE'VE ASKED FOR OUR LEGISLATORS TO GO AND FIX IT.

MAYBE THAT'S THE MESSAGE THAT WE NEED TO CARRY IS TO PAY FOR THE COST OF EDUCATION THAT IT THAT IT COSTS BECAUSE WE'RE IN THE LOW FORTIES OF OF STATES WHO FUND EDUCATION AND YET OVER 80%, 88% OF THE STUDENTS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS GRADUATE HIGH SCHOOL.

SO THAT'S A PRETTY GOOD ROI.

IF THEY WOULD RAISE THE BASIC ALLOTMENT, THEY WOULD PROBABLY GET MUCH BETTER OUTCOMES.

SO LOTS OF GREAT THINGS TO KEEP STUDENTS INVOLVED AND ENGAGED AND EXCITED ABOUT COMING TO SCHOOL EACH DAY.

SO WE'LL BE TAKING A LOOK AT EVERYTHING INVOLVED FROM THE FINANCES TO THE BUILDINGS TO THE LEARNING SPACES TO THE COURSE OFFERINGS, ALL OF THOSE PIECES THAT MAKE A COMPLETE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

THEN WE HAD A FUN PROGRAM, AS WE ALWAYS HAVE AS OUR SUMMER SCHOOL BRIDGE PROGRAM, COMPUTER SCIENCE.

WE HAD ABOUT 100 KIDS IN THERE.

AND LASTLY, OUR GOOD OLD HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, 329 STUDENTS, TOOK 525 COURSES, 176 STUDENTS WERE IN OUR SAT, PSAT, ACT COURSES, AND ABOUT 3000 STUDENTS TOOK COURSES ON E SCHOOL.

LASTLY, I MENTIONED THE 4545 HOUSE BILL REQUIREMENTS THAT STUDENTS NEED TO HAVE 30 HOURS OF SOME KIND OF REMEDIAL INSTRUCTION.

AND SO THESE ARE THE HOURS.

BUT REALLY, THE STORY FOR THIS, I THINK, STARTED A FEW YEARS AGO, BACK WHEN WE HAD TO GO VIRTUAL BECAUSE OF COVID SITUATIONS.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE REALLY TRY TO DO IS WORK COLLABORATIVELY, WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE SUPPORTING OUR TEACHERS IN THE RIGHT WAY AND THEN MAKING OURSELVES ACCOUNTABLE AND ACCESSIBLE TO THE TEACHERS.

IT WASN'T JUST A ONE AND DONE TYPE OF SITUATION.

WE KNEW WE WERE GOING TO HAVE TO PROVIDE CONTINUOUS SUPPORT FOR OUR TEACHERS.

AND IN LOOKING BACK AT WHAT HAPPENED THIS PAST SUMMER, I THINK THAT THEME KIND OF STUCK AROUND A LITTLE BIT AND NOT JUST THE WAY WE DELIVERED THE TRAINING, BUT HOW WE SUPPORTED OUR TEACHERS WITH THAT AS WELL.

SO TONIGHT'S REPORT IS GOING TO INCLUDE THE LEARNING THAT OCCURRED MAY 28TH THROUGH AUGUST 9TH, ALMOST 39000 HOURS OF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING. ALL RIGHT.

SO RIGHT NOW WE ARE ENTERING YEAR TWO OF THE FIRST COHORT AND WE'VE ALSO STARTED OUR SECOND COHORT OF TEACHER LEADER ACADEMY.

SO PART OF THE PIPELINE WORK AGAIN IS REALLY ALLOWING FOLKS TO CHOOSE THEIR OWN PATHWAY, WHATEVER THAT MIGHT BE.

SO FOR SOME MIGHT BE, LET ME THINK ABOUT POSSIBLE ADMINISTRATION POSITIONS IN THE FUTURE, BUT FOR OTHERS WE JUST WANT TO GET GOOD AT WHAT WE LOVE.

AND THIS IS ONE OF THOSE AREAS WHERE WE TEACHERS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PROGRAM, MAYBE THEY JUST WANT TO STAY IN THE CLASSROOM, BUT THEY WANT TO FIND WAYS TO GROW AS TEACHERS, FIND WAYS TO SUPPORT PRINCIPALS OR OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE TEAMS AT THE CAMPUSES OR ACROSS THE DISTRICT OR THEY MIGHT CHOOSE.

THEY DO WANT TO DO THE APA PROGRAM, I'M SORRY, APA PROGRAM DOWN THE ROAD OR SEEK OTHER OPPORTUNITIES.

BUT THIS IS JUST A HOW DO WE CAPTURE TEACHERS AND HOW DO WE PROVIDE THE A SIMILAR TYPE OF TRAINING THAT OUR PRINCIPALS ARE GOING THROUGH, BUT AT THE TEACHER LEVEL, SO THAT THEY CAN THEN SUPPORT THEIR PRINCIPALS IN THAT.

SO THIS IS THE TEACHER LEADER PROGRAM.

SOME OF THEIR KIDS MIGHT BE AT HOME OR THEY JUST NEED SOME QUIET SPACE WHERE THEY CAN HELP EACH OTHER OR FOCUS.

AND THEN COVID HAPPENED, RIGHT? BUT WE THOUGHT, NO, WE'RE NOT GOING TO LET THIS GO.

LET'S GO VIRTUAL AND ALLOW TEACHERS TO KIND OF JUST KIND OF POP IN AND OUT AS THEY NEEDED BASED ON ON THEIR WHAT THEY WERE INTERESTED IN.

WE DID OFFER THE LEARN AT HOME OPTION OR LEARN IN PERSON DEPENDING ON ON THE TYPE OF LEARNING THAT WAS REQUIRED.

SO ONE EXAMPLE OF THAT IS LEARNING FORWARD DID A COUPLE OF DAYS ON COLLABORATIVE STRATEGIES IN THE CLASSROOM.

YOU CAN'T DO THAT VIRTUALLY NECESSARILY, RIGHT? SURE, WE WANT COLLABORATION VIRTUALLY, BUT SOMETHING LIKE THAT IS TRULY INTENDED FOR THE IN-PERSON CLASSROOM.

SO THAT'S ONE OF THE SESSIONS THAT WAS THAT WAS OFFERED IN PERSON.

BUT YOU CAN LOOK AT THE NUMBERS, 79% ATTEND IT ONLINE, 20% ATTEND IT IN PERSON.

SO AGAIN, THIS IS ONE OF THOSE WHERE THEY FELT IT'S BETTER IN PERSON, BUT BECAUSE OF WHATEVER SITUATIONS IN THE PAST, THEY'VE ONLY BEEN OFFERING IT VIRTUALLY. SO THIS YEAR THE BEHAVIOR ACADEMY WENT IN PERSON.

AND THE COOL THING ABOUT THIS IS THEY LEARN TOGETHER, BUT THEN IT'S REALLY BROKEN UP INTO SPECIALIZED LEARNING AND THAT TEAM SHOWED A LOT OF PICTURES.

THIS WAS A REALLY COOL ONE JUST BECAUSE, I DON'T KNOW, I LIKE THE ANGLE.

BUT IN LOOKING AT THE DIFFERENT PICTURES THAT THEY SHARED, YOU CAN JUST SEE PEOPLE REALLY ENGAGE IN DIFFERENT TYPES OF LEARNING, NOT JUST SIT AND GET.

THAT WAS SOMETHING THAT THAT THAT TEAM WORKED WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND US AND JUST FINDING THE RIGHT DATES AND THE RIGHT TIME TO GET THAT MANY TEACHERS TRAINED.

ONE OF THE BIG THINGS THAT JEFF FELT WAS NECESSARY WAS SAFETY AND SECURITY.

AND THEY SPENT THEY WORKED WITH MANDY ON THAT IN MAKING SURE THAT OUR COACHES WERE READY TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR STUDENTS WERE SAFE DURING THE COMING SCHOOL YEAR.

SO ETSI IS ONE OF THE FIRST STEPS ALONG WITH SEL.

THEY CAN GO INTO THE DOT WEBSITE, LOOK AT SOME OF THEIR DIFFERENT OFFERINGS AND KIND OF GET IDEAS FROM THERE.

SO I THINK THAT'S A REALLY COOL THING THAT THEY'RE DOING.

WE KNOW THAT NEW TEACHERS WILL ALSO HAVE THE SUPPORT OF DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, OF GREAT LEVEL CHAIRS, OF THEIR ADMINISTRATOR TRAINING THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR.

WE KNOW THAT INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT IS COMING.

OUR ACADEMIC SERVICES TEAM ARE GETTING READY FOR THEIR DAYS, CAMPUSES, CAMPUS ADMINISTRATORS ARE FINALIZING THEIR PD PLANS AND THEY'RE MEETING TIMES WITH THEIR CAMPUSES. BUT WE BROUGHT BACK PRINCIPALS ON THIS DAY ON THIS TIME FOR THREE AND A HALF DAYS OF LEARNING.

SO I'M SURE YOU GUYS SAW IT ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND STUFF, OUR PRINCIPALS LOVED IT, COULD NOT GET ENOUGH OF IT.

SOMETHING REALLY NEAT ABOUT THIS, ABOUT THE PRINCIPAL KICKOFF THIS YEAR.

THIS YEAR WE DECIDED TO SEPARATE OUR PRINCIPALS FROM ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS AND OTHER DEPARTMENTS, AND WE GOT THEM TOGETHER AT HAGGARD FARMS BARN, RIGHT BARN.

AND WE JUST SPENT THE DAY WITH THEM.

AND THE REALLY COOL THING ABOUT THAT IS IT WASN'T JUST DISTRICT PEOPLE TALKING TO THEM.

GEORGE KING KIND OF LED A LOT OF THAT LEARNING FROM PLANO EAST, AND IT WAS JUST A KIND OF LET'S RE-CENTER OUR VISION AT THE CAMPUS AND WHAT WE BELIEVE IN.

AND THE PRINCIPALS LOVED IT.
