RIGHT NOW, WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT OUR RECOGNITIONS, PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE DISPLAY OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS ON THE MONITORS COMING UP.

THESE STUDENTS COMPETED OVER THE SUMMER AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL.

AWARDS INCLUDE A NATIONAL CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION CHAMPIONSHIP FROM PLANO EAST AND NATIONAL CHAMPIONS IN SPEECH AND DEBATE FROM JASPER AND PLANO WEST SENIOR HIGH.

ADDITIONALLY, JASPER HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVED A NATIONAL SCHOOL OF OUTSTANDING DISTINCTION FOR SPEECH AND DEBATE, AND PLANO WEST SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVED A NATIONAL EXCELLENCE IN SPEECH AWARD FOR THEIR NATIONALLY RANKED SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAMS. WE ALSO HAD A FINALIST AT THE NATIONAL SCRIPPS SPELLING BEE AND A FINALIST IN THE INVEST WRITE ELEMENTARY NATIONAL COMPETITION.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THESE STUDENTS FOR THEIR COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE.

I THINK WE COULD ALL GIVE THIS GROUP OF STUDENTS A ROUND OF APPLAUSE.

[APPLAUSE] SO THIS EVENING, WE ARE ALSO PRIVILEGED TO HONOR SOME IMPORTANT DISTRICT PARTNERS WHO HAVE BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL BOARDS FOR STANDING UP FOR TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

THESE PARTNERSHIPS ASSIST OUR DISTRICT IN PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES AND FUNDING FOR OUR STAFF AND STUDENTS.

SUPERINTENDENT BONSER WILL INTRODUCE THIS RECOGNITION.

OK, I'M FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS I DON'T USUALLY SPEAK FROM DOWN HERE, BUT THIS IS WHAT THEY HAVE TOLD ME TO DO, SO I'M COMING DOWN TO SPEAK FROM THE FLOOR BECAUSE WE'RE GOING TO PRESENT SOME CERTIFICATES IN JUST A MOMENT.

SO PLANO ISD HAS BENEFITED TREMENDOUSLY FROM THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF BUSINESSES AND ORGANIZATIONS WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY, WHETHER THEY ARE UNDERWRITING SPECIAL PROGRAMS, VOLUNTEERING ON A CAMPUS OR HELPING TO CHAMPION IMPORTANT INITIATIVES THAT POSITIVELY IMPACT OUR STUDENTS.

LOCAL BUSINESSES AND COMMUNITY GROUPS ARE VITALLY IMPORTANT TO THE SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS. TONIGHT, WE ARE PARTICULARLY HONORED AND PROUD TO CELEBRATE FOUR PARTNERS WHO HAVE BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL BOARDS, STAND UP FOR TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS PROGRAM.

WE'LL BEGIN WITH THE RECOGNITION OF BOEING GLOBAL SERVICES.

GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS FROM PLANO ISD WERE RECOGNIZED BY BOEING FOR THEIR COMMITMENT TO PURSUE A STEM FIELD OF STUDY.

STUDENTS SIGNED A COMMITMENT TO CONTINUE THEIR STEM EDUCATION AT THEIR CHOSEN UNIVERSITY DURING THIS STEM SIGNING RECOGNITION EVENT.

ADDITIONALLY, EACH STUDENT WAS PAIRED WITH A MENTOR FROM THE BOEING GLOBAL SERVICES LEADERSHIP TEAM, WHO WILL OFFER GUIDANCE AND COUNSEL DURING THE STUDENT'S FRESHMAN YEAR OF COLLEGE. RECOGNIZING THAT THE REOPENING OF SCHOOLS DURING THE PANDEMIC WOULD TAKE ADDITIONAL PLANNING AND RESOURCES, THE BOEING COMPANY DONATED THIRTEEN THOUSAND CLOTH MASKS FOR STUDENTS IN PLANO ISD LAST YEAR.

WE ARE SO THANKFUL FOR THEIR HELP IN ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF OUR STUDENTS.

THESE INDIVIDUALS HELP MAKE SURE THAT EVERY CHILD IS CARED FOR IN PLANO ISD, AND THIS PROGRAM CREATES A MEANINGFUL WAY TO RECOGNIZE THOSE INDIVIDUALS FOR THEIR GREAT WORK.

INTOUCH STEPPED UP TO FUND THE INAUGURAL YEAR AND SIGNED ON THIS YEAR FOR A SECOND GO.

GESTURES LIKE A GIFT CARD TO A RESTAURANT HELPS SHOW APPRECIATION FOR ALL OF THE AMAZING WORK OUR SUPPORT TEAM MEMBERS DO EACH AND EVERY DAY.

FOR NUMEROUS YEARS, INTOUCH HAS SPONSORED THE TEACHER OF THE YEAR RECOGNITION EVENT AND LAST YEAR HELPED TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE MOBILE PIZZA KITCHEN SO THAT OUR CAMPUS TEACHER OF THE YEAR HONOREES COULD PICK UP DINNER FOR THEIR FAMILIES AND BE HOME TO ENJOY THE ONLINE CEREMONY AND CELEBRATION.

INTOUCH DONATED FRISCO ROUGHRIDERS TICKETS TO AVID TEACHERS, EMPLOYEES AND MEMBERS OF THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

TOYOTA'S SUPPORT IS GENUINE AND IMPACTFUL WITH EXCITEMENT AND ENCOURAGEMENT THEY PARTNER WITH ACADEMY HIGH SCHOOL AND PLANO ISD EACH YEAR IN SUPPORT OF LEARNER GROWTH.

THIS PARTNERSHIP IS A MODEL FOR WHAT IS POSSIBLE WHEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND PRIVATE INDUSTRY COLLABORATE. AND SO I'M JUST GOING TO DO MY DUTY AS THE TRUSTEE SCIENTIST AND SAY THANK YOU.

AND I GREATLY GREATLY APPRECIATE THAT EFFORT AND THAT IMPACT WITH THE MENTORING AND INTERNSHIPS, BECAUSE THAT IS ONE OF THE MOST VALUABLE THINGS YOU GUYS, AS COMMUNITY PARTNERS ARE DOING FOR OUR STUDENTS.

WELL, I HAVE TO ADD, AS THE COMMUNITY PERSON OF THE BOARD, I HAVE TO SAY THAT YOUR COMPANIES AND ORGANIZATIONS YOU REPRESENT ARE WONDERFUL.

HOWEVER, YOU ALL INDIVIDUALLY, IN FACT, THREE OF YOU, I'VE SERVED ON SOMETHING THAT HAD THE WORD LEADERSHIP INVOLVED IN IT AND THREE DIFFERENT THINGS.

YOU ALL ARE LEADERS IN OUR COMMUNITY.

YOU HAVE BROUGHT YOUR ORGANIZATIONS TO THE TABLE TO SUPPORT US.

WE ARE HONORED AND PRIVILEGED TO BE ABLE TO BE IN A COMMUNITY WITH THIS HIGH LEVEL OF LEADERSHIP, STEWARDING YOUR COMPANIES TO BE ABLE TO DO GREAT WORK.

AND SO WE ARE VERY AND PERSONALLY TO INDIVIDUALLY TO EACH OF YOU ALL.

DOES THAT MAKE SENSE UP TO THIS POINT? OK. AND REALLY SO IN YOUR PACKAGE, YOU'VE ALSO GOT A RESOLUTION THAT KRISTEN SAVANT AND HER TEAM PUT TOGETHER, THAT IS THE LEGAL PART OF ALL OF THIS THAT SPELLS IT OUT.

BUT YOU CAN ALSO SEE THE DOLLAR 1.321 IS THE LOWEST TAX RATE THAT WE'VE HAD IN THIS DISTRICT IN THE LAST 10 YEAR PERIOD.

THE I&S RATE HAS STAYED PRETTY STABLE, AS YOU CAN TELL IN THE RED, IT'S MATTER OF FACT IT'S BEEN 26.9 I BELIEVE, SINCE THE FISCAL YEAR 14.

AND IT'S REALLY BEEN THE M&O RATE THAT INCREASED AND THEN BEGAN TO DECREASE BACK DOWN AGAIN THROUGH HOUSE BILL 3.

TAXES ON THE AVERAGE RESIDENCE UNFORTUNATELY, THERE'S TWO FACTORS IN THE AMOUNT OF TAXES THAT SOMEONE PAYS. IT'S THE RATE TIMES THE AVERAGE VALUE AND OF COURSE, THE AVERAGE VALUES HAVE CONTINUED TO GROW UP ON HOMESTEADS.

BUT WE IN SO LAST YEAR, THE TAXES ON THE AVERAGE RESIDENCE WERE FOUR THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND THIRTY TWO DOLLARS.

THIS YEAR, THAT IS GOING UP TO FIVE THOUSAND SIXTY THREE, JUST EVEN WITH THE TAX RATE GOING DOWN AND THAT JUST BECAUSE OF THE RISE IN THE AVERAGE RESIDENCE.

AND SO WE KNOW THE MARKET HAS BEEN PRETTY HOT RECENTLY, AND SO THAT CONTINUES TO DRIVE UP HOME PRICES THAT WITH OTHER REASONS.

ALSO, OF COURSE, THE COMPARISON THAT WE MAKE EVERY YEAR ON PROPOSED TAX RATES WITH OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS THAT ARE IN COLLIN COUNTY, YOU CAN SEE THAT WORD THE SECOND LOWEST WHEN IT COMES TO TOTAL TAX RATE.

AND WE'LL TALK MORE ABOUT THAT HERE IN JUST A MINUTE.

AND SO WE ARE AT 26.9.

FRISCO IS JUST ABOVE US AT TWENTY SEVEN CENTS.

THE WHEN WE GET TO M&O, AS YOU KNOW, HOUSE BILL THREE CONTROLS OUR TAX RATE COMPRESSION.

AND SO MOST OF OUR NEIGHBORING DISTRICTS HAVE HAVE GROWING PROPERTY VALUES BECAUSE THEY'RE GROWING DISTRICTS THAT CONTINUE TO ADD MORE HOUSES AND MORE INDUSTRY TO WHERE PLANO IS MORE BUILT OUT.

WE'RE NOT COMPLETELY BUILT OUT, BUT WE'RE MORE BUILT OUT.

AND SO OUR PROPERTY VALUE GROWTH HAS SLOWED DOWN QUITE SIGNIFICANTLY.

AND SO THIS YEAR OUR OUR GROWTH WASN'T MORE THAN THE TWO AND A HALF PERCENT THAT WAS REQUIRED FOR COMPRESSION, NOR WAS THE STATE MORE THAN TWO AND A HALF.

AND SO THAT'S WHY OUR M&O.

STAYED THE SAME AND IT WAS ONLY DECREASED BY THE .003.

WHEN YOU LOOK AT MANY OF THESE OTHER DISTRICTS THAT ARE VERY FAST GROWTH ON THEIR VALUES AND THEIR TAX RATE HAS BEEN COMPRESSED PROBABLY THE LAST TWO YEARS BECAUSE THEY'RE GROWING MORE THAN THE STATE'S GROWING AND ALSO THEY'RE GROWING ENOUGH THAT THEY'RE GETTING COMPRESSION.

SO RANDY, LET ME ASK.

I THINK I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING BECAUSE TRADITIONALLY FARMERSVILLE WAS THE ONLY DISTRICT BELOW US IN THE TAXES.

I MEAN, FOR EVERY YEAR I'VE EVER BEEN ON THE BOARD, FRISCO HAS DROPPED BELOW US BECAUSE THEY'RE GROWING SO MUCH AND THEIR PROPERTY VALUES ARE GROWING SO QUICKLY.

THEY'VE JUST BEEN COMPRESSED DOWN BELOW US.

THAT'S RIGHT. OKAY. YEAH, AND AS YOU'LL RECALL, IN THAT TAX RATE COMPRESSION.

SO IT'S IN A YEAR THAT YOU GROW MORE THAN TWO AND A HALF.

THE MOST YOU CAN COMPRESS IN TIER ONE IS 90 PERCENT OF WHATEVER THE STATE TIER ONE RATE IS. SO RIGHT NOW IT'S .9134, SO YOU CAN COMPRESS DOWN TO 90 PERCENT OF THAT.

BUT THEN IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH YOU GROW AFTER YOU HIT THE FLOOR, THEN YOU'VE ALREADY HIT THE FLOOR SO YOU CAN'T COMPRESS ANYMORE.

BUT THERE'S NO GOING BACK ONCE YOU COMPRESS.

AND SO THAT'S REALLY WHY YOU'RE SEEING OUR M&O RATE IS HIGHER THAN ALL THE OTHER DISTRICTS IN COLLIN COUNTY, AS THEY'VE BEEN GROWING AT A RATE FASTER THAN WE HAVE AS FAR AS PROPERTY GROWTH.

SO IF YOU WANTED TO GET YOUR M&O HIGHER, YOU'D HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A VOTE TO THE COMMUNITY. THAT'S RIGHT.

PART OF THAT WAS DUE, OR A BIG PART OF THAT WAS DUE TO COVID AND OUR LOWER ADA NUMBERS.

AND SO REMEMBER, WE DIDN'T REALLY GET HOLD HARMLESS.

WE GOT ESSER 2 MONEY THAT WE'RE SUPPOSED TO USE IN PLACE OR THAT REALLY IS OUR HOLD HARMLESS MONEY. SO OUR RECAPTURE WASN'T BOUGHT DOWN.

AND SO THAT'S WHEN WE SAW THAT SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN RECAPTURE.

IF OUR ESSER 2 MONEY WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO OFFSET THE AMOUNT OF OUR HOLD HARMLESS, THEN WE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN ADDITIONAL STATE AID.

BUT OUR TIER TWO WAS SO IT'S ABOUT 19 MILLION AND OUR HOLD HARMLESS WAS ABOUT 10 MILLION.

SO IT EXCEEDED IT. AND SO WE DID NOT GET ANY ADDITIONAL STATE AID OR DIDN'T GET ADA OR DIDN'T GET RECAPTURE REDUCED.

AND SO THEN WE'RE PROJECTING THAT INITIALLY WE WERE PROJECTING THAT AT ABOUT 188 MILLION FOR THIS YEAR, BUT AGAIN, OUR ENROLLMENT IN ADA IS DOWN AND SO WE'LL HAVE TO CONTINUE TO MONITOR THAT.

IF THOSE DON'T INCREASE BACK TO THE PROJECTED NUMBER, THEN WE WILL BE PAYING RECAPTURE THAT WILL BE GREATER THAN ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY EIGHT MILLION.

OK, AND THEN WE JUST HAVE A DIFFERENT GRAPH THAT SHOWS, AGAIN THE BLUE, SO YOU CAN SEE HOW THE AMOUNT WE RETAIN OVER THAT SIX, SEVEN YEAR PERIOD HAS STAYED ABOUT THE SAME.

BUT YOU CAN SEE HOW RECAPTURE REALLY ESCALATED.

IT WAS BOUGHT DOWN AND NOW WE SEE IT TAKING OFF AGAIN.

AND THEN ANOTHER GRAPH THAT WE SHOW IS JUST SHOWING HOW MUCH OF THAT TOTAL M&O RATE WE ACTUALLY KEEP IN THE DISTRICT AND HOW MUCH OF THAT GOES FOR RECAPTURE.

SO FOR EXAMPLE, FOR THIS COMING YEAR, WE'RE PROJECTING SEVENTY THREE CENTS OF THE DOLLAR FIVE WOULD BE RETAINED AND 32.2 CENTS OF THAT WOULD GO FOR RECAPTURE.

SO, AS YOU KNOW, THIS IS ALWAYS A CONFUSING TOPIC BECAUSE WE HAVE DIFFERENT TAX RATES THAT WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT BASED ON DIFFERENT LEGISLATION.

AND SO THIS YEAR WE HAVE THE NO NEW REVENUE TAX RATE.

AND SO WHEN WE RUN THAT CALCULATION, I WILL TELL YOU AS AS MANY OF THESE CALCULATIONS ARE, THEY DON'T TAKE EVERYTHING INTO ACCOUNT IN THE CALCULATION, NOR DO I THINK IT'S INTENDED FOR THEM TO TAKE EVERYTHING INTO ACCOUNT.

BUT IT'S A WAY TO DO A CALCULATION THAT MAKES A SCHOOL LOOK BAD BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT LOWERING THEIR TAX RATE.

SO THE NO NEW REVENUE TAX RATE DOES NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT WHAT YOUR STUDENT POPULATION DOES. IT ALSO DOESN'T TAKE INTO ACCOUNT WHAT YOUR RECAPTURE DOES OR YOUR STATE FUNDING DOES. SO ALL IT IS IS A IS A TAX RATE THAT LOOKS AT WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR PROPERTY VALUES AND THEN WHAT RATE WOULD IT TAKE TO GENERATE THE SAME AMOUNT OF LOCAL TAX COLLECTIONS.

AND SO BECAUSE BECAUSE OTHER THINGS CHANGE IN THAT IF YOUR ADA IS GOING DOWN, THEN YOUR RECAPTURE GOES UP.

AND SO IT'S REALLY NOT A FULL PICTURE OF NET REVENUE, AS YOU KNOW, THE TWO ARE TIED VERY CLOSELY TOGETHER.

AND SO SO WHEN WE CALCULATED THAT WHEN WE RAN IT THROUGH THAT CALCULATION, OUR TOTAL NO NEW REVENUE RATE IS 1.31817.

SO WE HAVE SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS THAT ARE GOING TO BE BRINGING SOME UPDATES FROM THE BEGINNING OF SCHOOL, AND SOME OF THIS IS RELATIVE TO WORK THAT TOOK PLACE OVER THE SUMMER. SOME OF IT IS NEW WORK THAT HAS TAKEN PLACE AT SCHOOL HAS STARTED.

AND SO I WANT TO START OUT WITH JUST THINKING EACH OF OUR DEPARTMENTS AND THEIR TEAMS FOR THE HARD WORK AND CONTINUED WORK.

DR. HASLEY AND HER TEAM HAVE ALSO HAD A VERY HEAVY LIFT.

WE ARE. WE STARTED THIS LAST YEAR.

WE'RE GOING TO SEE MORE FRUIT OF THE LABOR THIS YEAR, HOPEFULLY WITH THE KIDS BACK IN THE CLASSROOM. BUT WE WANT TO INCREASE OUR VIDEO FOOTPRINT BY WORKING WITH OUR CTE DEPARTMENT TO INVOLVE STUDENTS IN OUR DISTRICT VIDEO PRODUCTION AND IN RETURN, THE KIDS WILL GET THEIR HANDS ON EXPERIENCE IN THE CLASSROOM IN THE REAL WORLD.

THEY WILL INCREASE THEIR OWN PORTFOLIOS.

I THINK DEMO REEL IS THE BETTER WORD FOR THESE KIDS.

WE'LL BE ABLE TO HELP THEM DO THAT.

AND THEN WE ARE CONTRIBUTING TO OUR PORTRAIT OF A GRADUATE BY GIVING STUDENTS THAT REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE. SO WE ARE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT WHAT THAT'S GOING TO BEAR FOR US.

IF CONVOCATION HAD HAPPENED, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN OUR FIRST FORAY INTO THAT, BUT WE DIDN'T HAVE IT LIVE.

WE FILMED IT, BUT WE DIDN'T NEED THE KIDS ON HAND ON THAT THE SUNDAY THAT WE FILMED.

CONTINUING WITH OUR WEBSITE, OUR WEBSITE REMAINS OUR BIGGEST COLLABORATION TOOL.

SO THE PLANO ISD WEBSITE I ALWAYS SAY THAT WE HAVE SHARED CUSTODY OF THE WEBSITE WITH OUR WONDERFUL INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT, AND WE WORK VERY CLOSELY TOGETHER TO CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE THE SITE.

SO EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, WE'LL SNEAK IN SOMETHING NEW AND INTERESTING AND FOR FUN.

SOMETIMES WE PLAY A GAME WITH OUR NEW PRINCIPALS TO GO ON A SCAVENGER HUNT ON OUR WEBSITE TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIND ALL THE NEW STUFF.

AND THIS YEAR WE ARE CONTINUING IN ADDITION TO THE WEBSITE WE'RE IN ON THE WEBSITE, WE'RE CONTINUING OUR CENTRALIZED COMMUNICATION THAT WE STARTED DURING COVID.

SO WE'VE TRANSITIONED OUR COVID DAILY COMMUNICATION TO DISTRICT COMMUNICATIONS.

SO WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE WORKING WITH DR.

WILLIAMS AND OUR SCHOOL LEADERSHIP AND INNOVATION DEPARTMENT TO HAVE THOSE DAILY COMMUNICATIONS TO PRINCIPALS, TO STAFF AND TO OUR FAMILIES.

CONTINUING SO LAST YEAR, YOU MIGHT REMEMBER WE INTRODUCED THE SCHOOL PR LIAISON PROGRAM, AND THAT IS WHERE WE HAVE A PROFESSIONAL STAFF MEMBER WHO GETS A STIPEND TO HELP WITH SOCIAL MEDIA AND OTHER PR EFFORTS AT THE CAMPUS.

LAST YEAR, I THINK WE HAD SOMEWHERE IN THE SIXTIES.

WE'RE UP TO SEVENTY ONE THIS YEAR, SO THAT MEANS ALMOST EVERY CAMPUS HAS A SCHOOL PR LIAISON, SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

WE'RE GOING TO SEE SOME ADDITIONS TO THE WEBSITE AS A RESULT, WHERE WE'RE GOING TO HAVE SOME MORE SCHOOL NEWS OUT THERE.

WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE WITH THE SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGNS THAT WE DID THE CELEBRATIONS, AS WELL AS SOME COLLABORATIONS WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS LIKE OUR STUDENT FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT, WITH A CAMPAIGN THAT'S GOING TO HIGHLIGHT KIND OF A WE ARE PLANO ISD, WE BELONG SORT OF SEL CAMPAIGN.

SO WE'RE EXCITED TO SEE HOW WE'LL BE ABLE TO USE OUR SCHOOL PR LIAISONS IN THAT.

AND NEXT, YOU'VE HEARD US TALK A LOT ABOUT THIS PRODUCT, LET'S TALK, WE ARE IN THE PRE-LAUNCH PHASE OF THAT RIGHT NOW.

WE HAVE IDENTIFIED THE SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS FROM VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS, AND SEVERAL HAVE BEEN TRAINED ALREADY. I THINK THE LAST OF OUR THREE INITIAL TRAININGS IS HAPPENING TOMORROW. SO WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE WITH THE TRAINING ON THAT.

LAST YEAR WE LAUNCHED OUR VOLY VOLUNTEERS MODULE, AND I THINK WE TALKED ABOUT THE IRONY OF THE FACT THAT WE DID THAT IN A YEAR THAT WE COULDN'T HAVE VOLUNTEERS ON CAMPUS, BUT WE STILL GOT A LOT OF PEOPLE SIGNED UP LAST YEAR.

THIS YEAR, I THINK WE'VE GOTTEN UPWARDS OF 4000 FOLKS SIGNED UP SINCE WE RELAUNCHED IN JULY. TRAINING IS HAPPENING NEW THIS YEAR.

WE HAVE INVITED OUR PTA TO JOIN IN THE TRAINING SO THAT THEY CAN POST THEIR VOLUNTEER

EFFORTS. A LOT OF OUR VOLUNTEER HOURS COMES THROUGH PTA.

SO IT'S GREAT THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO CAPTURE THAT NOW THROUGH VOLY.

AND SO WE'VE HAD SEVERAL TRAININGS WITH PTA'S.

I DON'T KNOW IF THE INFORMATION ON MY SHEET IS CORRECT BECAUSE IT WAS RIGHT THE LAST TIME AROUND, BUT SO FAR WE HAD HOSTED THREE VOLY TRAININGS.

I THINK IT'S BEEN A FEW MORE THAN THAT AND WE'RE DOING THAT BOTH IN PERSON AND ONLINE.

SO WE'RE GOING TO USE THE FEEDBACK FROM PTA'S, ANYTHING THAT WE LEARNED THIS YEAR AND SEE IF WE WOULD BE ABLE TO BRING IN OUR BOOSTERS NEXT YEAR.

FINGERS CROSSED THAT THAT'S GOING TO WORK.

WE ALREADY HAVE SOME BOOSTERS WHO WANT TO USE IT NOW, WHICH IS GREAT.

WE'RE WORKING WE CONTINUE TO WORK WITH OUR TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT AND SAFETY AND SECURITY ON VOLY BECAUSE THERE'S A LOT THAT BOTH OF THOSE DEPARTMENTS HAVE THAT HELP US.

SO WE'RE TAKING FEEDBACK FROM FOLKS AND CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVING.

HOPEFULLY, THE USER EXPERIENCE OF THAT PRODUCT AND PATRICK AND HIS TEAM HAS BEEN VERY ATTENTIVE TO OUR BEING ABLE TO ENHANCE THE TECHNOLOGY AND IMPROVE THAT FOR THE USERS.

SO WE REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.

THE SECOND PART OF THE VOLY LAUNCH IS THE VOLY'S PARTNERS MODULE, AND WE ARE REALLY EXCITED TO SEE WHAT THAT'S GOING TO BRING US.

THEN THE PARTNERS MODULE WILL ALLOW US TO CONNECT COMMUNITY PARTNERS WITH DISTRICT NEEDS, AND IT SERVES AS A PLATFORM WHERE PARTNERS CAN LET THE DISTRICT KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE, WHERE THE DISTRICT CAN LET THE PARTNERS KNOW WHAT THEY NEED.

SO WE'RE HOPING TO MESH ALL THAT TOGETHER WITH THE VOLY PARTNERS.

SO WE'RE JUST GOING TO WE NEED TO TRAIN ON THAT AND RECRUIT PARTNERS SO WE'RE WORKING WITH THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION AS WELL SO THAT WE CAN GET SOME PARTNERS SIGNED UP.

SO YOU WANT SOME WHO ARE MORE ACTIVELY INVOLVED AND MAYBE SOME WHO ARE NOT AS ACTIVELY INVOLVED. WE HAD COMMUNITY AND BUSINESS PEOPLE.

WE HAD PARENTS WE HAD WE ACTUALLY HAD A COUPLE OF EMPLOYEES, BUT THIS PROGRAM WAS NOT FOR THEM. AND SO WE PROBABLY HAVE TO GET CLEAR ABOUT THAT.

YOU KNOW, THAT THAT'S NOT AN OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR STAFF.

THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO ENGAGE IN WORKING WITH THE DISTRICT. AND I WOULD SAY KIND OF THE WAY THE RUBRIC FOLLOWED IS WE DID ASK FOR PEOPLE TO PROVIDE INFORMATION TO US BASED ON COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, WHY THEY WANTED TO BE INVOLVED AND A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT WAYS OF ASKING WHAT THEIR INTEREST IS AND WHAT THEY HAVE DONE IN THE COMMUNITY OR WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO DO.

YEAH. WE HAVE NOT THOUGHT ABOUT INCLUDING STUDENTS IN THIS.

WE HAVE THE SUPERINTENDENT STUDENT ADVISORY GROUP THAT HAS STUDENTS APPOINTED FROM EACH ONE OF THE SENIOR HIGH CAMPUSES THAT COMES TO VISIT WITH US MONTHLY AND WE SOLICIT INPUT FROM THEM ON A REGULAR BASIS ON THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING IN THE DISTRICT.

EACH DEPARTMENT PRESENTS TO THAT GROUP, SO THEY GET A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT VERSION, DOESN'T PULL THEM OUT OF SCHOOL QUITE SO MUCH TIME.

SO RIGHT NOW, WE HAVE NOT INCLUDED STUDENTS AND BASED ON THE NUMBER OF GROWNUPS THAT WERE INTERESTED. YOU KNOW, I WOULD THINK MY NEXT GUESS WOULD BE WHEN WE GO THROUGH WITH TWENTY SIX AND WE SEE HOW WE CAN ACCOMMODATE THAT NUMBER IS CAN WE TAKE MORE THAN TWENTY SIX GROWN UPS BEFORE WE START PULLING KIDS OFF CAMPUS? I JUST THINK WE WOULD CONSIDER THAT.

YEAH, WE HAVE TALKED ABOUT HAVING SOME SORT OF STUDENT COMPONENT IN EVERY GROUP, SO OR EVERY CLASS.

OH, WELL, SPEAKING OF WONDERFUL THINGS GOING ON IN THE DISTRICT, WE HAD OUR ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR ON AUGUST 3RD AT CLARK STADIUM.

I'M MENTIONING THAT BECAUSE IN THE YEARS PREVIOUS, WE HAD IT AT VARIOUS CAMPUSES, MOST NOTABLY LIKE AT WILLIAMS HIGH SCHOOL LAST YEAR, AND WE MESSED UP TRAFFIC ON THE EAST SIDE AND GOT IN TROUBLE WITH THE POLICE.

SO ANYWAYS, WE MOVED IT TO CLARK STADIUM AND IT WAS A MUCH BETTER VENUE, EASIER FOR TRAFFIC FLOW AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

AND I DO KNOW THAT MANY OF OUR BOARD MEMBERS WERE EITHER THERE VOLUNTEERING OR TRYING TO GET THERE, BUT YOU GOT SORT OF CAUGHT IN THE TRAFFIC AND SO WE'LL WORK ON GETTING SOME KIND OF FAST PASS FOR NEXT YEAR.

SOME STATS ABOUT THAT DAY.

WE HAD TWENTY FIVE HUNDRED BACKPACKS, A THOUSAND BOXES OF FOOD THANKS TO MINNIES AND LOVEPACKS WE HAD TONS OF VOLUNTEERS, TONS OF JUST GREAT INTERACTION WITH OUR FAMILIES.

AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE WE GIVE SOME SHOUT OUTS TO EDUCATION FOUNDATION, T-MOBILE, OFFICE DEPOT AND, OF COURSE, MINNIES AND LOVEPACKS.

THIS WAS SUCH A FUN EVENT.

IT WAS SO FUN TO HAND STUFF OUT, AND A LOT OF THE PARENTS BROUGHT THEIR KIDS WITH THEM.

THIS SUMMER WAS A BIG DEAL FOR AT LEAST THIS DEPARTMENT AND OUR REALLY OUR WHOLE SCHOOL DISTRICT BECAUSE WE BEGAN OUR FIRST WELCOME AND ENROLLMENT CENTER.

AS YOU KNOW, WE DID SOME CONVERSION OF OUR DAPS AND WITH THAT OPENED UP THE ENTIRE BIRD BUILDING AND WE TOOK PART OF THAT BUILDING THE NORTH SIDE OF THAT BUILDING AND TURNED IT INTO A WELCOME AND ENROLLMENT CENTER, OFFICIALLY OPENING ON JULY 26TH.

IMMEDIATELY WHEN WE OPENED, THE DOORS WERE THERE WERE LINES OUTSIDE THE DOOR AND WE REALLY WERE PEAKING AT ABOUT 170 FAMILIES PER DAY, WHICH WAS A LOT MORE THAN WE COULD HANDLE.

BUT IT SHOWED THE NEED, THOUGH.

IT SHOWED THE NEED.

SO THE ENROLLMENT CENTER, FIRST OF ALL, WE SERVICE FAMILIES AND THAT COME IN TO US, YOU KNOW, THROUGH THE DOOR, FACE TO FACE.

WE ALSO SERVICE THEM THROUGH EMAILS OR VOICEMAILS OR ANY KIND OF COMMUNICATION THAT WE GET TO OUR DISTRICT, THE TYPE OF SERVICES WE OFFER.

THERE ARE, OF COURSE, ANY AND ALL THINGS ASSOCIATED WITH ENROLLMENT TRANSFERS.

ANY KIND OF TRANSLATION NEEDS THAT THEY MAY HAVE ANY KIND OF WRAPAROUND SERVICES OR SUPPORT THAT THEY MAY NEED.

AND OF COURSE, WE HAVE OUR HOMELESS LIAISON SUPPORT AND SOCIAL WORKERS THERE TO HELP AS WELL. THIS YEAR WAS OUR FIRST YEAR USING ONLINE ENROLLMENT, SO IT WAS CHALLENGES FOR ALL, INCLUDING SOME OF US HERE ON THE DAIS.

SO WE CONTINUED ON WITH A PREVIOUS PROGRAM THAT WE HAD WITH THE LASERFICHE ONLINE ENROLLMENT FOR OUR PRE-K STUDENTS.

THAT PROGRAM KICKED OFF BACK IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR, AND WE CONTINUED ON THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER WITH OUR ENROLLMENT PROCESSES.

BACK IN JUNE.

ON JUNE 28TH, WE OPENED UP OUR TEAM'S ONLINE ENROLLMENT.

THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR FOR THAT, BEGINNING WITH OUR KINDERGARTNERS THROUGH 12TH GRADE.

THEY ALL COMPLETED THEIR ENROLLMENT THROUGH THE TEAM'S ONLINE ENROLLMENT SYSTEM.

AND THEN TOWARDS THE END OF JULY, WE OPENED UP OUR PARENT PORTAL, WHICH IS OUR REGISTRATION FORMAT FOR OUR RETURNING STUDENTS.

ALL OF THESE PLATFORMS PLAY INTO WHAT DR.

GOBER WAS JUST TALKING ABOUT WITH HIS ONLINE ENROLLMENT CENTER, AND ALL OF THIS PLAYED DIRECTLY INTO THE HEAVY LIFTING THAT THEY WERE RESPONSIBLE TO TRY AND PROCESS AND GET THESE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN TIME AND READY FOR THE START OF SCHOOL.

AND THEN WE HAVE ABOUT JUST SHORT OF 2400 STUDENTS THAT HAVE PARTICIPATED IN OUR PARENT LED VIRTUAL OPTION, WHICH BRINGS OUR TOTAL ENROLLMENT TO 49,306.

AS WE LOOK AT THE NUMBERS FOR OUR RETURNING PARENTS AND HOW THEY WERE REGISTERING THEIR STUDENTS FOR THE START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, WE COUNTED OVER 3100 PARENT PORTAL LOG INS TO CONDUCT BUSINESS OF SOME SORT WITH THE REGISTRATION PROCESS.

45,000 EMERGENCY CARDS COMPLETED AND OVER 13,000 CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS THAT EQUATED TO OVER 280,000 DOLLARS IN FEES AND OTHER BUSINESSES THAT WERE CONDUCTED THIS YEAR.

WITH THAT, WITH THOSE QUESTIONS BEING ASKED DURING ENROLLMENT AND REGISTRATION PROCESS, WE HAD 17,500 REQUESTS FOR CHROMEBOOKS AND THEN ANOTHER 3000 REQUESTS FOR HOTSPOTS . AT THE CURRENT TIME WE FOCUSED FIRST ON THOSE STUDENTS THAT WERE PARTICIPATING IN THE PARENT LED OPTION TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAD DEVICES HANDED OUT TO THOSE.

AND THE CAMPUSES RIGHT NOW ARE CONTINUING TO DISTRIBUTE OUT THESE 17,000 DEVICES FOR REQUESTS AS THEY SCHEDULE PLACES AND TIMES FOR PICKUPS FOR THESE STUDENTS.

AND EVEN THOUGH WE ASKED THIS QUESTION SPECIFICALLY ABOUT WHO NEEDED ACCESS, ANYONE IS ALLOWED TO REQUEST AND CHECK OUT A DEVICE IF THEY SO CHOOSE TO DO SO BECAUSE THEY NEED ONE AT HOME. BUT THIS WAS THE RESPONSE SPECIFICALLY TO THE QUESTIONS WE ASKED DURING THE ENROLLMENT PROCESS.

FROM 7TH TO 12TH GRADE, I PUT SEVENTH TO 12TH BECAUSE THEY CHOOSE THOSE YOU KNOW, IN 6TH GRADE, THEY ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE A MUSIC.

BUT WHEN THEY HIT 7TH GRADE, THEY GET TO MAKE SOME CHOICES.

AND SO IT'S PRETTY IMPRESSIVE THAT WE HAVE THE MAJORITY OF OUR SECONDARY STUDENTS CONTINUING TO ENGAGE IN FINE ARTS CURRICULUM ALL THE WAY THROUGH THEIR EDUCATION HERE IN PLANO. CAN YOU EXPLAIN QUICKLY ABOUT THE ART, THE NUMBER OF EIGHT THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED AND SEVENTY ONE? HOW DID YOU GET THAT NUMBER? THAT'S THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS ENROLLED IN AN ART COURSE IN 7TH THROUGH 12TH GRADE.

AND THEN, MOST RECENTLY, PLANO ISD WAS NAMED FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW AS A DISTRICT OF DISTINCTION BY THE TEXAS ART EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION.

GOT TO MENTION LAURA MCNARY, OUR PLANO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, WAS ALSO NAMED THE TEXAS ELEMENTARY MIDDLE SCHOOL EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR BY THE TEXAS EDUCATIONAL THEATER ASSOCIATION.

AND THESE ARE ALL HONORS THAT HAVE HAPPENED AND BEEN ANNOUNCED LATE IN THE SUMMER OR JUST AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

SO IT'S REALLY PROMISING TO SEE WHAT OUR STUDENTS AND OUR TEACHERS ARE GOING TO ACCOMPLISH AS THE SCHOOL YEAR PROGRESSES.

SO ATHLETICS, OUR CAMPUSES AND ATHLETIC DEPARTMENTS HAVE ALSO HAD A LOT OF STUDENT PARTICIPATION IN OUR SPORTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY IN SEASON.

WE HAVE ONE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY TWO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AT STUDENT ATHLETES AND ONE THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY NINE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT ATHLETES PARTICIPATING IN AN IN-SEASON SPORT RIGHT NOW.

FOOTBALL, TENNIS, VOLLEYBALL AND CROSS COUNTRY HAVE ALL JUST STARTED COMPETING, AND GOLF, SWIMMING AND DIVING WILL BEGIN THEIR TOURNAMENTS AND MEETS RESPECTIVELY LATER THIS MONTH.

OVERALL, OUR ATHLETES TOO ARE VERY HAPPY TO BE COMPETING AND TRAINING IN THE SPORT THAT THEY LOVE.

AND PLANO ISD FANS, INCLUDING ALL YOU GUYS UP HERE, HAVE A LOT OF OPPORTUNITIES AND WE CERTAINLY WELCOME YOU GUYS TO GET OUT THERE AND ATTEND SOME OF THESE EVENTS AND SEE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS IN ACTION.

SWITCHING GEARS TO SOME DISTRICT SERVICES, OUR FANS DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN VERY HARD AT WORK, MAKING SURE THAT OUR STUDENTS ARE FED BREAKFAST AND LUNCH WHILE THEY'RE AT SCHOOL FROM THE VERY FIRST DAY.

PLANO IS TAKING PART IN THE SUMMER SEAMLESS OPTION THAT WAS OFFERED THROUGH USDA, AND THAT PROVIDES FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH TO ALL STUDENTS, REGARDLESS OF THEIR SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS FOR THE ENTIRE 21 22 SCHOOL YEAR.

SO MANY OF OUR STUDENTS HAVE BEEN TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THAT OPTION, AND THE FANS DEPARTMENT SERVED OVER EIGHTY FIVE THOUSAND MEALS IN THE FIRST THREE DAYS OF SCHOOL.

AND THE NUMBERS OF THOSE MEALS THAT ARE BEING SERVED DAILY JUST KEEPS RISING AND GETTING STRONG. SO WE'RE VERY HAPPY ABOUT THAT.

THERE WAS A SERIES OF THREE MULTI-DAY SESSIONS SO CAMPUS TEAMS NEEDED TO ATTEND TOGETHER, BUT COULD CHOOSE FROM A COUPLE OF SEVERAL DIFFERENT DATE OPTIONS AND WHAT WORKED WITH THEIR SCHEDULES. WE HAD A GREAT OFFICE PROFESSIONAL WELCOME AND LEARNING DAY.

THIS WAS FOR OUR OFFICE MANAGERS, BOTH AT THE CAMPUSES AND IN THE IN THE DISTRICT OFFICES. WE HAD GREAT SUPPORT FROM MARKET STREET AND WE HAD ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY FOUR SUPPORT STAFF INVOLVED IN A CONFERENCE THAT REALLY ELEVATED THEIR THEIR WORK AND THEIR FEELING OF WORTH AND VALUE BECAUSE THEY WERE TREATED SO WELL ON THAT DAY.

WE HAVE ONE HUNDRED AND NINE TEACHERS PARTICIPATING IN OUR INAUGURAL TEACHER LEADER ACADEMY. THIS IS ANOTHER STEP IN OUR LEADERSHIP PIPELINE DEVELOPMENT FOR THE DISTRICT.

THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR FOR THAT NEW REDESIGNED OPPORTUNITY.

IT WAS 13. IT'S NOW 12 AND A PROFESSIONAL LEARNING FACILITATOR AND TRAINING INVOLVED IN A TWO YEAR COHORT WITH OTHERS IN REGION 10 TO OBTAIN THEIR NATIONAL BOARD CERTIFICATION.

THIS IS IN CONJUNCTION WITH A GRANT WE RECEIVED FROM TEA LAST YEAR FOR TEACHER LEADERSHIP. WE HAD NEW ADMINISTRATOR BOOT CAMP.

THIS WAS OUR SECOND TIME TO DO THIS SECOND SUMMER, THE FIRST TIME WE WERE ABLE TO HAVE IT FACE TO FACE.

IT WAS FOR ALL OF OUR NEW PRINCIPALS AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS, AND IT'S HIGHLY DIFFERENTIATED. IT'S A LOT OF ONE ON ONE SESSIONS.

WE DIFFERENTIATE NEW ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS VERSUS NEW BUT NEW TO THE DISTRICT, BUT NOT TO THE ROLE. IT'S VERY DIFFERENTIATED.

AND THEN WE HAD OUR LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE TAKING A LESSON FROM LAST YEAR AND WHAT WAS SUCCESSFUL IN A COMPLETELY VIRTUAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE.

WE TOOK A COMBINATION OF FACE TO FACE AND VIRTUAL OPPORTUNITIES, SYNCHRONOUS OPPORTUNITIES, AS WELL AS ASYNCHRONOUS OPPORTUNITIES OVER A TWO WEEK PERIOD THAT ALLOWED OUR ADMINISTRATORS TO BE IN ABOUT FOUR FULL DAYS OF LEARNING BUT SPREAD OUT.

IT WAS A GREAT USE OF A VARIETY OF FORMATS AND DEADLINES AND ABILITY TO SEE THEM FACE TO FACE, WHICH WAS GREAT FOR EVERYBODY.
