HOWEVER, WE ARE VERY PLEASED TO HAVE OUR JROTC INSTRUCTORS AND STAFF HERE WITH US TONIGHT, AND SO THANK YOU ALL FOR STICKING AROUND AND WE APOLOGIZE FOR BEING A LITTLE BIT LATE TONIGHT.

PLANO ISD HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS ARE TO FIRST PLACE AWARDS AND A THIRD PLACE AWARD AT THE DIGITAL DIVAS COMPUTER PROGRAMING COMPETITION.

STUDENTS GARNERED SEVERAL SPEECH AND DEBATE CHAMPIONSHIPS, INCLUDING THE 48TH ANNUAL HARVARD NATIONAL TOURNAMENT WHO THE WINNERS WERE FROM JASPER HIGH SCHOOL.

[LAUGHTER] THE WINNERS, AGAIN OF THE 48TH ANNUAL HARVARD NATIONAL TOURNAMENT, WERE FROM JASPER AND PLANO EAST SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL.

TEXAS FORENSIC ASSOCIATION WINNERS WERE FROM JASPER AND MCMILLAN HIGH SCHOOLS AND TWO PLANO EAST SENIORS [INAUDIBLE].

AND JOSEPH CARLOS [INAUDIBLE], AND I APOLOGIZE TO YOUR PARENTS IF YOU WERE WATCHING AND I MISPRONOUNCED THOSE NAMES.

THEY BECAME UIL DEBATE WINNERS, DEBATE DISTRICT CHAMPIONS AND WILL COMPETE FOR THE STATE TITLE IN AUSTIN IN MARCH.

AND SO IF WE GET TO ANNOUNCE THEM AS STATE CHAMPIONS, I WILL HAVE MEMORIZED THEIR LAST NAMES BY THEN AND FROM SOMEBODY WHOSE LAST NAME WAS MISPRONOUNCED HIS ENTIRE LIFE.

IT MEANS A LOT TO ME TO MAKE SURE THAT THAT HAPPENS, SO I WILL DO SO.

THE FOLLOWING AWARDS WERE GIVEN IN VISUAL ARTS IN THE SCHOLASTIC ART AWARDS 22 PLANO ISD HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ARE IN GOLD KEYS AND WILL MOVE ON TO THE NATIONAL LEVEL.

THREE STUDENTS HAD ARTWORK SELECTED FOR YOUTH ART MONTH, A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED PROGRAM AND THIRTY ONE ARTWORKS BY PLANO ISD STUDENTS WILL ADVANCE TO THE STATE VISUAL ARTS SCHOLASTIC EVENT.

SO CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE OUTSTANDING STUDENTS FOR A JOB WELL DONE.

AND NOW I'D LIKE TO TURN TO DR.

SHE IS OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR ADVANCED ACADEMICS AND COLLEGE CAREER MILITARY READINESS, WHO WILL SPEAK TO THE HONORS SIGNIFICANCE.

PRESIDENT STOLLE, SUPERINTENDENT BONSER AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND CABINET MEMBERS, WE ARE GLAD TO BE HERE WITHIN ARMY JROTC.

THERE ARE THREE LEVELS OF DISTINCTION HONOR UNIT WITH DISTINCTION, HONOR UNIT AND MERIT UNIT. ALL THREE PLANO ISD SCHOOLS HAVE MAINTAINED HONOR UNIT WITH DISTINCTION FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS.

AS HONOR UNIT WITH DISTINCTION UNITS, THE INSTRUCTORS OF EACH SCHOOL ARE ALLOWED TO NOMINATE UP TO THREE CADETS PER YEAR TO ANY OF THE SERVICE ACADEMIES.

THERE ARE TWO PRIMARY SOURCES THAT ARE CONSIDERED FOR HONOR UNIT WITH DISTINCTION.

SCHOOLS MUST ACHIEVE NINETY SIX PERCENT ON THE JROTC PROGRAM ACCREDITATION.

THIS IS A VERY THOROUGH INSPECTION CONDUCTED EVERY THIRD YEAR BY OUR [INAUDIBLE] FROM FORT SAM HOUSTON IN SAN ANTONIO.

THE INSPECTION IS A DAY LONG AFFAIR, WITH TWO FORMAL BRIEFINGS 100 PERCENT UNIFORM AND KNOWLEDGE INSPECTION, DRILL AND COLOR GUARD EVALUATION AND A CADET PORTFOLIO EVALUATION, AS WELL AS A CADRE PORTFOLIO EVALUATION.

ADDITIONALLY, THE SCHOOL MUST MAINTAIN NINETY SIX PERCENT ON THEIR ANNUAL JOINT UNIT MANAGEMENT REPORT, WHICH OUTLINES OUR ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR.

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE COMPETITIVE EVENTS SUCH AS SKILLS MEETS, SERVICE, LEARNING ASSISTANCE TO COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL FORMAL EVENTS SUCH AS OUR MILITARY BALL CADET LEADERSHIP CAMP PARTICIPATION CADET CHALLENGE, WHICH IS A PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST.

EACH EVENT HAS A REQUIRED NUMBER OF ITERATIONS.

ALL ARMY JROTC UNITS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPETE ANNUALLY IN THIS NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ACADEMIC COMPETITION.

BY PARTICIPATING CADETS, LEARN THE VALUES OF CITIZENSHIP, LEADERSHIP, ACADEMIC COMPETITION AND COLLEGE OPPORTUNITIES.

THERE ARE THREE LEVELS OF COMPETITION, CULMINATING IN A CHAMPIONSHIP HELD DURING THE SUMMER IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

THIS YEAR, ALL THREE SCHOOLS ADVANCED AT LEAST ONE TEAM TO LEVEL TWO.

AND HERE ARE THE RESULTS.

PLANO EAST HAD TWO TEAMS FOR TWO TEAMS FOR ACADEMIC AND ONE FOR LEADERSHIP THAT MADE IT TO LEVEL TWO. PLANO WEST HAD ONE LEADERSHIP TEAM ADVANCED TO LEVEL TWO, AND PLANO SENIOR HAD ONE ACADEMIC TEAM ADVANCED TO LEVEL TWO.

PLANO WEST LEADERSHIP TEAM IS IN THE TOP THREE PERCENT OF ARMY JROTC UNITS NATIONWIDE AND WILL ADVANCE TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP, WHICH IS JUNE 24TH THROUGH 28TH IN WASHINGTON, D.C. AT THIS TIME, I'D LIKE TO INVITE OUR HONOREES TO COME TO THE FRONT FOR RECOGNITION AND A PHOTOGRAPH AS I INTRODUCE YOU.

BUT WE'RE GOING TO START WITH JERI BECAUSE I KNOW JERI WANTS TO SAY SOMETHING.

I WANTED TO SURPRISE YOU, DAVID.

WELL, FIRST OF ALL, I NEED TO HAVE PERSONAL MOMENT WITH COLONEL RODAN.

I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU MAY BE RETIRING SOMETIME SOON.

IS THAT THE CASE? AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WITH THE DISTRICT, SIR? SO I AM GRATEFUL TO HIM PERSONALLY BECAUSE HE HELPS MY SON WITH HIS PHYSICAL ASSESSMENT TO BE ABLE TO MOVE IN ADVANCE TO THE UNITED STATES MILITARY AT THIS POINT.

AND SO I WENT THROUGH THIS HONOR UNIT WITH DISTINCTION, AND I ACTUALLY THINK FOR THE DISTRICT, IT'S PROBABLY LONGER THAN 20 YEARS BECAUSE IF YOU CONSIDER ONLY SENIOR HIGH AND EAST. IT'S YEAH, BECAUSE WE WERE WE HAD THE GOLD STAR BACK IN 2002.

AND SO I.

YOU KNOW WHAT WHAT YOUR PROGRAM DOES IN HELPING KIDS JUST ATTAIN LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE AND THE DIFFERENCE THAT IT HAS MADE FOR MY HUSBAND AND HIS MILITARY SERVICE HAS BEEN AMAZING.

I MEAN, WHEN WHEN MY HUSBAND LOOKS BACK AT OUR TIME IN HIGH SCHOOL AND LOOKS BACK AT THE LESSONS HE LEARNED IN JROTC AND SOME OF THE THINGS COLONEL COUGHLIN SAID AT THE TIME, OR SERGEANT MAJOR FRANKLIN SAID AT THE TIME, HE STILL COMES UP WITH THOSE THINGS, RIGHT? SO MY HUSBAND IS GOING TO MAKE LIEUTENANT COLONEL THIS YEAR, AND HE'S STILL TALKING ABOUT WHAT SERGEANT MAJOR FRANKLIN AND COLONEL COUGHLIN TAUGHT HIM IN HIGH SCHOOL RIGHT AFTER, YOU KNOW, MULTIPLE DEPLOYMENTS AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

SO THOSE LESSONS THAT HE LEARNED AS A TEENAGER HAVE BEEN VERY IMPORTANT TO HIM.

AND SO THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU ALL ARE DOING.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COMMUNITY AND TO OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT.

YOU KNOW, I BRING UP THE 20 YEARS BECAUSE, LIKE YOU SAID, 40 YEARS.

I WANT TO GIVE YOU FULL CREDIT BECAUSE WEST OPENED WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL SO THAT'S ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO. BUT I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR WHAT YOU'RE DOING, AND I VALUE THIS PROGRAM FOR OUR DISTRICT MORE THAN, YOU KNOW.

THANK YOU. I'LL JUST SAY THAT I HAD THE HONOR TO BE A PART OF THE CEREMONY AND THE INSPECTION A FEW YEARS BACK AT PLANO WEST, AND I WAS JUST AMAZED AT WHAT THE STUDENTS DO, AT THE RESPONSIBILITIES THAT THEY HAVE, THE LEADERSHIP SKILLS THEY DEVELOP.

AND THESE ARE TOUGH TIMES RIGHT NOW.

SO I THANK YOU FOR TEACHING OUR KIDS.

THANK YOU. SO I DID DITTO TO WHAT EVERYBODY ELSE HAS SAID, THANK YOU, BUT ALSO, YOU KNOW, HOW CAN WE HONOR YOU AS A BOARD? AND, YOU KNOW, I WAS KIND OF STRUCK AT WHEN I COMPARE MY GRADUATION EXPERIENCES OVER THE PAST THREE GRADUATIONS I'VE BEEN AT AS A TRUSTEE.

AND WHAT I REALIZED IS NOT EVERY GRADUATION HAS A COLOR GUARD AND NOT EVERY GRADUATION DOES A NATIONAL ANTHEM.

AND I'VE BEEN IN TALK WITH TALKS WITH THE DISTRICT IN TERMS OF HOW WE CAN MAKE THOSE ADJUSTMENTS IN THE POLICY SO THE HONOR GUARD THAT DOES SO MUCH AND YOU KNOW, AND THE COLORS THAT DESERVE TO FLY AT AN AMERICAN GRADUATION DO FLY AND YOU KNOW, AND THE FLAGS ARE THERE NO MATTER WHAT, BUT THE COLOR GUARD, I THINK THAT MATTERS.

WE HAVE STUDENTS THAT DECIDE TO ENLIST AND I THINK THEY NEED TO BE HONORED AND WE DO HONOR THEM. BUT THERE ARE CERTAIN THINGS THAT EVERY GRADUATION SHOULD HAVE.

SO I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT WE ARE DISCUSSING THOSE THINGS AND WE HOPE TO HAVE THOSE SOLIDIFIED SO WE CAN PROPERLY HONOR THE COLOR GUARD AND OUR ROTC PROGRAMS AT EVERY GRADUATION. SO THANK YOU ALL AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR STAYING, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE WITH US, I THINK IN A GROUP OF SEVEN PARENTS, AND THAT'S WHAT WE ARE UP HERE.

YOU'VE HAD A DIRECT IMPACT ON AT LEAST TWO OF OUR FAMILIES HERE WITH A SON AND WITH A PERSONAL IMPACT AND PART OF WHAT THE WHAT YOU GAVE TO US IS OR UNLEASHED UPON US, MAYBE IS [INAUDIBLE]. SO THANK YOU FOR THAT.

BUT ONCE AGAIN, I DO WANT TO THANK YOU ALL.

SO I'LL JUST SAY A FEW WORDS ON BEHALF OF ADMINISTRATION IS, YOU KNOW, WE'RE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR A PLACE FOR KIDS TO FIND A SENSE OF BELONGING IN OUR SCHOOLS AND TO NOT ONLY MOLD THEM INTO ACADEMIC SCHOLARS, BUT INTO LEADERS AND GOOD CITIZENS THAT WILL CARRY OUT, YOU KNOW, THE WORK OF THE WORLD THAT'S AHEAD OF THEM AND DO IT IN THE RIGHT WAYS.

AND ROTC DOES THAT.

THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE PREPARING THEM FOR.

AND SO I CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR FINDING WAYS TO TO HELP KIDS FIND A PLACE TO BELONG.

AND THAT SENSE OF FAMILY AND CAMARADERIE AND SELF-DISCIPLINE AND CARE AND COMPASSION FOR ONE ANOTHER AS HUMAN BEINGS IS JUST A HALLMARK OF ROTC.

AND I'VE BEEN IN A DISTRICT WHERE THEY DID NOT HAVE AN ROTC PROGRAM AND THEY WERE STRUGGLING TO GET ONE.

AND SO FOR US TO HAVE THREE EXEMPLARY PROGRAMS, AND FOR ANYONE WHO'S NOT BEEN A PART OF AN INSPECTION PROCESS THAT LEADS TO THE HONOR DISTINCTION, LET'S NOT FORGET, LIKE ONE YEAR IS TOUGH TO GET.

AND ALL OF THE WORK INVOLVED ON EVERY SINGLE PARTICIPANT IN THE PROGRAM.

THERE IS NO ROTC STUDENT LEFT BEHIND IN AN INSPECTION.

WE HAD 70, SORRY NOT 70, SEVEN COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND THEN 12 STAFF THAT SAID WE KNEW WE NEEDED TO BRING OUR PARENT MAJORITY RULE INTO COMPLIANCE.

BROCKMAN, THEY WENT TO THE PTA COUNCIL MEMBERS AND ASKED IF WE COULD FIND SOME INTERESTED PARENTS TO JOIN THAT COMMITTEE RIGHT AWAY.

THOSE ARE THE FOUR MEMBER NAMES THAT WERE GIVEN TO YOU.

WE ARE PROPOSING THAT WE ADD THOSE.

THEN WE WOULD HAVE 12 PARENT REPRESENTATIVES.

TEACHERS AT AN ELEMENTARY CAMPUS, WE CAN USE ONE RATHER THAN THREE.

OK. GOOD EVENING, THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO ALLOW ME TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE ON OUR PRE-K PROGRAM AND THE EXPANSION AND THE GROWTH OF THAT PROGRAM.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I WAS LAST HERE TO GIVE YOU AN UPDATE.

AND SO TONIGHT I'M GOING TO SHARE WITH YOU A BRIEF OVERVIEW AND HISTORY OF OUR PROGRAM.

SO I WANT TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE BIT OF INFORMATION ABOUT OUR PRE-K PROGRAM.

PRE-K IS A STATE FUNDED PROGRAM WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO SERVE OUR AT-RISK STUDENTS.

THERE ARE SEVEN ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS THAT AS LONG AS THE STUDENT MEETS AT LEAST ONE OF THOSE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS, THEY WOULD BE ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND PRE-K FOR FREE.

AND THE MOST COMMON TWO ONES THAT WE HAVE ARE LOW INCOME, WHICH JUST MEANS THIS FAMILY WOULD QUALIFY FOR FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH, OR IF A LANGUAGE ASSESSMENT SHOWS THAT THEY DO NOT SPEAK OR COMPREHEND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

AND THERE'S OTHER ONES THAT ARE SMALLER, LIKE IF FAMILY IS CONSIDERED MCKINNEY VENTO, WHICH MEANS HOMELESS, BASICALLY.

AND IF THEIR CHILD OF AN ACTIVE MILITARY MEMBER, OR IF THEY WOULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE STAR OF TEXAS AWARD, WHICH MEANS A FIRST RESPONDER WHO HAS BEEN SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED WHILE SERVING.

SO THOSE ARE THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS.

AS LONG AS THEY MEET ONE, THEN THE CHILD WOULD ATTEND PRE-K FOR FREE.

WE ALSO HAVE A TUITION PROGRAM AVAILABLE FOR OUR NON QUALIFYING FAMILIES THAT PEOPLE CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF AT CAMPUSES THAT HAVE AVAILABILITY, WE HAVE THREE EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOLS WHO HAVE PRE-K AND ALSO SOME OF OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS, AND WE HAVE ONE HEADSTART CAMPUS.

AND WE ALSO HAVE 15 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS THAT HAVE PRE-K CLASSROOMS. OUR GOAL OF PRE-K IS TO TEACH STUDENTS EARLY LITERACY AND EARLY MATH SKILLS, AS WELL AS SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING IN A DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE, PLAY BASED ENVIRONMENT.

THE CAMPUSES THAT HAVE PRE-K ARE BEATEY EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL, ISAACS EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL, PEARSON EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL, HEAD START, AND THEN HERE ARE THE ELEMENTARY CAMPUSES THAT HAVE PRE-K.

SO JUST AS A QUESTION, WHEN WE LOOK AT THESE CHARTS THAT WE GET IN PERCENT OF CAPACITY, DOES THAT INCLUDE PRE-K? SO THOSE STUDENTS ARE INCLUDED IN THAT IN THAT PERCENT OF CAPACITY WHEN WE GET THAT FOR THESE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS? OK, WE'LL PUT A PIN IN THAT.

IF THERE'S PRE-K ON THOSE CAMPUSES AND THEY'RE INCLUDED IN THE ENROLLMENT NUMBERS, AND WE DO USE THE CAPACITY NUMBERS TO HELP US DETERMINE WHERE WE COULD POSSIBLY ADD PRE-K TO.

SO THIS WILL GIVE YOU A BRIEF HISTORY OF OUR PROGRAM.

A LOT HAS HAPPENED, BUT I PULLED OUT SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENTS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. IN 2018 AND 2019 WE HAVE WE HAD HALF DAY PRE-K CLASSES AT OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOLS, SO ONE TEACHER WOULD TEACH AN A.M.

SESSION AND THEN THOSE KIDS WOULD GO HOME AND THEN THE P.M.

SESSION WOULD COME AND OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS HAVE FULL DAY CLASSES.

AND HOUSE BILL THREE SAID THAT WE NEEDED TO BE OFFERED FULL DAY PROGRAM FOR EVERYONE IN THE STATE OF TEXAS. ALL PRE-K WOULD BE FULL DAY.

SO WE BEGAN PLANNING FOR THAT.

AND WE HAVE THREE YEARS TO IMPLEMENT IT.

WE COULD GO UP TO SIX IF NEEDED, BUT WE WERE ABLE TO IMPLEMENT IT IN 2021 AND WE BECAME FULL DAY FOR ALL THE START OF 2020.

AT THIS TIME, WE HAD PRE-K TO 12 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS ALONG WITH OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOLS. AND THIS YEAR WE EXPANDED IT TO 15 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.

SO THIS SHOWS THE GROWTH OF OUR PRE-K PROGRAM AND THE NUMBER OF CLASSROOMS THAT WE'VE ADDED.

SINCE 2018 2019 WE'VE ADDED 19 PRE-K CLASSES TO ACCOMMODATE BECOMING A FULL DAY PROGRAM AND OUR GROWING ENROLLMENT.

SO WHEN WE STARTED THIS AND WE STARTED LOOKING AT THIS, DOING A PRE-K, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS WE TALKED ABOUT WAS THAT FOR THOSE PARENTS IN OUR DISTRICT WHO WANT A PRE-K PROGRAM, WE WANT IT TO BE A BETTER PRE-K PROGRAM THAN WHAT THEY CAN FIND ELSEWHERE.

AND YOU KNOW, I WOULD LIKE TO THINK THAT THE GROWTH IS PART OF THE SUCCESS OF OUR PROGRAM, AND I'M HAPPY TO SEE THIS AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I ENVISIONED, AND I WON'T SPEAK FOR NANCY OR ANYBODY ELSE WHO'S ON THE BOARD AT THE TIME.

BUT THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I ENVISIONED WITH PRE-K THAT WE START UTILIZING THE SPACE THAT WE HAVE AROUND OUR DISTRICT TO FILL THE NEED FOR PRE-K PROGRAMS. THAT IS BETTER THAN WHAT THEY CAN GET.

THESE PARENTS WHO NEEDED PRE-K PROGRAM THAT THEY CAN GET ELSEWHERE.

WE'LL JUST CONTINUE TO SEE THIS THING GROW.

WHAT PERCENTAGE OF THE SIXTY SEVEN CLASSROOMS OR KIDS INVOLVED ARE TUITION BASED? LIKE, ARE WE SEEING AN INCREASE IN TUITION BASE TO GO TO DAVID'S POINT? PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO PAY BECAUSE IT'S GOT A GOOD REPUTATION.

SO THE HISTORY OF OUR TUITION PROGRAM WHEN WE WERE, WE HAD IT THE LAST YEAR WE HAD IT BEFORE THIS YEAR WAS WHEN WE WERE HALF DAY IN 2018 2019 OR ACTUALLY SORRY, 2019 2020, WHEN WE BEGAN PLANNING FOR FULL DAY, WE PUT A PAUSE ON IT BECAUSE WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAD ENOUGH CLASSROOMS TO ACCOMMODATE THE INCREASE FOR FULL DAY BECAUSE PEOPLE, MOST PEOPLE WOULD WANT FULL DAY OVER HALF DAY.

SO WE DIDN'T HAVE TUITION LAST YEAR, BUT WE HAVE STARTED IT BACK THIS YEAR.

IT'S NOT A LARGE PERCENTAGE.

AN ESTIMATE WOULD PROBABLY BE FIVE TO SEVEN PERCENT OF OUR PROGRAM BECAUSE WE OPEN ENROLLMENT THE START OF APRIL EVERY YEAR AND WE WAIT TO START ACCEPTING TUITION SPOTS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE SPACE FOR THEM.

SO WE MAKE SURE THAT EVERY QUALIFYING STUDENT HAS A SPOT FIRST AND THEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER IS WHEN WE START CONTACTING THE PARENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN OUR TUITION PROGRAM. AND SO THEY BASICALLY GET THIS, THEY GET OFFERED THE SPACES THAT WE HAVE LEFT.

AND SO IT'S A SMALLER PERCENTAGE OF TUITION FAMILIES.

ACTUALLY, I THINK THAT'S GOOD BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, YOU DO HAVE SOME SPED STUDENTS IN PRE-K AND TO HAVE TYPICAL STUDENTS WHO ARE PAYING TUITION IS GOOD EXAMPLE FOR THEM.

YES. TO FOLLOW UP ON THAT.

I WAS GOING TO ASK WHAT THE INTERACTION IS BETWEEN PAID PRE-K OR KIDS WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR PRE-K BASED ON THE REQUIREMENTS YOU LISTED VERSUS THE KIDS WHO ARE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD INTERVENTION AND ARE GETTING PRE-K BECAUSE OF THEIR ON AN IEP.

THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION, AND WE HAVE A LOT OF DIFFERENT PROGRAMMING OPTIONS.

SO TAKE OUR ELEMENTARY CLASSES.

WE DON'T HAVE OUR STUDENTS WHO QUALIFY FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION, ATTEND OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOLS BECAUSE EVERY TEACHER AT OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL IS TRIPLE CERTIFIED.

THEY ARE THEY HAVE THEIR GENERAL EDUCATION CERTIFICATION.

THEY HAVE THEIR SPECIAL EDUCATION CERTIFICATION.

AND THEY ALSO HAVE THEIR ESL CERTIFICATION.

BECAUSE SPECIAL EDUCATION AND PRE-K IS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT FROM SPECIAL EDUCATION IN K THROUGH 12 IS CONSIDERED ECSE, WHICH STANDS FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION.

AND THE WAY IT WORKS IS THEY DON'T GET PULLED OUT OF THEIR CLASSROOM AT ANY TIME, AND A SEPARATE SPECIAL ED TEACHER WOULD NOT COME IN FOR SERVICES.

THEIR TEACHER IS THEIR EVERYTHING SO THEY HAVE THEIR GENERAL, THEIR ONE TEACHER IS THEIR GENERAL EDUCATION TEACHER AND THEIR SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER.

SO THAT IS WHY OUR SPECIAL EDUCATION CLASSES ARE AT OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOLS.

WITH THAT SAID, WE HAVE A MULTITUDE OF TYPES OF CLASSES.

OUR REGULAR PRE-K CLASSROOMS AT OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOLS ARE INTEGRATED, WHICH MEANS THAT SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS AND GENERAL EDUCATION STUDENTS TOGETHER AND TUITION STUDENTS CAN GO IN THERE AS WELL, TUITION STUDENTS GO INTO THE SAME PRE-K CLASSES AS EVERYONE ELSE. WE DON'T HAVE ANY SEPARATE TUITION PROGRAMS. SO REALLY, WHEN IT COMES TO TUITION, WE WORK WITH THE FAMILIES ABOUT WHAT CAMPUS WOULD WORK FOR THEM, WE KIND OF LEAVE IT AS AN OPTION.

THESE PROGRAMS ARE JUST VERY, VERY IMPORTANT, NOT ONLY THE SERVICE THAT YOU DO, BUT THE PEER GROUP AND HAVING, YOU KNOW, DIFFERENT PEER GROUPS FOR THE KIDS IN SPECIAL EDUCATION MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE TO EVERYONE, RIGHT? BECAUSE THE HEARING PEERS GET TO LEARN A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE DEAF KIDS AND AND THE DEAF KIDS GET, YOU KNOW, CHILDREN WHO ARE WHO ARE LARGELY NOT LANGUAGE DELAYED LIKE MY SON WAS. YEAH. SO, YEAH, YEAH.

THIS YEAR WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RESUME OUR ENROLLMENT GROWTH AND WE ARE WORKING HARD TO ENCOURAGE MORE FAMILIES TO ENROLL IN PRE-K.

AND I'LL TALK ABOUT THAT IN A LITTLE BIT WITH OUR OUTREACH INFORMATION THAT I'LL SHARE.

WE STILL HAD HALF DAY CLASSES AT OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOLS.

NOW THEY CAN ACCESS IT ANY TIME FROM ANYWHERE.

THIS YEAR, OUR HEAD START AND K THROUGH 12 ENROLLMENT WILL BEGIN MARCH 21ST AND PRE-K ENROLLMENT BEGINS ON APRIL 4TH FOR PRE-K.

WE ALWAYS WAIT UNTIL THE FIRST WEEK OF APRIL BECAUSE THAT'S WHEN THE NEW INCOME GUIDELINES ARE SHARED WITH US.

SO WE DO HAVE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES.

WE INVITE THEM IN SO WE INVOLVE THEM AS MUCH AS WE CAN WITH EVENTS AND SHARING INFORMATION AND AND ASKING FOR THEIR INPUT WHENEVER WE HAVE COMMITTEES AND SUCH BECAUSE IN SOME BACK THEN.

SO PARENTS FIGHT TO BE THE CLASSROOM.

AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, THEY CAN BE ON THEIR ELEMENTARY PTA AND OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOLS ALSO HAVE A PTA.

THE CHALLENGE OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOL CAMPUS IS FACED WITH THEIR PTA IS THEY'RE NOT THERE FOR LONG. AND SO OUR PRINCIPALS, THEY THEY DO FACE SOME CHALLENGES WITH KEEPING MEMBERS. IF YOUR CHILD IS ONLY THERE FOR ONE YEAR AND THEN ALSO SOME OF THEM HAVE OLDER SIBLINGS THAT ARE AT AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

AND SO THEY'RE MORE INVOLVED IN THAT PTA.

BUT WE DO HAVE PTAS AND WE DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO GET MEMBERS AND TO INVOLVE THEM.

BUT WE ALSO DO OTHER THINGS OUTSIDE OF PTA.

WE DO RECOGNIZE THAT IT'S A LOT OF THEIR FIRST CHILD IN SCHOOL, AND SO WE DO HELP THEM.

WE EXPLAIN PROCESSES IN A LITTLE BIT MORE DETAIL TO THEM.

WE GIVE THEM A LITTLE BIT MORE INFORMATION, A LITTLE BIT MORE COMMUNICATION.

WE HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT WE DON'T ASSUME THAT THEY KNOW WHAT A PARENT WHO'S BEEN IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM FOR A WHILE KNOWS.

SO WE JUST MAKE SURE THAT THEY KNOW ALL THE LITTLE DETAILS THAT THEY NEED TO KNOW.

WE ALSO HAVE AN ASSESSMENT IN PRE-K.

WE USE THE CIRCLE PROGRESS MONITORING IS THROUGH OUR CLI PROGRAM OUT OF UT HEALTH AND AUSTIN. WE ASSESS OUR STUDENTS THREE TIMES A YEAR BEGINNING, MIDDLE AND END, AND THE FOCUS IS ON THEIR GROWTH.

WE LOOK AT WE HAVE MULTIPLE AREAS THAT WE COVER AND THE TEACHERS LOOK AT EACH TIME THEY'VE TAKEN THE TEST, THEY LOOK AT HOW MUCH THEY'VE GROWN.

THESE ARE THE SKILLS THAT WE ASSESS THREE TIMES A YEAR, AND WE USE THE RESULTS TO INFORM OUR INSTRUCTION WITH OUR YOUNGEST LEARNERS.

SO WE DO SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION WITH THEM BASED ON THEIR STRENGTHS AND THEIR IN THEIR NEEDS. SO REALLY, I JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW THAT EVEN IN PRE-K, WE'RE TRACKING THEIR GROWTH. AND IF WE'RE SEEING THAT THEY'RE NOT GROWING AS MUCH AS THEY SHOULD BE, WE DO SOMETHING TO INTERVENE AND ADJUST TO GIVE THEM EVERYTHING THEY NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

AND SO THEY ARE KIND OF WORKED BACKWARD AND SAID IF A STUDENT IN PRE-K SCORES THIS ON PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS AND MATH, THEN THEY WOULD BE ON TRACK TO MEET PROGRESS IN KINDERGARTEN AND THEN ALSO THE THIRD GRADE STAAR TEST.

SO THEY THEY DO AN AMAZING JOB AND INCLUDING OUR PRE-K DATA IN THE LONG TERM PLAN OF HELPING STUDENTS BE SUCCESSFUL.

SO WHAT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE, NOT NECESSARILY IN A PRESENTATION LIKE THIS, BUT LOOK AT THE DATA OF THOSE KIDS WHO ARE IN PRE-K, THEIR GROWTH YEAR OVER YEAR, INCLUDING FROM PRE-K TO TO KINDERGARTEN AND ON UP THROUGH YOUR FIRST LEVEL OF STATE LEVEL TESTING AND SEE WHAT THE SEE WHAT THOSE NUMBERS YIELD.

BECAUSE I THINK WE ALL BELIEVE IF YOU GET YOUR KIDS INTO PRE-K, YOU GET THEM STARTED EARLIER IN THE LEARNING PROCESS.

IT HAS AN EXPONENTIAL IMPACT ON THEIR GROWTH.

RIGHT. AND SO TO THE EXTENT OUR BELIEF IS SUPPORTED BY DATA, I'D LOVE TO GET THAT DATA OUT. TO OUR SCIENCE MINDED PARENTS TO MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION, AND I THINK AGAIN, IT GETS BACK TO THE IDEA OF BEING ABLE TO PROVE UP THAT WE THINK OUR PROGRAM IS BETTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE THAT YOUR PRE-K CHILD COULD ATTEND.

YES, AND RIGHT NOW WE DO TRACK IT TO KINDERGARTEN.

WE TAKE OUR KINDERGARTEN READINESS TEST AND WE LOOK AT HOW MANY OF THEM INCLUDED PRE-K, AND WE ANALYZE IT A LITTLE BIT.

BUT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE EVEN FARTHER UP HOW FAR THE RESULTS GO.

YEAH. ONE OBSERVATION ON THIS THIS MORNING I WAS IN A PTA COUNCIL MEETING AND THERE WERE PRINCIPALS IN THE MEETING AS WELL.

AND IT WAS IT WAS QUITE TELLING BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE SEEING AT THE ELEMENTARY AND THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL THAT THEY NEED A LITTLE BIT MORE WORK ON THE SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL PIECE.

AND I SEE IT HERE IN THESE NUMBERS, AND IT'S IT'S PROBABLY ACROSS THE BOARD THAT OUR STUDENTS BEING ISOLATED IN THE PRIOR YEAR HAVE HAD AN IMPACT ON THEM.

AND SO I THINK THAT AS WE LOOK FORWARD TO LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES COMING UP, I THINK THERE NEEDS TO BE FUNDING FOR THIS PIECE TO HELP SHORE UP THAT SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING AND EXPERIENCE.

BUT I SEE IT RIGHT HERE IN THE EARLY CHILDHOOD.

YES. SO IT IS A NEED THAT WE DISCUSSED AND ARE AWARE OF AND WE HAVE WE HAVE AN SEL CURRICULUM THAT WE USE, BUT IT IS A NEED TO CONTINUE TO HELP STUDENTS WITH THOSE SKILLS AND. WE ALSO HAVE A COACHING AND SUPPORT PLAN FOR ALL OF OUR TEACHERS, WE HAVE INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALISTS.

WE HAVE EACH OF OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD SCHOOLS, HAS AN INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST AT THE CAMPUS AND THEN WE HAVE A DISTRICT INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST AND THEY HAVE A COACHING PLAN THAT THEY USE TO SUPPORT THEIR TEACHERS.

WE GO INTO THE CLASSROOM MONTHLY AND WE TALK WITH THEM AND WE DISCUSS HOW THINGS COULD BE IMPROVED. WHAT'S GOING WELL, WHAT DO THEY NEED FROM US? WE MAKE SURE THAT THEY HAVE EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIFIC PROFESSIONAL LEARNING, AND WE ALWAYS ARE FOCUSING ON GROWTH OF OUR PROGRAM AND MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE A HIGH RELIABILITY PROGRAM. MANY OF OUR CHEER SQUADS WERE ABLE TO COMPETE THIS YEAR, AND THEY DID VERY WELL.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CHEER SIGN UPS ARE HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.

JUST TO NOTE THOSE ARE THOSE ARE NOT TRYOUTS AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL.

THOSE ARE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS THAT SIGN UP TO PARTICIPATE.

CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS FOR 9TH THROUGH 12TH GRADE ARE THE WEEK AFTER SPRING BREAK, SO IT'S

GETTING CLOSE AND WE WILL RETURN TO LIVE TRYOUTS AFTER TWO YEARS OF VIRTUAL TRYOUTS IN BOTH CHEER AND DRILL DUE TO COVID.

MANY OF OUR DRILL TEAMS HAVE ALSO FOUND THEMSELVES BACK ON THE COMPETITION FLOOR AND COLLECTED MANY AWARDS THIS SEASON.

THE PLANOETTES COMPLETED 15 ROUTINES AND FIVE SOLOS AND WALKED AWAY WITH A GRAND CHAMPION TEAM. THE CLARK COUGARETTES WERE AWARDED GRAND CHAMPION JV TEAM WITH INDIVIDUAL OFFICER AWARDS. THE ROYALS OF PLANO WEST WERE THE HIGHEST SCORING HIGH SCHOOL DRILL TEAM AT THEIR CONTEST, AND MANY AWARD WINNING SOLOS, DUETS AND ENSEMBLE PIECES WERE PERFORMED.

AND THEN OUR PLANO EAST GOLDEN GIRLS WON FIRST PLACE IN THEIR IN ALL OF THEIR OFFICER TEAM, AN ELITE TEAM ROUTINES.

SO THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF SUCCESS THIS YEAR IN THAT PROGRAM, AND DRILL TEAM TRYOUTS ARE GOING TO BE CONCLUDED THIS WEEK.

JUST RECENTLY, AT THE BEGINNING OF FEBRUARY, WE HAD 47 STUDENTS FROM PLANO ISD THAT WERE INVITED TO PERFORM WITH THE ALL STATE ENSEMBLES AT THE TEXAS MUSIC EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION CONVENTION AND CLINIC.

THOSE STUDENTS WERE IN BAND, CHOIR AND ORCHESTRA AND SPENT SOME LOVELY TIMES DOWN AT TMEA AND DR. ANDERSON AND DR.

WILLIAMS AND SUPERINTENDENT BONSER WERE ABLE TO JOIN US DOWN THERE AND SAW WHAT A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE THAT IS FOR KIDS.

SO. WE ALSO HAD TWO GROUPS THAT WERE INVITED GROUPS TO PERFORM AT THE STATE MUSIC CONVENTION AND THOSE WERE THE PLANO EAST SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL MIXED CHOIR AND THE RENNER MIDDLE SCHOOL TREBLE CHOIR.

AND I WILL TELL YOU THAT BOTH WERE REMARKABLE PERFORMANCES AND BROUGHT TEARS TO A LOT OF PEOPLE'S EYES, FRANKLY.

AND I THINK THAT OUR UPPER ADMINISTRATION ACTUALLY GOT A SPECIAL SERENADE FROM THE RENNER LADIES LIKE OUT IN FRONT OF MCDONALD'S OR SOMETHING.

THAT WASN'T THAT RIGHT? YEAH.

ANOTHER THING THAT I WOULD SHARE WITH YOU THAT WAS REALLY SPECIAL ABOUT THE PERFORMANCES DOWN THERE WAS THAT THE THE PLANO EAST CHOIR WAS ACCOMPANIED BY SOME OF OUR TEACHERS AND WE HAD A COUPLE OTTO MIDDLE SCHOOL ORCHESTRA DIRECTORS THAT PLAYED ONE OF THE PLANO EAST ORCHESTRA DIRECTORS PLAYED ONE OF THE PLANO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL ORCHESTRA DIRECTORS PLAYED JOHN BRENNAN, WHO'S THE BAND DIRECTOR AT PLANO EAST, PLAYED AS WELL.

AND IT WAS A HUGELY BEAUTIFUL, COLLABORATIVE EFFORT.

SO I'M SORRY IF YOU MISSED THAT PERFORMANCE, BUT THERE ARE SOME PERFORMANCES COMING UP THAT YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK OUT.

AND IT'S SO RARE WHEN YOU GO.

IF TEACHERS GO TO PROFESSIONAL LEARNING THAT THEY'RE THERE AND THEY'RE GOING TO SESSIONS AND ALL THAT, BUT THE KIDS ARE THERE AND SO YOU WALK AROUND AND IF YOU GO THROUGH THE EXHIBIT HALL OR WHATEVER, LIKE THE KIDS ARE INTERACTING WITH THE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SELLING INSTRUMENTS AND THEIR TEACHERS ARE STANDING RIGHT THERE AND THEY'RE INTERACTING

AND IT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN LIKE THAT IN OTHER PLACES.

IT WAS A REALLY TOUCHING MOMENT BECAUSE THE CONDUCTORS GET INTRODUCED BY SOMEBODY AND THE AM I RIGHT ABOUT? YES.

I MEAN, IT WOULD BRING TEARS TO YOUR EYES TO SEE HOW MANY OF THOSE MOMENTS HAPPEN FOR KIDS AND TEACHERS AND EVEN GROWN-UP KIDS.

ABSOLUTELY. YEAH, ABSOLUTELY.

SO QUICK QUESTION IS THE PRE TMEA CONCERT? IS IT ALREADY OVER? YES. YEAH, IT WAS BEFORE THE CONVENTION ABOUT A WEEK BEFOREHAND.

YEAH, BUT WE HAVE SOME UIL PERFORMANCES THAT ARE HAPPENING TOMORROW AND THE NEXT DAY AND THEN A BUNCH AFTER THAT, WHICH I'LL GIVE YOU THOSE DATES AS WELL.

A LITTLE OVER A WEEK AGO, THE PLANO WEST SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ BAND WAS INVITED FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR TO PERFORM AT THE ESSENTIALLY ELLINGTON COMPETITION, WHICH IS AT JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER IN NEW YORK CITY.

AND THEY'RE GOING TO PERFORM IN MAY.

AND I WILL TELL YOU ALL THAT THIS THIS FESTIVAL IS LIKE FOLKS THAT ARE IN THE BAND WORLD AND THE JAZZ WORLD IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

THEY LOOK AT THIS AS KIND OF THE SUPER BOWL OF HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ.

AND SO THIS IS AN ENORMOUS HONOR TO BE ABLE TO DO IT FOUR TIMES IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.

WYNTON MARSALIS IS THE FAMOUS JAZZ TRUMPET PLAYER THAT CONCEIVED THIS FESTIVAL, AND IT IS PROBABLY THE BEST EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER SEEN FOR KIDS THAT I'VE BEEN ABLE TO WITNESS IN FINE ARTS.

IT'S SET UP NOT NECESSARILY AS A COMPETITION, BUT A CELEBRATION OF MUSIC AND LEARNING, AND THE STUDENTS GO TO CLASSES WITH THE JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER.

THE PLAYERS THAT ARE THAT ARE PLAYING THE JAZZ ORCHESTRA THERE AND THEY HAVE MENTORS THAT THEY WORK WITH AND REHEARSE THE BAND AND WYNTON MARSALIS DOES A Q AND A I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT IT, BUT IT'S AN INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY AND SO HAPPY THAT PRESTON PIERCE OVER THERE AND THOSE KIDS AT PLANO WEST GET TO EXPERIENCE JERI WASN'T YOUR DAUGHTER IN A BAND THAT WENT THERE? NO.

SO THE OTHER BIG THING, AND I HEARD PRESIDENT STOLLE RECOGNIZE OUR STUDENTS EARLIER FOR THIS, BUT WE HAD RECENTLY PARTICIPATED IN THE SOUTHWEST REGIONAL DIVISION FOR THE SCHOLASTIC ARTS AWARDS AND THOSE IF YOU'RE FAMILIAR WITH SCHOLASTIC ARTS AND WRITING, THEY STARTED IN THE EARLY NINETEEN HUNDREDS.

IT'S A VERY PRESTIGIOUS AWARD CEREMONY AND WE HAVE TWENTY TWO GOLD KEYS AND A GOLD KEY MEANS THAT YOUR WORK AUTOMATICALLY ADVANCES TO NEW YORK CITY FOR THE NATIONAL JURY.

AND IF YOU WIN IN NEW YORK CITY, YOU GET A VERY LARGE MEDAL AT CARNEGIE HALL.

AND THAT IS A LIVE EVENT.

IT'S WHERE THE KIDS GET TO GO, DO ALL KINDS OF WORKSHOPS.

THEY GET TO EXPERIENCE POSSIBILITIES FOR SCHOLARSHIPS.

THEY DO DESIGN CHALLENGES, ALL KINDS OF THINGS LIKE THAT.

AND THEN THEIR WORK IS JURY TO GET A STATE AWARD.

OUR BOYS TEAM REALLY SHOWED GREAT PROMISE AND WE WERE THE 6-6A CHAMPS IN THE BOYS DIVISION. THEY WERE ALSO THE REGIONAL CHAMPS, AND THEN THEY FINISHED SEVENTH OVERALL IN THE STATE. AND THEN WE ALSO HAD A SILVER MEDALIST, HUDSON HEKKINEN WHO HAD QUALIFIED THE YEAR BEFORE IN STATE AND GOT A CHANCE TO COME BACK THIS YEAR.

AND HE ENDED UP GETTING THE SILVER MEDAL AND HAD A GREAT GREAT FINISH TO HIS SENIOR YEAR.

PLANO EAST WERE AREA CHAMPS AND THEY ENDED UP LOSING TO DENTON BRASWELL ABOUT A WEEK AGO, WHO IS PLAYING IN THE STATE TOURNAMENT COMING UP THIS WEEKEND.

WE PLAYED AT LOWE'S FIELDHOUSE DOWN IN DALLAS LAST WEEK AND IT WAS THE BIGGEST CROWD I'VE SEEN IN THERE IN A LONG TIME.

WE GOT TO ALSO CELEBRATE SOME DISTRICT WRESTLERS LAST YEAR, SOME STATE CHAMPION STATE CHAMPION LAST YEAR'S RECALL.

WE HAVE MANY OF THOSE KIDS BACK THIS YEAR AND REALLY ALL THREE PROGRAMS QUALIFIED KIDS FOR REGIONALS. PLANO SENIOR HAD ONE STATE QUALIFIER YOUNG LADY THAT WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR. THAT DID VERY WELL DOWN THERE IN HER FIRST YEAR WRESTLING, PLANO EAST HAD A REALLY A BREAKOUT YEAR OF ALL THREE SENIOR HIGHS IN THE BOYS TEAM, WERE THE DISTRICT RUNNER UP, WE HAD 15 REGIONAL QUALIFIERS, THREE STATE QUALIFIERS AND [INAUDIBLE].

WE FINISHED FIFTH AT THE STATE MEET JUST LAST, I GUESS TWO WEEKENDS AGO.

AND SO AND THEN PLANO WEST, WE DID CROWN STATE CHAMPION.

FARIED MOBARAK WON HIS WEIGHT CLASS AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT, WHICH WHICH IS A HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT TO BE, YOU KNOW, A STATE CHAMP IN ALL OF TEXAS IN 6A.

AND THEN BROOKE ZEJDA WAS A SILVER MEDALIST AND JUST CAME UP A LITTLE BIT SHORT IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH. BUT AGAIN, PLANO WEST HAD ANOTHER GREAT YEAR, BUT WE QUALIFIED MORE WRESTLERS THIS YEAR THAN WE HAVE, AND YOU LOOK AT OUR PARTICIPATION NUMBERS EARLIER.

WRESTLING IS ONE OF THOSE SPORTS THAT'S REALLY GROWING IN TEXAS, AND OUR NUMBERS ARE GOING UP. THE GIRLS OUR GIRLS PROGRAM IS GROWING.

OUR BOYS PROGRAM IS GROWING AND COACHES ARE DOING A GREAT JOB.

AND SO WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THE GROWTH IN WRESTLING.

SWIM AND DIVE. ALL THREE SENIOR HIGHS AGAIN, OUTSTANDING JOB THIS YEAR.

PLANO SENIOR HAD SIX REGIONAL QUALIFIERS, ONE STATE QUALIFIER EMMA HRASKO.

SHE DIDN'T.

LAST YEAR DURING COVID, THEY ONLY TOOK SO MANY BECAUSE OF RESTRICTIONS THEY ONLY LET SO MANY ADVANCE. SO, SO EXCITING THIS YEAR FOR SOME OF THE KIDS THAT DIDN'T GET TO GET OUT LAST YEAR. GET GET TO THE STATE MEET.

PLANO EAST HAD 11 REGIONAL QUALIFIERS TWO STATE QUALIFIERS.

GIO LINSCHEER WON THE SILVER MEDAL IN THE 500 FREE, SO HE'S JUST AN OUTSTANDING SENIOR, OUTSTANDING YOUNG MAN AND REALLY DID A GREAT JOB FOR PLANO EAST AND FINISHED STRONG. AND THEN PLANO WEST HAD A STATE CHAMPION RELAY TEAM, THE 200 MEDLEY WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND WON BY A COUPLE OF SECONDS.

IT WASN'T EVEN CLOSE.

SO YOU'LL GET A CHANCE TO MEET THOSE THAT TEAM HERE PRETTY SOON.

SEEING OUR KIDS COMPETE AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL AND JUST SOME UPDATES TO AS FAR AS WHAT'S COMING WITH WINTER AND SPRING.
